The greatest epic film

As Stephen Spielberg says in his interview on this disc, they will never make another movie like it. It took two years to film, involved thousands of extras and even the construction of an entire city. This is the version to own, even though the movie is split across two discs compared to the new one-disc edition. The reason it was split it to allow for the highest sound and picture quality available.
The movie was restored by legendary film preservationist Richard Harris and this is probably as good a transfer as can be done for the DVD .... It comes with a documentary and the aforementioned Spielberg interview.
Not that those are necessary. This is the greatest epic film not just because of the sheer manpower involved in making it but also because of a subtle and magnificent script by playwright Robert Bolt, legendary performances by young Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif, and mind-blowing direction by David Lean. It ranked #5 in the AFI (American Film Institute) poll. I would rank it #1.

Good anime... well worth it!

Variable Geo is based on a fighting game, and for that reason alone I was unsure about how to aproach this video (anime based on fighting games don't have that great of a track record). The character designs in this video helped to enhance a story that sometimes pushed the bounderies of believability, providing the characters with an extreme amount of personality. The fights between characters were good, but be advised that there is a lot of skin shown (gratuitious fan service). This isn't an anime you should watch for a serious plot, but for those days when you want to watch something silly. Overall, a good video game translation, and worth looking into if lighthearted action is your genre of choice.

Roswell - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
An opportunity You don't want to miss

To think it all started with Jason Behr's guest appearances on Dawson's Creek. Viewers of "The Creek" will remember him as Chris, the "rico suave" who acted in one of Dawson's movies. Apparently, "the powers that be" saw potential in Behr, thus Jason Katim's sci-fi teen drama was developed and formed around him. More recently, The Creek did the same thing for Chad Michael Murray, currently of One Tree Hill.
Immediately engaging and involving Roswell raised the bar, somewhat, for teen dramas with an incredible cast, original storylines, and a near-perfect balance of sci-fi elements and teen angst. There's no wonder why so many have so much to express about the phenomenon that is Roswell. Life was good for Roswell until it started losing support during it's 2nd season due to what TV Guide Couch Critic Matt Roush called "convoluted storylines." "Too much stuff going on," he said. Yeah, right. In any case, WB dropped Roswell (along with Buffy) from it's schedule. Luckily, UPN picked up Roswell (along with Buffy) for the show's 3rd and final season. For it's worth, Roswell went out fighting like a champ (along with my other cancelled favorite of that year, ABC's Once & Again) with one of television's better series finales. Treat yourself to, argubly, the most anticipated DVD you'll buy this year.
Wondering about Season 2? The DVD's insert says this about Roswell - Season 2:
Continue your collection....Roswell Season Two.
Return to the town where the term 'AlienEncounter' takes on a whole new meaning.
Season Two available this Summeron DVD... And nowhere else!

Bugs and Guns Woo Hoo!!!

Aliens is my favorite of the Alien movies. This movie has everything that Alien fan love: Hundreds of Xenomorphs (the aliens), The Colonial Marines (the coolest military group ever), and the Queen alien. This was an awsome film when it first came out, but the Special Edition makes it 200 times better. The added scenes add so much to the plot. It explains who brought the aliens to the colony (i'm not saying who though). The fight scene between Ripley and the Queen is the coolest fight scene ever. If you haven't seen the Special Edition yet, you should order this now. It'll make you want to throw your old copy in the trash

The Grateful Dead Movie

I have come to the music of the Grateful Dead late I'm afraid, but better late than never I guess. This DVD is great, sounded spectacular on my surround system, turned up very very loud! I'm just starting to get into The Dead, and there is so much material out there that it is kind of daunting knowing just what to pick up! Can someone offer suggestions? Anyway, I loved this DVD and will be playing it quite alot, I'm sure.

They do magic, they save the world- and they can ACT!

WOW! Harry potter's third try at being a movie- and this time they succeded! Everyone does GREAT in this film, especially the three leading actors who have previously struggled with becoming their characters believably. Alfonso did a really well job directing it, taking to places that Chris Columbus didn't seem to want to take the first two. It's alot better filmed, with alot better effects, and altogether it's alot more enjoyable to watch (despite it's length). Of course in movies one can't include everything, so there are somethings that are sadly left out, but everything that you need to know is there, so that's better than having all the fun moments and none of the pot. Oh my, I meant "plot".
This film is great for all ages, though the younger ones might be a bit scaresome moments. Luckily in todays's society most children are desensitized to things like scary creatures and should be just fine. This one will be enjoyable for ages!

Swimming with Sharks - movie DVD cover picture
You Gotta Love This Town!

Arguably Kevin Spacey's finest hour in which he plays a powerful, soulless, studio executive who daily grinds his new, innocent, personal assistant into dust beneath his bootheel. "Sharks" simultaneously illustrates the most brutal, as well as blackest comical sides, of the depths to which Hollywood hopefuls will sink in order to make it. It's still unclear, even after dozens of viewings, as to whether the ending is "happy" or not. You decide.
