Viva La Regina

If I were forced to choose only ONE of my opera-DVD and Video-collection I's choose this one without another thought. I'm a history-buff and knowing the story of Elizabeth I. pretty well let me tell you that Sill's presence equals that of the divine Glenda Jackson, the actress who played Elizabeth I. in BBC's highly acclaimed mini-series "Elizabeth R." (R. stands for Regina)!!!! Add to this a woman who's BURNING up the stage with her thrilling voice! Beverly once said that this Elisabetta cut off at least 5 years of her career. But WHAT a performance this is!!! Beats Edita Gruberova EASILY. If you love opera and great singing RUN to buy this and be drawn into history!

Great DVD!

Ok, I have been reading some reviews on here, and I agree, with the bad ones. I love Paul Mccartney, and don't get me wrong, I seen his concert in Toronto, he was absolutely amazing. He hit all the high notes, did over 30 songs, and even sang "Mull of Kintyre" which Toronto was lucky enough to be the only one to get that privilage. Having said that, I can say the DVD is very dissapointing. I was super happy when I bought the only copy yesterday at my local music store. I brought it home expecting a great 3 hour ride of music like we had gotten at the show. But no, what I did get was 3 special features, and a secret website that I can't access because I don't have a DVD ROM. The concert is not played in the order it was performed. There is a bunch of songs missing, "Lonely Road" being my favorite from the new album, and it's one of them. "Driving Rain" is listed as a bonus song. WHY??? Hey jude starts in the middle. "Hey Jude" of all songs would be one the you'd like to see all of. The concert was so magnifigant, and I haven't ever had a better time in my life. But for those of you who were at the show, and expect to relive the show, you'll have to get a bootleg. The cd as well, is great, and plays in order in it's entirety, well almost. They have cut out all the talking. Paul talked alot abotu some songs before singing them, like why "C-Moon" is called "C-Moon". But sorry to th efolks who weren't there, you'll never know. I feel very fortunate that I bought a bootleg from las vegas of the whole concert on ebay, and I suggest all Mccartney fans who feel ripped off do the same. I couldn't give the concert zero stars or I would have. But Paul Mccartney still can rock his [butt] off, and his voice is still amazing at 60. I love you Paul!!! But the DVD [stinks].

*A definite ZOMBIE classic*

"Night Of The Living Dead" is a must for all those horror, and especially zombie lovers out there. Although this movie was created in 1990 it still had great effects, will send chills down your spine, and have you sitting on the edge of your seat. It takes affect in a small town in the states, only a very few people are not zombies and are stuck in a house. They get together and find nails, wood, and board up the house they r in. From there all scarey and very life threatening situations begin to unfold.
I am gonna keep quiet with this one....but it is a definite one to watch and buy.....even rent it
A definite horror classic

Much better than Episode I and II

Star Wars - Clone Wars, Vol. 1 (2003.)

For many years, the Star Wars series had been the ultimate science fiction series, attracting fans from all around the world, of all backgrounds and age groups. Things sounded promising when George Lucas announced he had plans for a prequel trilogy. Unfortunately, the first of these prequels, Episode I, was widely regarded as a disappointment. The follow-up, Episode II, fared slightly better but was still disappointing overall, and featured a script that was downright terrible at times. And then, something totally unexpected happened. It was announced that a Star Wars animated series would bridge the gap between Episodes II and III! And the one who was going to be the driving force behind the animated series was none other than Genndy Tartavosky, the creator of awesome Cartoon Network shows like Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. Would Lucas' classic sci-fi vision combined with Tartavosky's animation ability make for a good series? Read on for my review of Star Wars - Clone Wars.

Essentially, the Clone Wars series does exactly what it promises it would do - it fills the gap between Episodes II and III. Episode II ended with the Clone Wars beginning, and this series picks up right where it left off, getting right into the action. Many of your favorite characters from the prequel trilogy, including Mace Windu, Yoda, Ki Adi Mundi, Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious, Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus, return here. It's like a direct sequel to Episode II, in many ways. Plenty of new characters also get introduced, including Genral Grievous, who will play a major role in Episode III. The series (episodes 1-20) originally aired on Cartoon Network as three-minute shorts, and they have been combined on this DVD (the latter five episodes were 15 minutes each, and they will be on the Vol. 2 DVD.) This series ends right were Episode III is set to begin.

I had major doubts about this series - I mean an ANIMATED Star Wars!? It just didn't seem right (go watch those corny old Droids and Ewoks series to see why I felt that way.) Boy, were my doubts ever shattered. This blows Episodes I and II right out of the water! The series has more action than those two episodes of the prequel trilogy COMBINED! Admittingly, there's less character development here, but let's be realistic - it's ACTION that most fans want (and besides, most of these characters got plenty of development in the prequels.) Where this series succeeds, it succeeds beautifully - The Yavin IV lightsaber duel between Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress (a sith apprentice) was, in my opinion, more exciting than anything the films offered - even the CLASSIC trilogy! Doing an animated series actually opens up a number of possibilities that just aren't possible live action. Combine that with Tartavosky's ability to create some damn fine animation, and you've got one hell of a show on your hands. The animation style here is practically identical to the one he used on Samurai Jack, and that's a GOOD thing. George Lucas could really learn a thing or two from this series - I'm seriously hoping Episode III resembles this series more in its execution than the two prequels that came earlier.

