Ultraviolet - movie DVD cover picture

The other reviews pretty much say enough about this great British series. The only unfortunate thing is the fact that 6 episodes leaves you still hungry for more. This series is different from most vampire flicks because it relies on the characters and the plot heavily. The viewer gradually learns about each character and their pasts. The story starts "open" and ends "open", and you feel like you were fed only a fraction of the story's potential: that's what makes it so REAL. Despite the lack of heavy special effects, the acting is great (particularly the main 4 crusaders) and the story is gripping, interesting and solid, each story with its own twist and its own controversy. I couldn't stop watching. Do not, however, expect too much (a few isolated moments) of the usual "fangs and blood" combo. This is closer to a british "X-Files", with style, wit and lots of character. As a matter of fact, I don't even recall hearing the word "vampire" mentioned by any of the main characters. Highly recommended!

The Wiggles - Yummy Yummy - movie DVD cover picture
The Gold Standard for children's videos

I love the Wiggles, my wife loves the Wiggles, and most importantly so do my 1 1/2 year-old son and 5 year-old daughter. As a musician myself, the songs are consistently first-rate--catchy, varied, and engagingly performed. The choreography is also excellent--elegantly designed to be both engaging to watch but easy to imitate, and very well performed by both the adults and children. None of the sappy sentimentality or general dimwittedness of Barney, just plain FUN. I don't quite understand the hair-splitting over Yummy Yummy vs. Wiggle Time--our family simply loves both tapes, and we've been watching both of them over and over. I've also been humming the songs at work as well, and more importantly not at all minding that. My daughter admits the puppets are "weird," but we all got over that one, and "Point Your Finger" is an amazingly fun little techno song. In short, these guys have a great thing going, and if you hate other kid-vids you might nonetheless just love the Wiggles.

Grosse Pointe Blank

Grosse Point Blank, starring John Cusack and Minnie Driver, was quite enjoyable. It focused on a professional hit man (Martin Blank, played by John Cusack) with the gruesome task of completing his next mission in his hometown of Grosse Point, Michigan, to which he relunctantly accepts. He returns to Grosse Point on the weekend of his High School reunion. When he returns to Grosse Point, he finds his former girlfriend Debbie, who he abandoned on prom night. While in Grosse Point, he is also on the run from an angry associate's henchmen. This was a very funny dark comedy with a few slightly violent scences and a moderate amount of profanities. I would recommend this movie to many.

Three legends in their prime

This is a delightful romantic comedy about the life and loves of a high society girl. Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn) is about to be married to George Kittredge (John Howard), a self made man who elevated himself from the lower class. The wedding is supposed to be a private affair, but Tracy's ex-husband C.K. Dexter Haven (Cary Grant) blackmails her into letting two reporters, Macaulay Conner and Elizabeth Imbrie (James Stewart and Ruth Hussey) cover the event. What ensues is a screwball courtship for the heart of Tracy as everyone falls in love with her at once.
Director David Cukor ("Little Women", "My Fair Lady") provides a fast paced comedy with rapid-fire repartee and fosters a bubbly chemistry between the cast members, which brims with laughs. Cukor received one of his five Oscar nominations for this film and it was well deserved.
Katharine Hepburn is marvelous as the blueblood bride to be. She is a well-grounded girl who is not beyond putting on airs for show. She is simultaneously sassy and dreamy and her comic timing is superb earning her one of twelve nominations for best actress. Despite a star's billing, Cary Grant plays a supporting role as the sarcastic Dexter Haven. With his deadpan delivery, he provides the perfect foil to Hepburn and Stewart.
Even with the luminous cast, Jimmy Stewart steals the show with a comedic tour de force. His inebriated scene with Cary Grant is uproariously funny and his puppy dog wooing of Katherine Hepburn is enchanting. It is hard to believe that James Stewart only won one Oscar in his outstanding career. Though nominated five times, the only role for which he won the statue is this one, a performance that is unquestionably among his best.
This tremendous comedy brings together three screen legends at the peak of their careers. It was nominated for six Academy Awards winning two, and it was rated #51 on AFI's top 100 of the century. It is a timeless classic that is sure to please. I rated it a 10/10. See it and enjoy.

Slednecks Rocks!

My girlfriend is ready to burn this DVD because she's seen it about 4 or 5 times.
It rocks!
Unbelievable scenes: Cliff jumping, helicopter sledding, 200foot jumps, jumps over ski chalets, mountain climbs in Iceland, the world's first Ski Doo backflip, and much much more. All to an obnoxious new-rock soundtrack that fits this video to a tee. Could've edited out the dippy MTV girl in one segment. After a guy crashes trying to jump over a ski lift, her insightful comment: "All Bad! All Bad! OH OH OH!!!" Well, duhhhhhhh......
If you have any interest in snowmobiling, you'll love this one too. Kids don't try this at home!
Notice these guys are all in their 20s and kinda NUTS!

It's about time!!!

If there was one thing Marvel did right with the Spider-Man The Animated TV Series it was produsing this great 3 chapter episode titled, THE VENOM SAGA. Although the storyline is off from the comic book version the story is nice, the idea behind it was invigorating, and most of all the depiction of VENOM was right on the mark for me. The greatest nightmare and allie roled into two. Expect this to sell out fast and become hard to find. This 3 part set is the most saught after of all the Animated Spider-Man episodes!

I didn't get past 10 minutes before I had to turn this movie off! I have no idea if the movie itself is good or bad, but this transfer is absolutely horrid! Theatrical version available on DVD overseas

Like many people here, I detest the recut DVD version of this film. Seeing the original theatrical version in 1992 was one of the key moviegoing experiences of my life. I don't buy DVDs to see a new spin on a movie I liked, I buy them to be able to rewatch that same movie. Alternate cuts are fine as a bonus feature, but once I saw how Michael Mann had butchered his mainstream masterpiece, giving no option of seeing how it was originally, I sold the DVD and bought a copy of the mercifully untouched widescreen VHS.

Recently, however, I discovered that while this American director's cut DVD is from Fox, Warner Bros holds the rights to Mohicans outside the USA, and they have released the original theatrical version on DVD aruond the globe. I have a regionless DVD player, which is easy to get in many stores for under fifty dollars, so I bought a copy of the British DVD at

Wow. It's as I remembered it, with the Clannad song, without the extra monologue over the closing scene, and with my favorite line back in -- "My father warned me about people like you. He said do not try to understand them, and do not try to make them understand you."

If you love this movie like I do, get a regionless DVD player, they're worth it for so many reasons, and then get a copy of the British DVD. You'll be glad you did.

loads of fun!

I really love the Bandits and when I heard they'd have an animated Christmas DVD coming out, I had to have it! It's not as good as I thought it would be ... it's BETTER! It's funny, sexy, and loads of action! This stuff would make a great comic book!

Absolutely Superb!

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what Jesus endured. Even though the Bible states it you cannot picture it until you have seen this movie. Mel Gibson definitely was chosen to produce this movie, what an excellent masterpiece! The feelings that overcome you while watching this movie are ones that you have never felt before and I'm sure no other story can produce those feelings like this one. Rather than 5 stars, I give 100 stars. It is good to be a Christian and to know that Jesus gave his life for us.
