Two Great Masterpieces.

Here we have two great works by one of the greatest of all directors. First, there is Luis Bunuel's "Un Chien Andalou." It was his first film in collaboration with the notorious surrealist painter, Salvador Dali. Watching "Un Chien Andalou" is a whole experience in itself. It is a masterpiece of the cinema because not only is it the only true surrealist movie, it is a perfect example of dreams put onto film. It makes no sense, but that's the point. "Un Chien Andalou" (French for An Andalusian Dog) is like the rememberences of a dream (or nightmare) put on film. Indeed, Bunuel and Dali wrote the script based on their dreams. This is also a great example of superreal, brilliant and shocking cinema. The first scene (indeed one of the most famous opening scenes ever) is brilliant because it keeps you watching after it has shocked you. This movie also has style and shows Bunuel's brilliance for film composition. It is both graphic, violent, merciless, and beautiful. It has images you will never be able to shake, which is a true mark of great cinema. The next movie here, "Land Without Bread," is one of the best of all documentaries. Bunuel brilliantly takes us through a hell on earth. Here too there are surrealist images that stay with the viewer, even more so because they are real. "Land Without Bread" doesn't soften the material on its subject, it does a perfect examination and tour of the poorest region in Spain. And it's interesting to note that Bunuel edited this movie on a kitchen table with a knife and a magnifying glass. "Land Without Bread" is a graphic experience that's effective and stands as a great documentary. Few directors have filmed a poor, harsh region like Bunuel does here. "Un Chien Andalou" and "Land Without Bread" are brilliant examples of Bunuel's eye for ingenious cinema that looks at reality unblinkingly. These two films are good examples of why he is the greatest of all film surrealists.

You can not possibly be disappointed!!!

This is an amazing look at the making of Fleetwood Mac's latest CD. I was so impressed with how talented this group is and how truly beautiful Stevie Nicks' voice is, raw and untouched. It was so interesting to witness the recording of the harmonies that Stevie was singing on Lindsey's songs. It also gives a glimpse of how involved Lindsey is in the production of this album. I didn't know how important he really was to this band as a producer until I started collecting videos and archived articles - I'm a recent fan and their Dance DVD and latest tour has peaked my interest in their history. Each article I read and old videos I see keep me wanting more! Specifically, this documentary starts when Stevie comes off her solo "Trouble in Shangri-La" tour and enters the studio ( a rented home in Bel Air) and ends with the band walking on stage (Lindsey and Stevie hand-in-hand)for the first night of the "Say You Will" tour. Although there are arguments and disagreements you definitely witness the love and chemistry that continues to drive this band.(It would have been even more fascinating to witness the dynamics of this group with the addition of Christine.) I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this film. It's quite long but leaves you wanting so much more!!!I could have been glued to the TV for another 2 hours easily without knowing it! Which leads me to this question - when will they release the Tusk Documentary on DVD???? It's fascinating to watch these two documentaries made 25 years apart (I have an original copy bought on e-bay!). Anyway - you will NOT be disappointed!

so glad to find all these people who know the film too!

This movie is one of my favorites. Every Halloween, I wait for this movie to come on, but this year I didn't see it on cable. I was so disapointed that they don't show it anymore. I am so happy that I can finally own this movie. I am now 22 years old, and this movie is still one of my best.

I was blown away by this movie. Anyone who guessed what happened and said it was predictable must have been geniuses because I had no clue what would happen! A total surprise, and a good one at that. Even my husband, who generally isn't into this kind of movie, enjoyed it. I would recommend it, highly.

Very Good!

This movie is really good! My friend made me see it and I was sooo surprised. It was hilarious! It's really cool to see Lauren Hill as a teen. I really like how the kids freestyle. If you live in California (esp. bay area), like Rap music, or a Lauren Hill fan, you'll like it. I think it's a creative, funny, and cool movie. It's a good movie to watch with some good friends and popcorn.

the best villians of movie time aerosmith

1. Don't go watching this movie expecting a serious plot and storyline, approach it as a modern day fairytale/cartoon combo. 2. Don't expect any dialogue: it's mostly "acting" to existing songlyrics, so to "words that are set, line by line" even when somewhere between 3 lines the situation has ceased to have anything to do with the songlyric. The only spoken words are the voice over by narrator George Burns, trying to tie all the songs into somewhat of a story or plot.
If you take the above into consideration then you'll have a fun time watching this fairytale of the good, innocent people of Heartland against the evil characters of showbizzland. Frampton, skinny and scrawny, doesn't stand out enough as the main character against his backup bandleader: tall and stunningly handsome Barry Gibb. The BeeGees vocals are much, much better than the originals by the Beatles, they're just vocally superior. Beatles producer (sir) George Martin was ecstatic about the BeeGees vocals. I could've done without Frankie Howerd and Steve Martin's part seems a bit unnecessary too, oh well. So: a good movie to spend watching with the brain on zero and some popcorn.

Blues Don't Bother Me

This movie is great! It is basically a remake of the movie and it's only down points are John Goodman as Mighty Mack and Cab Chamberlens "flight" at the tent revival meeting. There are some good points about the absence of John Belushi as Jake Blues. Dan Aykroyd gets to sing a lot more and provides a reason for Frank Oz to appear as the warden. 99.9% worth it.

Entertaining, History On Stage

This concert was filmed 50 miles from where I live, and if I had known this concert would have been going on, I would have been on the front row. Wow! Down home picking and grinning at it's best! Doc,Earl,Ricky, you can't get much better than that. Of course the pretty Alison Krauss in between.
Exceptional talent-It feels like they are sitting in the middle of your living room just picking for you. A must have for your bluegrass collection.
