U.S. Marshals

Tommy Lee Jones returns in this suspenseful sequel to the 1993 thriller "The Fugitive" as F.B.I. Deputy Sam Gerrard. When a man (Wesley Snipes) accused for the murders of two government officials escapes out into the wilderness after a plane crash in a lake, Gerard attempts to track down the runaway convict. But when he finds out the fugitive isn't the killer but rather his new companion (Robert Downey, Jr.), Gerrard must stand high to prove to everyone the awful truth. Directed by Stuart Baird, director of "Executive Decision", and produced by Arnold and Anne Kopelson (producers of "Eraser" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Good Movie

There are so few movies out there that can combine action and satire in one sitting, yet Starship Troopers manages to blend both into a refreshing cocktail of entertainment. True, it doesn't stay TRUE to the book, but whats the last movie that has been based on a book that has been completely faithful to the book? I dare you to name less than five movies that haven't strayed from the book, and that have been a commercial success. (Couldn't name three, could you?) Most of the people criticizing the movie didn't mention a thing about the characters, or the plot. (they mentioned that the plot didn't exist, but that's it) What is up with that? Casper van Dien plays Jonny Rico, a good ol boy from wherever. His girlfreind, Carmen Ibanez (ooh, first deviation from the book! Extremists beware!)decides to join the Federation, and he follows in her footsteps. He gets assigned to Mobile Infantry while she gets to be a Starship captian. To complete the triangle Dina Meyer plays Dizzy Flores, who likes Jonny despite the fact he likes Carmen. Ah, the tangled web we weave whenever we plan to decieve(or something like that) The result comes out as interesting interplay between the characters. The plot isn't really a factor in the movie. This might be a death nell to some other moveis, yet starship troopers has no problem explaining things on the go. The plastic acting(they're supposed to be plastic, by the way. Something about having to fill the role of a steriotype) is exeptionally...plastic. Each actor plays their part to the best of their capability. All in all, this is not only an enjoyable DVD, but an interesting story as well. It touches on the totalitarian fears that Heinlein had in his novel, yet easily appelas to people who've nerver read the book. If you like action, interplay, and just want to kick back, check the movie out. It is definitely worth your while. (to all those who say the movie is bad, try directing your own movie and see how easy it is! It wasn't as if this movie was even as bad as the Avengers!)

THE FUNNIEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

This is a great movie. Brad Pitt plays an average dorky guy, he's a lowman in a mob, and he travels to Mexico where he acts like a typical ignorant American tourist while interacting with all sort of Mexicans who enforce Brad Pitt's role as a dork... If that isn't funny I don't know what is. Don't see this movie to see Julia Roberts, go see it to see Brad Pitt and all of the Mexican extras!
Also the muscle car enthusist may appriciate the scene where Brad Pitt goes to a Mexican Car Rental lot to pick out a "Mexicanish" car for his mission, there they have many cleeeean late 1960s Cameros El Caminos and Chevelles.

A gentle Miracle of a movie! Enchanting!

First of all, DO NOT PASS THIS MOVIE BY BECAUSE IT HAS SUBTITLES! If you do, you will miss one of the most wonderful films of recent years, or for that matter of any year. Shall We Dance is such a pleasure because it has a great story, marvelous performances and a terrific sense of humor...all the things which are so rare in most films. Although this movie takes place in Japan, the themes are so universal that anyone will identify with them and be taken in by the sweet story. The balance of humor & drama is absolutely perfect - I just love this film. The fact that it doesn't follow any of the cliches that you would expect is a breath of fresh air that I return to regularly. A joy from start to finish.

The Importance of Being Earnest - movie DVD cover picture
Not at all Important, but a lot of fun

My memories of reading The Importance of Being Earnest are unpleasant to say the least, but I decided to give the movie version a chance (the casting held a certain appeal), and was not disappointed in the slightest.
Truly a play about nothing, the only difficulty I encountered was in hearing some of the lines after the theater had erupted in laughter.
Judi Dench is a delight to watch as a mercenary member of society. Concerned with her daughter and nephew marrying well, she is granted some of the best lines in the film:
"To lose one parent may be regarded as a misfortune, Mr Worthing. To lose both seems like carelessness."
"To speak frankly, I am not in favour of long engagements. They give people the opportunity of finding out each other's character before marriage, which I think is never advisable."
The rest of the cast also does an admirable job, appearing to relish both their roles and the superb dialogue. They jumped into the inherent silliness of the characters, and were unihibited during the requisite prat-falls and embarrassments.
...
I definitely reccomend this entertaining film, which is, as Oscar Wilde wrote, "A Trivial Comedy for Serious People."

Morgan's review

This movie is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you like this movie you should also see Shawshank Redemption. Both these movies are directed by Frank Darabont.
Plot: Tom Hanks is in charge of the prisoners sentenced for execution. Tom Hanks has a new prisoner by the name of John Coffey(Michael Clarke Duncan). Coffey was found with two dead girls in his arms and is sentenced for execution. While prisoner, Coffey helps Tom Hanks with his medical problem. Coffey has a special power to heal or give life to the dead. Coffey is not seen as a bad guy but as a real life saver in the eyes of Tom Hanks. The ending of this film is depressing. I love the mouse Mr. Jingles. In this movie they call him "A Circus Mouse."

Two Hilarious Classics For The Price Of One!

Being a big fan of these movies, raunchy and hilarious. I was recommended watching Porky's, having heard of it but never actually watching it I went and rented it. I laughed so hard!!! It was definetely worth watching, and I'm going to purchase it as well. I was looking for the sequels, and Porky's 3 aka. Porky's Revenge is not in DVD format. Guess it's because it isn't as good.
SEE IT!

Visually and aurally wonderful...,

This really is a 5* item. I bought this after seeing it several times on TV (PBS). The music is great, the footage really does seem to have captured a particularly magical concert (composed from several nights). The large audience is grooving enmass with the band (this is more like BB King live at the Regal album than Santana's later Supernatural video, shot in the US). The Mexico City footage is also inspiring and beautifully done. For not much more than the cost of a CD you get a great selection of music, a visual spectical and a chance to watch Carlos play at his very best (I am a guitarist -- so I love to watch how he plays). Oh and Santana's tone on this reached perfection -- I want that tone! A splendid video. Just buy it now, its great.
