Very good but very sad.

It's a very complicated and beautiful drama. However it's very sad and everything you don't want to happen does. So if you don't mind being frustrated with the character's decisions then you will enjoy a well-written and well-acted movie.

Fascinating view of Columbine High School shootings

I had the opportunity to see PEACEJAM at the Newport Beach Film Festival. It was really moving and inspirational. The most interesting part of the movie was the description of the Columbine High School shootings, from the point of view of two of the young people who were in the cafeteria at the time it happened. Also, it gave the story of Richard Castaldo, who was in the movie, "Bowling for Columbine". I really enjoyed this documentary and learned a lot from it.

"The panties your mother laid out for you"

After the first 3 seasons came out on DVD, I couldn't wait to get the fourth. The fourth season is the season that made Seinfeld what it is. It put it at the top. This sitcom is what I think the best sitcom ever besides "Married With Children", which is kind of odd because Michael Richards (Kramer) actually auditioned to play the part of Al Bundy but didn't get. Can you imagine that? Anyways this season doesn't come only with the episodes. You get inside looks, commentary, basically everything you get in the first, second, and third season. You just also get the acceptation speech from the Emmy's from the Seinfeld cast. You also get some other stuff, just look at the features thing. For a true Seinfeld fan like myself, you won't be disappointed by this DVD.

No, not true to the book, yet still a masterpiece

If fidelity to the source material is important to you, then perhaps this isn't your film; but for connoisseurs of the art of acting, this film is in a class by itself. Liam Neeson's earnest, highly nuanced portrayal of Jean Valjean is as genuine as it gets; Geoffery Rush's Javert goes beyond all previous readings of the character and gives him a humanity at once despicable yet sympathetic.
I haven't seen her turn in a role this sensitive before or since (and I wonder why), but here Claire Danes effortlessly imbues her character with sweet, innocent beauty, never straying into cloying cutesy-poo. But even among this overwhelming host of Thespian excellence, Uma Thurman, who has never shied from a challenge, defines the character of Fantine for now and all time, with a heartbreaking authenticity that never fails to bring tears to this cynic's eyes.
There are few films ever with so many flawless portrayals, and it would be in my all-time Top 20 for the actors and acting alone - but add locations of incredible beauty, lovingly photographed, impeccable, intuitive, all-but-invisible editing, magnificent costumes, a deeply moving score - and I feel this is a film that could not possibly be improved upon (except that it comes to an end all too soon).
I'm certain that film students 20 or 30 years from now will be heard to marvel at how such a sublime, timeless work of art, a true labor of love for all involved, could have gone unheralded in it's own time.

Great Movie!!!!

I'm glad that I went to the theater to watch this. I love the story. I enjoyed the 80's theme that the movie had going on. Jennifer is great in her role as Jenna. It was also nice to see Mark Ruffalo (I've never seen him in any movie other than this..I like him now, he's great) This has a lesson to it: If you wish for something, you might get it..and then you may come to the realization that it's not what you really want. I've seen the comparisons to other movies, but I do think this has some unique qualities this time around. See this, it's a nice, light story to fill the heart.

This movie is among the top five ever made

"Princess" triggered the old water works, by no means an easy feat with me. I was in Blockbuster recently and the checkout guy told me I was renting out my 500th video. That made me feel vaguely ashamed, considering that most movies are junk. Every once in a while though, we discover a gem that justifies all the crapola that insults our intelligence. This is one such gem. Look at my other reviews; I don't hand out five stars all that often. Instead, I usually trash movies, as most of 'em deserve.

Besides the very moving scenes that will raise goosebumps on anybody with a pulse, what I love about this film is the originality and meticulous care and planning that went into every aspect. I have never seen a movie remotely like this. The language barrier (German) was rapidly overcome by the expressive acting, so universal that a person of any land can understand. The nurse (the same actress who played in "Run, Lola, Run", a good film also) is easily among the best actresses in the world.

[WARNING-PLOT ELEMENTS REVEALED IN THIS PARAGRAPH.] In a nutshell, a thief saves the life of a nurse during a traffic accident. Then he exits from her life. After her recovery, she returns to her rather boring passionless life at a psychiatric hospital, but she cannot overcome her longing for this mysterious man. Next begins her struggle to find, and once finding, to win over this indifferent, hostile warrior who is tormented by nightly visitations from a dead girlfriend.

Now I will place a little caveat here. I loaned this out to a Mormon acquaintance and all she could say was how horrified she was that the nurse performs a sexual act which she judged gratuitous. If that sort of thing bothers you, definitely avoid. Look at Linda Linguvic's review below, and contemplate the typical female aversion to non-conformity, to anything out of the ordinary not produced by market-tested formula. She is a "Top 50" reviewer as I write this, so obviously many people share her "aversions" to "strange" movies. I am only a "top 32,000" reviewer and receive a large proportion of "Not Helpful" votes from people who disagree with me. But this movie made me cry, and I can count the movies that do that on one hand, and I have watched thousands.

If Hollywood's formula drivel leaves you cold, and you like Romance, then give this German gem a spin.

ENJOYED THE MOVIE ALL THE WAY THROUGH!

After reading an average 4 to 5 star review of this film, i just had to give it a try out. I like the actors especially kate hudson and the 3 kids. I normally go for quite a lot of different looking films and don't read about them and i normally enjoy them too. So if you looking for a good relaxing film with kids in it, go for this.
