Underestimated Actress Suzanne Somers

Season 4 is probably the best last classic season of Three's Company due to the fact Suzanne Somers is still on the show. Although John Ritters was the star of the show, Suzanne Somers was the Barney Fife of the show, who had her own following. Chrissy's hospitality is one of the best shows of the season. Despite the bad publicity of Suzanne Somers's departure of Three's Company, it is evident that Suzanne Somers helped made Three's Company a classic. Joyce Dewitt is great as a straight man but wasn't in the same league as Suzanne. Suzanne, unlike Dewitt and later actresses Jenilee Harrison and Priscilla Barnes, was able to bring her ideas to the character of Chrissy Snow. So enjoy season 4 of course for the talent of the late comic John Ritter but don't forget Suzanne. P.S. Ann Wedgeworth, best friend of late actress Jayne Mansfield, is also funny as Lana and Don Knotts is classic. Joyce Dewitt is great as the straight woman but outside of a new look hasn't changed. Enjoy the last great season of Three's Company with Suzanne. Afterwards, it might as well be "The John Ritter Show."

What is wrong with you people?

I'm willing to excuse the vicious reviews this film recieved on its release as a huge misconception, you see poeple (reviewers)were expecting another retread of the charming 95 movie, in other words a cash in. What a dis-service they have done everyone. You people who have not seen this film have missed a beautiful, sad and masterful allegory. To me the film was about immigrants, their struggles , the cynicism of living in a big city (notice the ape family's indifference to the drowning dog). It's about rascism and intolerance, expressed slyly in the opera loving animal hating neighbours of the hotel at which babe stays . Yet you don't have to bother with such complex themes if you don't care to as the film is visually rich, every frame is a work of art(shot mostly at low angles with the camera moving kinetically and gracefully). These oblique shots, the special effects would make the film worth checking out on their own, but they wouldn't even be worth mentioning had the film been not so moving. I will never forget the seguence where babe saves the dog that was chasing him from drowning, or saving the dieing fish by spitting it into the river. I realise I'm blabbering but I'm actually quite bitter at all those critics, they contributed a great deal to this films financial failure and thus the film was not even released overhere cinematically(I just saw it on video). To me this film is a noble immigrant's tale written like a novel by Charles Dickens, performed by the one and only Babe and directed by Goerge Miller. I don't even care "who the film is suitable for", that is irrelevant, it is purely and simply a shamefully overlooked masterpiece. Babe was wonderful film, this one is completely different and all the better for it."That'll do Pig", indeed it will.

havent even bought it yet

I have the original Pumping iron on video tape. It is extremely good. I would buy the DVD just to avoid the fear of my VCR eating the original tape. I have watched it about a hundred times. And if there is any extra scenes, it will be like christmas all over again.

Original and Best

This was a great movie from a lost age of silly moviemaking. While the sequals were too trying, the original is a classic from the 80s. Porky's, Animal House, Stripes and Police Academy are all cut from the same mold. Silly, mindless fun. This was when movies were dumb and a whole lot more fun!

One of the Better Films I've Seen

I hate superlatives over the top and final about how a movie was simply the best out there. But, Peter Sollett has made a nuanced gem in "Raising Victor Vargas." Why haven't more people heard about this movie?
"Raising Victor Vargas," is a coming of age story about love, life, poverty, inner-city, and family. Though it gives a good slice of culture in the Puerto Rican, Dominican, Latino lower East Side New York it transcends culture as well. It tells of humanity with ethnicity as an afterthought.
The cast is a group of non-professional actors that seem like they have been acting for years. This leaves the movie with a documentary feel that focuses on the story of boy becoming a man and a grandmother attempting to hold a family together as best she knows how...she ends up painfully growing too.
There's no big care chases, we don't get to witness people dying on screen, no big explosions or gun fights, but we are riveted by the tale. It proves the pundits wrong I believe...a movie doesn't have to be big Hollywood to gain an audience. "Victor Vargas" speaks for itself and running the course will keep drawing in audiences by word of mouth and reputation.
Victor finds a way to make the best out of life, to hold a family together, to gain a rite of passage to manhood, to fall in love along the way. Holden Caulfield watch out, Vargas is alive.

Icin' and Slicin'

This movie is terrible. I don't know if it's worse than the first or not. Again, the plot is predictible and stupid. Again, the acting is hit or miss. And again, I love to torture my friends with this film when they come to visit.
Unlike the first DVD, this DVD includes some fun extras. There's a music video where the actors rap all about Jack Frost. And there's behind the scenes footage (which I found somewhat disappointing). My favorite "extra" is the director's commentary track. It's fun to be able to hear what the director was thinking when he made the movie.
Don't let anyone fool you. This movie is loads of fun. It doesn't take itself seriously. You shouldn't either.

Haunting

When I saw this film for the first time I had an almost visceral reaction to it. Its haunting imagery has stayed with me ever since. I was quite young at the time (weren't we all) and new to foreign films. I was dazzled and excited by what an evening "at the movies" could offer me. I am almost reluctant to see this film again as I am afraid it will not have the same impact now as it did then. Kind of like your first love...never to be repeated with the same intensity...

Great Price for a classic piece of history!!!

I thought the 50% discount was the best part of the deal but the DVD extras for Wild Style are just as valuable as the film itself. Cut footage of female rapper Lisa Lee should be sent to Lil' Kim when she goes to prison in September-reality check indeed. Also the graffiti and photo galleries give the other hip-hop elements center stage.
