Thought You'd Want to See What's on the Box

Wow a great movie, absolutely unknown to most of us. The Studio is dedicated to family films that strengthen traditional family values through entertainment. This tape even has a Parent's Guide printed on the back with topics for family discussion. Just superlative all around!

Now for the story: Getting beyond our own needs," a close friend tells Charles Dickens, "takes thought and effort and, above all, an unselfish heart." The timely advice is given as the author struggles to write - only for profit. Unfortunately, his desire for financial security only fuels his own fears and self-pity. When his soul-searching leads him into peril, he receives unexpected help from a young girl. Hauntingly, her life mirrors his own childhood. Though the strange events she reveals to Dickens, she reawakens in him a desire to refocus his priorities. But he runs into a wall built upon his own painful memories of a childhood marred by debtors prison. He wants desperately to solve the plight of child labor but doesn't know how. Unless he can discover the healing power of a simple act of charity, his dream of truly making a difference is as dead as a doornail.

BUY IT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All these negative reviews seem to miss the point of this movie. When I heard the title, I knew going in, that this movie could not be taken seriously. Shame on those who did. This movie succeeded on the only thing that mattered. It was funny from beginning to end. As a bonus, it had plenty of View Askew inside jokes and even Starring Actors referring to the stupidity of this movie while giving the camera a sideways glance. Yes, Kevin Smith even wrote in scenes which blatently made fun of the fact that this movie had a silly simple plot and very little point, other than to make you laugh. Which, apparently, was lost on these "Kevin Smith" connoiseurs. Buy or rent it, expect nothing and be entertained. Duh!

One of the most innovative animated features...ever

I was forced to watch this horrible movie in my art class. I felt like I was in that class for 60 years while this movie was playing. I don't understand how anybody, who is not high on drugs, could possibly like this movie. Pokemon has far more intelligence. The characters look like they've been drawn by six year olds, the story seems like it was written by a two year old, and the music is the same old abstract garbage that the Beatles are known for. I don't think they were the great legends people portray them to be. Their music is a result of what music sounds like when you're so high that you can't tell what in the world you're doing. Their popularity is the result of the bubble gum teenagers, in the past, who would love absolutely anything you throw at them. At least in the future, when people look back on Backstreet Boys, they will look back on people who actually had halfway decent voices.

The best movie ever that was made baby!

This film has it all: action, suspense, romance. Knowing that this film was sadly to be Brandon Lee's last makes it come across on a more personal level than it may otherwise have done. Lee is superb in every department, carrying each trait of his character wonderfully. The action and violence are given balance and justification by the genuinely thought-provoking plot. Some of the support performances seem a little wooden at times but these are forgivable as, frankly, Lee carries the film from start to finish- and what a job he does of it. Awesome.

To Kill a Mockingbird (Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
The best movie that Hollywood has ever made.....

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is, in my opinion, absolutely the finest film ever made. Filmed in timeless black and white and perfectly cast, this motion picture is a work of art. As for the "politically correct" reviewer who panned the film because of perceived "black stereotyping", and suggested it not be shown to anyone under 21 years of age, all I can say is sad.....very sad. "To Kill a Mockingbird" should be required viewing for every child in public school in America, it might actually help to counter the influences of Darwinism and Secular Humanism that are destroying American culture and civility.

The performance of Robert Duvall as "Boo" Radley is, alone, worth the price of admission, but John Megna, as young "Dill" Harris, steals the film as far as I'm concerned. Megna, the brother of actress Connie Stevens, passed away in 1995 but will always be remembered for his role as "Dill".

Everyone should, in my opinion, own a copy of "To Kill a Mockingbird". And if you watch it.....and aren't moved by it.....well, maybe you should have a close family member call the undertaker.

The end is worth the wait

If you like the South, you'll love the familial twists and turns that this movie includes. Intimate cousins. Feuding sisters - one crazy, the other not far behind. A beautiful story of friendship between two handsome men that becomes something more. If you want raw sex, this movie isn't for you. If you want passion and love and sensuality, you'll love this move as much as we did. A must see!!

A WWII film for the ages

I am a child of the 70's, grew up in the 80's, and matured in the 90's (supposedly). I'll admit that there are surely some war flick gems I have never laid eyes on. To be honest, almost all of the war movies I have seen were made after the time of my birth ('72). I have seen Apocolypse Now, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Born on the 4th of July, Hamburger Hill, The Thin Red Line, etc, etc. Each of those I found to be good, if not great movies. But for my dollar, Saving Private Ryan captures the most of what I think a war flick should. The story itself is not overly complex: the mission to save one man. Of course, there is much more to it than that, but that is the basics. I have to admit that the two battle scenes at the beginning and at the end are what set this movie apart from the others. Normally I am into the more poignant and artistic war films (Born on the 4th, The Thin Red Line), but my values have changed. Simply put, no other war movie has left me with a feeling of loss and pain. The time Spielberg and crew spent on making the battle scenes look and feel as realistic as possible is not to be overlooked. The camerawork was perfect. The way the marines worked the way up too the beach on the shaky camerawork was brilliant. The muted coloration helped inspire the gloom and terror of these battle scenes. Yes, I'll admit the characters weren't developed as much as they could have been, and yes, this was a United States flagwaving, patriotic movie to the core. But I don't see how people from all over the world can't find this movie absolutely moving. And I would love to see a movie made about WWII as told by another contributing army. But until that day comes, people should stop complaining about how flipping typically American this is and enjoy it for what it is. If you don't leave this movie without feeling a profound statement was made for not just the U.S. but the world then maybe you might need to be a bit more open-minded.
