Visually Stunning

The opening sequence of the sky divers over San Diego is the high point of the DVD for me; but the entire DVD is well worth watching repeatedly. Movies should take you to places that you may not be able to go in real life, such as skydiving. The Disney chapter was light and fun; especially the first person perspective roller coaster ride. Climbing up and into the giant trees of California again gives us non-climbers unusual views and different perspectives.

Quick and Dirty Pt. 2

I ordered the first dirty guide to salsa based on the reviews and I thought it was very good. I just got this one and it is just as good maybe even better. It is longer and it's packed with a lot of different moves. The dvd angles are great especially the high angle. I still haven't gotten around to mastering the first one so it might take me a bit to get through part 2. Oh and if you are getting the second one it would do you good to get the first one as well becuase they refer to the moves on the first dvd but you can probably get by with just watching them do it. Oh and if you are looking for a video that is slow paced you might want to try something else becuase it does seem to move fast but then again you can just keep replaying it.

I am sooo happy that these movies have finally been released on DVD! I have to admit, I love watching these with the kids! I love the costumes, backgrounds, music and really good child actors. The stories are great too! So much fun on a cool fall night! Buy this DVD, pop some corn and enjoy!
By the way, if your worried that they might be too scary, don't. My son watched these at 5 and was not afraid at all. There are villians, but they are done in a fun way.

The Motion Picture of the Book by Max Lucado

This is the story of the Ronman soldier who was on guard at the Tomb of Jesus Christ. He had also participated in the execution of this Jewish rebel, and when the Jewish leaders bribed the other soldiers to say that Jesus' followers had stolen Jesus' body while the guards slept, this soldier wanted to know what really happened. Of course, this question is NOT what the Jews or the centurion want to be answered. The story is is very interesting, entertaining, and moving.

The down side is that the production suffers from really crappy plastic and vinyl Roman armor, improper Roman equipment and a lack of understanding about what soldiers actually were stationed in Judea, which makes me cringe when I see so many correctable anachronisms in an otherwise excellent presentataion!

This is a great film to use when witnessing to your youth group!

Celtic Sensation

There seems to be quite a controversy over various versions of this production. The PolyGram Video is the version produced for Unicorn Entertainment and packaged by Vision Video and is the one I am reviewing. The copy I have was filmed at the Point Theatre in Dublin.
Lord of the Dance captures a full range of emotions and the dances range from sexy and playful to defiant. This is a retelling of an Irish folk legend where a dark power emerges to challenge the Lord of the Dance.
Michael Flatley seems to gain his power from the audiences reaction and his energy is astounding. He almost seems to have some power over all the other dancers. The costumes are especially stunning in the last dance segment and beautiful throughoutthe production.
A mystical experience. Watch by candlelight!

I'm speechless. I cannot believe this boxed-set! Not only do they include new bonus features, but they even include the laser-disc special features with this collection. I knew there was a reason I never purchased the Legacy set. And the price is actually cheaper than the previous collection, and there is much more.
I'm looking forward to hearing the audio commentary on Aliens. Too bad James Cameron and Sigourney aren't on there. I also can't wait to see the extended version of Alien 3.
I will continue this review in a few weeks when I purchase this new stupendous version of an all-time sci-fi classic.

Former Mean Girl

Okay, I first have to admit that I'm 25, but I love this movie. When I was in HS I was definitely not the nicest and while watching this movie I totally recognized things I had done and things that had been done to me. Of course I've grown out of it but this movie totally sent be back to HS. Yuck, but I also laughed and laughed. The actors in this movie are so spot on that it's scary to see, but it's also what makes it. Some things are a little too far-fetched but what it lacks in reality it makes up for in hilarity. See it, live it, Love it.

Bloodsucking Freaks - movie DVD cover picture
One of the all time greats

When it comes to B-movies, Bloodsucking Freaks is ranked right up there with the best of them. What more could you want from a film? It has sex, violence, lots of nudity, and a crazed afro-wearing midget. Don't let the title fool you though. This movie has nothing to do with vampires, in fact except for one great scene, there really isn't much bloodsucking at all. The scene I speak of is the 'doctor' and his 'operation'. A beautiful nude blonde is strapped to a chair. First the doc pulls all her teeth out with a pair of pliers (this is to ensure she doesn't bite). Then he shaves the top of her head, drills a hole through the center of her skull, inserts a tube and sucks out the blood and gray matter. Fascinating.

There are so many scenes in this movie it is difficult to describe them all. The spanking guillotine scene is a favorite of mine, espescially what the midget does with the head after he takes it out of the basket. The midget is one weird little dude, he has a craving for human eyes, always wins at backgammon (another great scene) and is a hell of a little cymbal player.

The plot for this flick is pretty simple. A weird dude operates an S&M torture show in New York. This is a front for his white slavery business. When he's not performing with his cast, he simply tortures whoever is available. He has a cage of cannibalistic wenches that he keeps locked up too. They are good for disposing of any unwanted snoops.

Even the cop who finally busts him gets eaten. There are no winners here, good guys and bad guys die alike. Well the cannibal women do get free and eat their master, so I guess that's good. The final scene before the 'THE END' pops up is hilarious. You'll never eat a hot dog again without thinking of 'Bloodsucking Freaks'.

So enjoy this movie for what it is. I do.

Speechless!!! A Wonderful Cinema Experience... A Fantasy...

The Wu Xia books come alive on widescreen! Thanks to Ang Lee, the recent winner of the UK 2001 BAFTA Best Director award (equivalent of the Oscars), brings the beauty of the very best of culture, plot, fights and landscape into a cinema experience.
It was one of the most wonderful film experience I have ever had. You will probably come out from cinema speechless and have your mind dwelling on it for a while, I must say, if you enjoy good things, this is the film to watch.
The breathtaking cinematography and music carried me into a dreamy state but yet the ending strikes a blow a reality that achieve a wonderful balance. The fight scenes in the film has really set a new standard for action movies, it is really quite unimaginable how you could top this film.
If you can read, please watch the film, the isn't a greater disservice you can do to yourself if you miss this film on widescreen cinema just because you feel that reading the subtitle is a difficult thing.
When the film ended, there was a complete silence in the theather/cinema, no one moved. As we left the place, no one say a word, then everyone will progressively exclaimed, 'What a great film!'.
This is one film that will quiet you for a while because your mind is dwelling on the fantasy that you have gained from it. A beautiful cinema experience that will probably leave you, rather Speechless...
