The best anime series of all time complete!

From every anime otaku to the new fans, no one has not heard of one of the greatest series' of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion. The entire series spans twenty-six episodes, included in the box set, and the two alternate ending movies, due this summer from Manga Entertainment. To anyone that is even remotely a fan of anime, this item is a must-have. And to every anime otaku's collection, owning this set is vital. Neon Genesis Evangelion is a series that will live in the mind of an anime fan forever, and I think owning the entire series in a DVD box set isn't a bad decision.

Love it!

This set includes all three Wallace And Gromit films, which have won a slew of well-deserved awards. The animation is charming, and the attention to detail is impressive. As you watch the videos again and again you keep noticing more little details you missed before--most are witty or inside jokes or references that you'll catch if you pay attention. The characters are beloved for a reason--Wallace is neurotic and obsessive in charming Brit style, and Gromit is brilliant, sarcastic, and parental. 'The Wrong Trousers' and 'A Close Shave' are my favorites--these two have the best plots, the funniest twists, and the best character development (the evil penguin and bully bulldog had me rolling!). You can't help but fall in love with Wallace And Gromit, and you'll probably join the rest of us addicts begging for another installment and buying up every piece of witty merchandise you can get!
If you do end up liking these videos, you should definitely get 'Creature Comforts' by Aardman productions--it's got a great Nick Park short, and three other great pieces. Plus, Chicken Run was great, too (though it was no Wallace and Gromit!)

Evil Dead (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

It seems as though there have been "ultimate edition" of DVDs that are presented after several other previous DVD releases of a movie seem favored by the public. It seems this DVD is such a case. After the interest that dead heads showed in the previous DVDs there is now an ULTIMATE edition. The casing is awesome and a definate stand out in ANY collection. The transfer is excellent and there are some interesting "easter eggs" on this as well. This Evil Dead edition is packed with extra features and has ACTUAL PAGES FROM TEH BOOK OF THE DEAD! Well worth the extra scratch if you can come up with it!

This movie was BETTER than 5-stars.........

One of my all time favorite films, and the one that got me into LOVING Gene Hackman. And excellent adventure of an ex College basketball coach filling in the shoes of a small town high school basketball coach. With simply amazing acting from Hackman, who made this role into his own.
Based on a true story, this movie attemps to make us believe in a group of young men just trying to make something of themselves, and a coach with a last chance to succeed.
Hackman carries the movie, with help from an excellent Supporting Cast. Barbara Hershey plays the lonely teacher who finds a place in the heart of the coach. Beautifully played by both actors.
I would recommend this movie to any Hackman fans, or basketball fans. A touching film that doesn't dissapoint.

Old School Exitement

Oh, if only Carter Wong acted in movies today and thereby completely shutting down the over hyped over stlylized psuedo-hip pile out these days! Unmatched intensity and inexahaustible passion was Ka Tat (carter Wong) stlye. He truly delivers in this, the first of an unofficial trilogy ending with "The Blazing Temple", directed all by Joseph Kuo, who had an interest in James Bond films as well. The bronzemen are an invention after the gold-dipped girl in "Goldfinger". Here though, they are given life by some hard hitting action packed Shaolin kung fu. The dvd also does justice to the original film's presentation and the back story of the young exiles seeking training and eventual revenge on the conniving enemy of Manchu. There are the sub-plots that bring life to the action and round out the film well, setting up for the classic great climax. The only problem with the feature is the subtitles, that at times are unclear and poorly translated. Though it is an old kung fu flick, so, many of us have gotten used to witnessing the injustice done to the chinese cinema: awful english dubbed dialogue, terrible american editing, and skewed up subtitles (to name a few). Of course, we sit through this patiently and truly enjoy a good exiciting original action film.

Wonderful --- entertaining, educational, excellent series!!!

You've got to hand it to the British --- they may not have Hollywood's budgets or special effects, but their actors and writers are among the best in the world! The casting in this series is superb! And it gives the viewer an excellent insight into the daily lives of those in power during the early days of Imperial Rome! I recently took a college course on this subject, and this series was a GREAT HELP in my better understanding the personalities of this very important period of history! It's almost like watching a "soap opera" in that the characters draw you in, but it's based on reality, not fiction, and is therefore so much more valuable as a work of cinematic story-telling! Highly recommended!!!

A gem of a movie that stands the test of time

This is a beautifully shot, superbly acted science-fiction film. As a younger viewer, I saw this purely as a work of fiction, not a parable about communist hysteria, and I was able to enjoy it on that level. Director Don Siegel has even indicated himself that he did not intend for the movie to have a political message.

The prospect of pod people slowly taking over your friends and loved ones is a chilling one. I appreciated the fact that there were no overdone and cheap special effects in this movie. The effects are minimalistic and very realistic, which just adds to the feeling of terror. It is more chilling to keep your imagination going than to offer a cheap glimpse at some boogeyman.

I got a real feel for the life of a 1950's small town through the camera shots on this movie. I felt intimate with these characters, and the paranoia of losing everyone you love to coldhearted clones is one that anyone can identify with. This is an excelled DVD (in widescreen, no less) that is not to be missed.

FLCL (Fooly Cooly) - Vol. 2 - movie DVD cover picture

When I first saw FLCL, I knew it was pure gold. It was hilarious, strange, crazy, hard to understand, and that is a good Anime in my opinion. Of course, there ARE some serious parts, like the part where Naota Nandaba AKA Ta-kun tells Haruko Haruhara he loves her and kisses her.
Anyway, this Anime is about a boy named Naota Nandaba, and an Alien-girl named Haruko Haruhara nearly runs him over while he is hanging out with Samejima Mamimi, one of his older girl friends. This leaves a mark on his forehead, and before he knows it, Naota has robots and cat ears growing out of his head. And THEN Haruko becomes Naota's maid and his dad falls in love with her. Strange, hai? This is, it's just great. Hilarious. GOLD! 10000/10.
