Even a great film for guys like me...

Elf seems to be a Christmas classic already. while i'm usually enjoying horror/thriller films, i've seen this three times already and can't get enough of it. while it's for sure not the funniest movie ever, it's one of the best family films ever. whenever you watch this, you will have but no choice but to be left in the Christmas mood. so unless you want to end up like Buddy and obsessed with Christmas year-round, i suggest you only watch this film near the holiday. for sure one of the greatest. with so many people reving about it you'd figure it's just over-rated. well it's not. it really is that good.

Futurama, Vol. 3 - movie DVD cover picture
Holds up to repeat viewings!

It is a crying shame that Fox opted to cancel Futurama in favor of more insipid reality television. At a time when network TV programming panders to the lowest common denominator, Futurama aims at a more sophisticated audience. On the surface, the show is just downright fun to watch: it's silly, it's colorful, it's fast-paced. On repeated viewings, however, you become aware of a number of subtle, time-release jokes that simply don't hit you on the first viewing. Season 3 is especially noteworthy because of the classic "Roswell that ends well," which I missed on its original airdate. ...When I caught the episode on Cartoon Network last year, I was only able to breathe during the ad breaks. ...

These DVDs rock

I just finished the 13th episode and I am hoping someone somewhere releases the 2nd and final season of S.W.A.T. Like every good show in the 1970's and early 1980's, you got into the show, even though it may have not had good production value, after you heard the THEME music! I am a child of the 1970s and I am buying EVERYTHING I can find from that era and this is a MUST BUY. I didn't buy my copy from Amazon but I am buying up everything I see on this site. The only thing missing here is a DVD for Wonder Woman and Stone Cold Steve Austin, the 6 million dollar man!

Jason X - movie DVD cover picture
More of an action

Believe it or not, this proved to be a pleasant surprise. After seeing "Freddy vs. Jason" I felt it was time to finally see the Jason movies once and for all. I have watched all 10 of them this weekend. Some were great... others were horrible. I was dreading the day I'd finally give this one a chance as I thought it would be terrible. Surprise, surprise, "Jason X" proves to be an entertaining addition to the Jason series that dishes out a bloody good time.
We've seen Jason in all sorts of periods of time... except for the future. That's right. The date is 2455 and a group of students stumble upon the body of Jason Voorhees. They take him to their ship hoping to find out more about him. Big mistake, as they have awaken the beast. Now he's controlling the ultimate bloodbath in space where nobody can save them now.
Like I said, I really did not expect this to be good. I was really surprised by how entertained I was by the movie. It is TEN TIMES better than "Jason Goes to Hell" (which in my mind was a complete disaster). Let's face it, when you go to see a Jason movie you're not looking for Shakespeare. You're not looking for an Orson Welles masterpiece. You want to see Jason brutally tear people apart with an assault of various weapons. And that's what "Jason X" accomplishes. And it even does it in a neat way. It sounds like it could be a mess, but the "space" setting is actually a neat and different approach to the already "legend" Jason movies. After all, you can only have Jason attacking campers at Crystal Lake so many times before it becomes old and tired. My hat is off to the originality that went behind the script.
The DVD has some really cool features. First, the movie looks AMAZING. A crystal clear picture quality all the way. The sound is impressive as well, as you can watch it in DTS if your system allows it. Special features include commentary, "Jump to a Death" option, a behind-the-scenes featurette, trailers and so much more. The best feature is the "Jump to a Death" feature which enables you to watch certain killings from the movie separately, at random, or all together. A very cool DVD that is more than impressive.
"Jason X" is what it is; a slasher flick with a new idea behind it. You're not going to watch it for the great acting, the in-depth plot or storyline, or to be intrigued and intellectually stimulated. You see it to watch Jason kill many, many people. You see it for the mayhem, the chaos and the brutality behind this masked fiend's bloodlust. While it's not the best one in the series, it definitely surpasses the bad ones in every way (mainly naming parts 3, 5 and "Jason Goes to Hell"). I have to admit it, it is a very enjoyable addition to the Jason series. If you're a fan of the hockey-masked killer, then I recommend it. You may be surprised. I know I was.

Birds, Birds, Birds! An Indoor Birdwatching Field Trip DVD Video Bird and Bird Song Guide - movie DVD cover picture
Just Terrific!

I've been an avid Birder for a long time, and I have just about every guidebook there is, so this DVD was a welcome change of pace. Beautifully presented, and it is good for the newby or the old hand like me.
It also has some interactive features, including a bird quiz (which I aced, natch!).
It catalogues birds found in the Midwest (my turf) and the Eastern USA, where I also spend a lot of time on my other hobby (rockhounding), so I expected that I would have checked off a lot of the birds, but I learned to my surprise and delight that there are plenty of lifers waiting for me.

An extraordinary,captivating mental cliffhanger,as usual

Once again, Todd McFarlane brings to the masses another wonderful installment one of my favorite characters in animation,SPAWN. This particular video has a well written plot as well as phenominal visuals.I was soooo deep into this video that I was upset when it ended. But then again, this will keep me anticipating the next installment...and there better be another installment or myself and others may have to start a revolt!!! Just kidding!!!Keep up the good work,McFarlane!!

Memorable--needs repeat preformances

This musical is one of my favorites of all time. Memorable music and performances. One of the few Broadway musicals transformed to film that is as close to the original play. A definate 4th of July tradition.

Oh My God!

I am not disappointed in any aspect of this release! Being a self-proclaimed "Magnumologist" since the show was popular, I've been anxiously awaiting this release. My only concern is that I haven't been able to find any information on the release dates for the subsequent seasons. I spent years taping the whole series on VHS tapes and I'm ready to have the whole DVD series collection on the shelf. Bring 'em on!