The DVD released from the series that features shorts 1-20 has a number of bonus features. Among them are the exclusive featurette: "Bridging the Saga: From Clone Wars to Revenge of the Sith," including new interviews with George Lucas, Genny Tartakovsky, and the Clone Wars production crew; also featuring a glimpse of Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume Two, a behind the scenes featurette, Director commentary, Hyperspace commentary, Two galleries of concept art, storyboards, and sketches, and, of course, a Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith teaser trailer. We also get a Episode III video game trailer, and an Xbox playable game level of Star Wars Republic Commando! This was a great series as it was, and the bonus features only make this package all the more appealing.

If you're one of the many Star Wars fans who was disappointed by the prequel trilogy, and/or you need a Star Wars fix prior to seeing Episode III in theatres, Clone Wars is for you. Don't let the animation fool you - this is pure Star Wars. Any Star Wars fan, no matter how big or small, should pick this up - you're going to be pleasantly surprised at how much better this series is than Episodes I and II.

Oh, and one other good thing about this series - Jar Jar is no where in sight!

A program that grows with you.

There is little more I can say that many have not already stated. However, I feel it is important that I state that this series, "Gargoyles" was the best show I had ever seen, growing up and maturing. The themes are multi-dimensional and aimed at adults as well as children. A program you can watch and then return to and see it in an entirely new light. I say to anyone that does not give this series a chance because it is a "simple cartoon" is not only being unfair, but depriving themself of quality entertainment.
To anyone who says, "But they look like demons" I say that's the point. People have dificulty looking beyond skin, deeper than facade. It's a statement about us as human beings, the experience of growing up, fantasy, magic, science, love and hate, all together.
Some of the greatest animation the industry has ever seen acompanied by soem of the best writing anyone could ask for. There is little more anyone could ask for in art of story telling.

Love, Love, Love It!

I was going to buy the new Princess Stories DVD but when I read the reviews, they were awful but other people recommended this DVD. So, I bought it for my 3 year old daughter for her Easter basket. Well, we've watched it at least 3 times a day since Easter morning. She absolutely LOVES it! Frankly, I enjoy it too. The music is awsome and it really does keep her attention. At 3 years old, that's quite an accomplishment. In fact, she seems to like it more than the first Princess Stories. I read the reviews before I buy any new movie for my kids and I'm glad I did because this is an AWSOME DVD. My daughter isn't even to Barbie yet, but she truly does love this movie.

Power Yoga for Happiness - movie DVD cover picture

Vancouver yoga teacher Eoin Finn is a favorite among video fitness enthusiasts for his first effort, Power Yoga by Eoin Finn. His second work features some very well thought out elements that are geared specifically towards the video yogi and yogini, along with a relaxed and playful vibe, beautiful settings and soothing music. This is a two (2!) CD set that features several routines from 30-90 minutes of vinyasa yoga. The instruction is a voice over by Eion, with Eion and other models showing modifications for beginners, intermediates and "double black diamonds", or advanced versions of asanas.
For lovers of vinyasa style yoga, this CD offers a lot of variety, from the 30 minute Yoga Quickie, to a hip-opening routine entitled Magically Hips, to a challenging 90 minute, Full Happiness routine. This video does assume the user's basic knowledge of vinyasa style yoga, but again, basic modifications are plentiful and easy to find, as are more advanced poses such as Tittibasana and the jaw-dropper Eka Pada Galavasana.
Eion's sense of humour is irrepressible, whether featuring a canine member of the cast with his own purple sticky mat, to the chapter points that describe Sun Salutations "eh" and "B" (the group is from Canada). For me, this is a refreshing change from the rather rarified quality of so many other videos on the market today. And the routine is just great, a wonderful balance of strength and stretch for the top of your head to the bottom of your feet.
The only thing missing from this fantastic CD is a "zen" soundtrack that was originally planned--a soundtrack that features minimal description and basic cuing, a great option once you are familiar with the poses and the flow of the routines. No biggie, though, as it is very good to hear the things that Eoin has to say.
All in all, a great DVD, one that I know I will be reaching for again and again.

One of the funniest films of all time!

UHF is the story of George Newman (played by "Weird Al" Yankovic), a man whom's huge imagination holds him back from getting a real job, as demonstrated in a hillarious Raiders of the Lost Ark spoof at the beginning of the film. Luckily, George's uncle wins a television station in a poker game and gives it to George, with unbelievably funny results. Movies just don't get much funnier than this!
