Stalingrad - movie DVD cover picture
Very Terrifying and very realistic in my opinion

I do not want to tell you the story. But all I can say that the battle sequences in the city is one of the best I have ever seen. It almost was like those sequences in Saving Private Ryan. But this was much better (it was more detailed). but I must warn you this movie is graphicly violent, much like Saving Private Ryan (another great movie).
Some reviewers may not like this movie so try to rent it first if you can, so you can judge for yourself.
In comparism with other war movies this movie is Saving Private Ryan meets All Quiet on the Western front.
in conclusion a great war movie.

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Tolkien's Epic Fantasy Continues

Following in the tradition set by its predecessor "The Fellowship of the Ring", "The Two Towers" continues where "Fellowship" left off. The two hobbits Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) begin their journey to Modor to destroy the ring. Along the way, they encounter Gollum (Andy Serkis), a mysterious creature who agrees to be their guide, but Gollum is hiding a secret of his own.
Meanwhile, the battle between the forces of Sauron and the people of Rohan wages on. Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) have joined forces with the people of Rohan to thwart the attacks of Sauron's Orcs and his evil magician Saruman (Christopher Lee). Determined to make Rohan an example in his desire to rid Middle Earth of Men, Sauron has unleashed his full fury against its people, but the people of Rohan, led by their king, once under Sauron's control but freed by Gandalf (Ian McKellen), have retreated to their mighty fortress of Helm's Deep. It is here where they will stand and fight.
The battle scenes at Helm's Deep are the high point of the film. The special effects are like none I've ever seen before. I thought the ones in the first movie were good, but these are much better. The acting is superb throughout, but I think Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom deserve special recognition. Their characters of Aragorn and Legolas are my favorites, and the producers could not have picked two better actors to fill these rolls. I cannot wait for the final installment "The Return of the King". If its anything like "The Two Towers", then it will be nothing less than excellent. Watch this wonderful movie and see Middle Earth come to life.

Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo - movie DVD cover picture
Well-written and hilarious!

I'd never been a big Rob Schneider fan, but this movie has changed my mind. After the tears quit running down my face from all the laughter, I was able to really appreciate all the great points the movie makes. Rob's character is wonderfully naive (a trait absent from many characters) and completely unassuming (except when he buys the sea snails). His unwitting foray into the world of being a man-whore is a story you won't forget. The supporting characters are just as funny as Deuce, and even though they may have brief scenes, the scenes are memorable. You'll laugh until you hurt when he takes his "date" with Tourette's Syndrome out on the town, and you'll get a kick out of how he solves the problems of entertaining a narcoleptic. The little epilogues at the end of the film give you a great follow-up on how each of the characters fared out. One of the messages this movie puts in front of you is this: accepting people for their quirks or problems isn't that difficult if you really try.
All in all, a great comedy that reminds us that humanity is possible in any situation with enough effort.

Save the Last Dance - movie DVD cover picture

I loved Save the Last Dance. When I was reading the reviews of this movie, one in particular, made me sick. The one by Vic Blacksmith was terrible. What is wrong with a white girl dating a black guy? You, sir, are a racist. Julia Stiles is a talented actress, not "whale dung" as you so wonderfully put it. Sean Patrick Thomas is very cute, and a great actor, and I would date him any day, even if, as you put it, a black guy. It doesn't matter. After September 11th, you should be ashamed of attacking people just because of their color, or race. That is why we are in the mess we are now, because we aren't tolerated by some people. I hope you feel good about yourself.

I saw this movie on the theater to see this Tim Burtons produced film, and surprise! the movie sucked, the music is based from the book and the book is based from Roal Dahl, but it was a tragic disaster, even the good music and songs from Randy Newman(Toy Story, A Bug's Life) doesn't save the damn movie, at least it's better than Tim Burton's previous film The NigthMare Before Christmas.

True Pleasure... not a RUMOR

I've never seen a concert or a concert video of this historic band before. So, it's a true pleasure for me to watch them and their perfoemance on this DVD. All the songs are great and bring me back to 70's and 80's with some memeries. They all are very talented. Particularly I was mesmerised by Lindsay with his guitar: "Big Love" is awesome! And it's so good to see Stevie with "Gipsy" and Christine with "Songbird". It was a nice try to perform with the marching band. So... try this!!

Bridget Jones's Diary - movie DVD cover picture
I Like You Just the Way You Are

When Helen Fielding published BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, the heroine BRIDGET became a symbol of the slightly overweight, chainsmoking, spinster-to-be that rang such a resonant bell both here in the United States and in England. Renee Zellweger had no trouble mastering a British accent as she stumbles and fumbles her plodding way in scene after scene, yet with each mini-disaster she emerges as the kind of woman that one rarely sees on either the big screen or small: one who is a walking mass of tics and insecurities. Director Sharon McGuire borrowed liberally from PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen to update the tale of a young woman seeking lasting love, but having to stumble along the way. Colin Firth, who played Darcy Fitzwilliam in the BBC production of Austen's classic, here reprises--sort of--his role as the emotionlessly haughty Mark Darcy who sees Bridget at first only as she surely sees herself, a lump of undesirable femininity that wears bad clothes. He sees her, he rejects her with the same cutting remarks that as Darcy Fitzwilliam he used against Elizabeth Bennett. Bridget turns to her trio of friends who in their unswerving and funny support very nearly steal the show. Bridget chainsmokes in between binge eating, all the while threatening to blimp out as the rapidly aging spinster that all mothers warn their daughters about should these daughters forget that extra weight guarantees no husband. But Bridget has gumption. She jumps on a stationary bicycle, and despite the many references to her supposed pudginess, still manages to look quite attractive in the many scenes where you can see her legs and butt. Along the way, she begins an affair with her boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), who starts off as the perfect date: handsome, suave, debonnaire, and single. Hugh Grant is the Cary Grant of our age. In most of his films, he is the male second banana to top rank actresses like Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock. With these actresses, he need do no more than set up the inevitable romantic machinery that allows him to meet, romance, break up, and then reconcile with them. He is quite good at that, but it is only in his rare role as the slightly raffish player that a newer and darker side emerges. Grant as Daniel is not evil nor is he particularly vindictive. He is a handsome man who has learned to trade in on his looks for so long that he has never had to look elsewhere for self-confidence. Still, as a counterfoil to Bridget, he is roguishly charming as a man who once betrayed a friend and has had to regret it ever since. Colin Firth as Mark Darcy comes across as the stuffy bear that he is, but it takes Bridget the longest time to recognize that he is the way that he is because of the ways that both she and Daniel are. When Mark tells her that he likes her just the way she is, Bridget's metamorphosis from fake external Playboy bunny glamour to the more substantial beauty that results when one has one's emotional feet firmly planted becomes clear enough to both her trio of friends and to the audience who is not sure whether the stuffiness of Mark or the suavity of Daniel would be the better choice. The choice that Bridget does make is one that reaffirms the validity of common sense romantic entanglements. BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY is a treat on so many levels that when she does make her choice, we can only applaud what to us would have been that same choice.
