My all-time favorite Western

This movie, though a little dry and slow-moving in some places, is incredible. The passionate storyline of the struggle of the tin-pans against the evil villan who runs the local town is riveting. Eastwood's character is intense and he portrays him in a way only Clint can do. The retributions paid to the evil are awesome and the ending shootout scene with the duster-clad Marshal Stockburn and his deputies was intense. I especially enjoyed John Russell's performance of the crooked lawman, who I feel was one the best aspects of the movie.

Zombies that run.....way cool

Okay, i love a good horror movie,i really love a good suspense movie. This combines both aspects into one of the best"edge of your seat" flicks I have seen in a long time. First, unlike most zombie movies, these run...fast. Very scary and heart pounding at times. You find yourself liking the characters (even the bad ones). The story line has some holes in it,but name me one movie that fits in this genre that doesn't have some kind of plot hole in it. I feel that this movie took over where Resident Evil left off (with the zombies on speed basically). I appreciated the alternate endings that are available on the DVD and was kind of upset that they gave in and gave the theatre release a typical "Hollywood" ending, but knowing that there were alternatives is refreshing. Not sure if this is a movie I would want to own(once you've seen it you pretty much know how it goes and i don't see it being a repeat view type of deal)but definately worth seeing at least once.

Here Come THE JETS!

WEST SIDE STORY remains unique...to the point of astounding...in status among most accomplished classics in cinema history. Legendary director Robert Wise[whose eclectic mastery of film ranges from "lost" mythology epic, HELEN OF TROY to sci-fi milestones-THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and STAR TREK:The Movie]perfectly renders a film of passion;tragedy;humor and ultimate celebration of youthful humanity. Leonard Bernstein's score is peerless Americana: classic ART and popular entertainment.Jerome Robbins'choreography is electrifying;Steven Sondheim's "libretto lyrics" are ensconded in popular music immortality.
West Side Story's ensemble cast is likewise peerless.Natalie Wood is superb as American JULIET, Maria. Richard Beymer's Tony/Romeo charcterization wonderfuly combines heroic "tough guy" with star-crossed lover. George Chakris(Bernardo)and Russ Tamblyn (Riff)jive; fight and dance their rival gangs into legend. My favorite is Rita Moreno. Her performance as earth mother/eternal woman figure, ANITA is remarkable. Her ferocious sexual brio;lioness-Queen humor("if you can fight in/for AMERICA!");home girl insouciance, and passionate GRACE are archetypal.WEST SIDE STORY thematically equals--if not surpasses--its SHAKESPEAREAN progenitor. It is America's SOUND OF MUSIC.The ten Academy Awards could be justly re-awarded.
[When I learned "my" homies back in Massachusetts'Pelham Regional High School...citadel/incubator of so-called 5-college professoriate and University of Mass'PC satrapy centered in Amherst...BANNED WEST SIDE STORY as Racist(this year the school is featuring VAGINA MONOLOGUES)I wondered: "WHERE ARE THE JETS when you need them?"]...
Certainly WSS was never conceived--as Mel Gibsons's THE PASSION OF CHRIST--to stir Culture War and rally believers. WEST SIDE STORY is,"unsimply",American film making at its finest and cinema art of world class caliber. It is movie ICON,which,as The JETS challenge, remains at-the-ready: "to beat every last f.....'gang on the whole f.....'street!"(10 Stars)

I don't actually own this dvd, but i have seen the episodes over here and they are funny! I had never heard of the twins before but i really like the shows (and their clothes!). I dont know them or anything, but I get kinda annoyed when people say that all of their fans must have no imagination n stuff cuz it just makes them seem jelous of their success. Doesnt their success show that these episodes and movies that they've made must be pretty good and have a high rating? I just dont understand it. Anyway, peace and love!

Outstanding Harry Potter film

For the first time, Warner Bros. have joined forces to release a Harry Potter movie with tons funny jokes that might be funny for some people. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabam" is the story of a 13 year old Harry Potter goes on his third year to school and really hates the summer holidays spending them with the Dursleys. After blowing up Aunt Marge, he decided to leave immediately. He goes on the Knight Bus to get to Diagon Alley to get year 3 supplies. He finds out that Sirius Black had escaped from Azkabam prison on his bus ride. He goes on the search to find Sirius Black. During on one of their adventures when Harry thought that James Potter saved him and Sirius from dementors, he and Hermione use a watch to go back in time to find out that Harry saved himself from getting killed by the dementors. Dementors get unreleased at Hogwarts and its up to Harry to get rid of them. Big trouble. Boosted by the cool guy Daniel Radcliffe, the awe-inspiring scenery and the moving storyline, this is a movie for a Harry Potter fan to enjoy, and they'll love it. I enjoyed the first two "Harry Potter" movies, but this one is the best, and I was happy to see it at theaters and when it was on DVD.

A Spectacular, Beautiful John Woo Film

Before seeing Hard Boiled, I had only seen John Woo's American work - Mission Impossible 2, Broken Arrow and Face/Off. If you've seen these movies, you've seen a glimpse of the style and grace that Woo brings to film. And let me tell you, it is a small glimpse. Hard Boiled, made in Hong Kong, eclipses all of his American work by leaps and bounds.
The plot is solid and the acting above average (I especially liked Tony Leung as the undercover cop - his acting was particularly inspired), but what make this movie such a great movie are the beautiful action sequences by Woo and Chow Yun-Fat, who delivers a better performance than in his American work as well. It's been said many times, but the sequences are absolutely poetic, and unlike M:I-2, original and inspired. This is a great movie, and for those of you who love action, is a great introduction to the master of action (again, forget his American work - there's no comparison).

Took me a while to warm up to.....

Bali, Stoli and nothing but humor. This is the funniest television show of our time. The British knew what they were doing when they brought this gem back. Eddie and Pats are the Brits version of a single Lucy and Ethel. The returns of Eddie's daughter Saffron, gran,Eddie's whacky assistant Bubble, Justin and Marshal are also wonderful to see as well. In addition to the new characters Katy Grin and Lady Candy are nice touches. The fact that Eddie had put down her Lacroix, who gives a cameo in the Paris episode, for a little more toned down style like Burrberry is a nice change. The episode when they go to the Manson concert is hilarious! Though it doesnt have the pazazz it had before it still beats out anything on television today.

Improved to Better Dovetail All 6 Episodes

For people who have NEVER seen ANY of the Star Wars films (like my 1 yr old grandson) Lucas's changes have made it possible for newbies to watch the films from the beginning and not be confused (ie, "hey grandpa, why does the emperor in The "Empire Strikes Back" look different from the emperor in "Return of the Jedi"?) Without the improvements, future fans of Star Wars would be hopelessly left with films that don't quite fit together in a nice, tidy package. Kudos to George Lucas for having the guts to make the changes necessary to insure future generations will enjoy this wonderful story.

For those of you too selfish to see the big picture Lucas is trying to paint - GET A LIFE!

Worth It to Watch!

I own the VHS of this movie and I enjoyed it very much (seen it about 4 times already). I usually don't care for musicals very much, but when I watched this movie, I enjoyed it and learned alot about Evita at the same time (even though it wasn't exactly correct). I enjoyed the music too...two of my favorites in this movie is "A New Argentina" and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall". I already know Madonna's singing (ever since I was a teen in the 1980s), but Antonio Bandaras' singing is surprising....he is great in it! If you enjoy musicials, or Madonna, Antonio, or Jonathan Pryce, you will love this movie! :) I enjoyed it alot myself.
