Truly a DREAM CAST!!

What an awesome DVD this was... Great peformances starting with Ruthie Henshall's beautiful portrayal of Fantine, and hand in hand with Colm Wilkinson's Valjean... Michael Ball is also great! What was enthralling is Lea Salonga's performance as Eponine... simply sublime... I never really liked the old version of Eponine which was weakly, and scrappy, and i didnt care for... Lea truly delivers the true Eponine, which the audince can capture and care for.... Every note she sang is filled with emotions especially in 'On My Own'... or "A Heart Full of Love".. you can feel the unrequitedness of love.. and Eponine doesnt appear weak and scrappy... and "A Little Fall of Rain".. if you dont tear up from that performance then I don't know what I can say about you... simply amazing, super-sad, super emotional!!! This DVD is great.. love Les Mis!

The Matrix Revolutions (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

This is both a response to the naysayers and a review. I have noticed that many people did not like this movie. While I have not taken the time to read 700+ reviews, I am noticing a trend. Most of the people that did not like the movie did not really understand it. I have seen this movie several times and I think it is brilliant.
The Indian family and the Oracle's new skin seems to irritate a few people. To really understand what is going on here and in other parts of the movie, it helps to play Enter the Matrix. The video game shows you what Ghost and Niobe are doing during what is roughly the second film. In the video game, they meet with the Oracle. During this meeting, the Oracle explains the Indian girl is very important to the future of the Matrix (this will be played out on the Matrix Online). For that reason, the Oracle allowed the Indian family to save their child by giving the Merovingian the code to her shell. I noticed a relatively recent naysayer was annoyed by the Indian family at the beginning and end of the movie. Yes, they are important.
Spoiler alert! Next I address the final fight between Neo and Smith which also seems to confuse and annoy many people. The only reason I discuss this is because many people have already seen this movie and have decided they do not like it. Hopefully the following will make you think twice. I think the DVD is a good buy because the trilogy needs to be seen more than once to truly appreciate how it all comes together.
Other naysayers seem to think this is just an action flick. Yes there is a lot of shooting involved in the defense of Zion but the real conflict is the one between Smith and Neo. Smith mocked the Oracle about how she must have been waiting there for him purposely. She was. Why did Smith laugh when he absorbed her? He laughed because he saw her vision of him triumphing over Neo. THAT is why he did not attack Neo with everything he had. He knew the outcome and figured one was enough. One naysayer seemed annoyed how Smith did not act like a computer virus. Well, I credit the Wachowski brothers for not having the machines act like stereotype machines. With the coming of AI, they begin to develop human emotions. Persephone says in the video game when one of the characters asks her "What do you want?" that long ago she did not even know what that meant but that now it is all she ever thinks about. Yes Persephone persists with the Merovingian (and why not, he is powerful) but she lusts after emotion, particularly love. Does it not then stand to reason that Smith has developed a bit of an ego? He has seen the future and figures he can beat Neo with just one form of himself... how very human. The only problem for Smith was that the Oracle was using him. At the key moment, Smith says the Oracle's line of "Everything that has a beginning has an end, Neo." Smith ALWAYS calls Neo "Mr. Anderson." Now, if that was not enough to give away the Oracle's involvement, she is lying there after all of the Smiths are destroyed. The Smith fighting Neo was the Oracle-Smith. Brilliant.
Others hate this movie because it does not wrap things up nicely. Well, that is because the story is far from over. It will continue with the Matrix Online.
To sum up and keep this from being a thesis on the Matrix, this trilogy is not meant for the majority of the public. To truly understand what the Wachowski brothers have created, you need to see the Trilogy, play the Enter the Matrix video game, and watch some key parts of the Animatrix. Once you have done all of that you can begin to piece it all together and smile. If you want to see how the story continues, you need to play Matrix Online, a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online roleplaying game). The Wachowski brothers are gamers. I am one of thousands upon thousands of gamers and we are their real audience. If you want to understand, join us and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

A tale of salvation and redemption

This film dramatizes the dreams we all have that, in the midst of our despair, there shall appear a rescuer who will take care of us and lead us to salvation. These two do this for each other and, in the process, give rousing performances in the best action flick I've ever seen. I've watched this movie about once a year since I first discovered it, and am now buying a copy.

A powerful movie

I loved this movie! It is appropriate for all ages to watch with the exception of one quick scene.Of course the subject matter and depth would pass over a young child's head! It is a quiet quality movie about the growth of a man's character or maybe the revealing of the strength of character that was already there! There are few characters in the movie so you can quickly form an emotional bond with or against each one! And the movie takes place in the beautiful NC mountains during another time in history! And the music is great too! I don't want to tell you about the movie just watch it and see if you don't think it's wonderful too!

Tom Horn - movie DVD cover picture
McQueen gives his best performance of his latter career.

Steve McQueen's second to last film, "Tom Horn," is not a complete success, but his performance and the excellent production values overcome the sometimes muddled screenplay. As the famed scout whose skills seem threatening and out of place in an Old West that is gradually moving into a more modern era, McQueen is as poignant and quietly dignified as John Wayne in "The Shootist." One of the screen's greatest stars, McQueen was nonetheless vastly underrated as an actor. His performance here shows that he could convey more with his eyes than most actors could with a long-winded speech out of Shakespeare. This is one of his finest performances. Highly recommended.

A great show that should come back

I first started watching the lost world when it started the second season. I was captivated by the way the characters interacted with each other and the way the dinosaurs passed for actually good special effects considering it was a tv series.

I like Roxton, he's the man in my opinion, but Ned and Veronica are also great. When this came out on DVD I bought it with lots of anticipation, and it did not dissapoint.

The main story is that a group of explorers, led by a scientist George Challenger, have travelled to the Amazon in search of a lost world. But while they finally reach the plateau that the world lives on they are attacked by cannibals and only five expolers:
The visionary, George Challenger, the mysterious yet beautiful Margarite Crew, the hunter, John Roxton, the reporter, Ned Malone, and the scientist, Arthur Summerlie manage to survive.

As they land the hot air ballon they escaped in they meet the impossibly beautiful Veronica, my second biggest crush ever! She knows english because her father and mother came to the same plateau years ago, but disappeared when she was 11. The rest of the seasons continue that story. She then brings them to her incredibly awesome tree house, and from there, the rest of the series takes place.

The dinosaurs are actully great to look at, although sometimes when the T-Rex is running I have to hold back a laugh. But there are more than just dinosaurs on this plateau. There must be at least 100 tribes that share the land, the most common one you hear about in the first season is a tribe called the Zenga. There is also the feirce looking tribe of Ape Men, which really show us what they are made of in the first two episodes. Each episode has new bad guys in them, and Tribune, a reptillian overlord in one of the episodes, will appear more than once as the seasons continue.

There are 20 plus shows on the first season and my favorite would have to be when the explorers try to escape the T-Rex and fall into an underground whirlpool. After getting sucked up they surface to find themselves in another land where reptillian human shaped creatures have established a sort of Roman empire and have humans for slaves. Being the typical male that I am I loved it when veronica was shown in that blue dress, Yeeeah!

Anyway, this is still a great DVD collection that has twenty two great episodes in it. You have to get this, it is a lot better than what some other people are saying. You will instantly become a fan of great action and acting, which you rarely see nowadays.
