The best Thriller ever!

For once i am in agreement with other reviewers... This adaptation of the book Red Dragon is a great deal closer to the mark to the work of harris then SOTL was. I liked the book alot better then SOTL and so too do I like the movie better. the acting was magnificant, the story line didnt stray to far from the book. over all a must. I own it for vhs, and AS soon as the DVD comes out I will own that too. if you like thrillers you wont be let down.

Adam Bernstein is very good. And he knows it.

The main privilege of the low-budget filmmaking is not having to carry the crashing load of responsibility to everyone for everything. And a director can go several ways from here. He/she can indulge him(her)self in the weird self-expression, giving his/her "insights" the value they do not actually have. Or - just like Mr. Bernstein did - make something uncaringly original, captivating from the first frame to the last. Yes, he uses the ex-pop icon and the male model and their relations are recognizably Psycho, he puts Jewinsh mobsters in his film, he is pop-violent and anashamedly sentimental, he can be accused of borrowing and quoting heavily from different sources.
But somehow I feel he is innocent of all the charges that can be made against him. Adam Bernstein helms his film with a steady and assured hand. In our postmodern time he just ignores the dominating trend to disassemble any work of art to see where it's components came from, where they were originally concieved for the first time - if there is such a thing as the first time.
If he feels the sitation calls for such and such words and actions - he puts them in disregarding any similarities. There is a lot of violence but it's evidently not gratuitous - and that's refreshing.
What I see in this film is an effort of a very mature director to make the movies the way he likes and can. His place on the map is not huge and overflowing but it's very definite.

Don't miss this fine Theatre to Film adaptation!

Finally! A delightful and funny film interpretation of this excellent and very humorous Musical! Tyne Daly is brilliantly funny and the casting of Jason Alexander to the role of Albert was perfect. Also delightful was Vanessa Williams. It is clear to me that the cast had a lot of fun making this movie and it shows very well in this made for TV Version. Chyna Phillips as Kim?!? Did the casting Director pull names out of a hat? Though she tried her best and her acting was good, I just could not accept her as Kim McAffee. It certainly makes up for that abhorrent film interpretation of 1963. This includes ALL of the music, dialogue and scenes from the musical script. A highly recommended movie, especially if you are planning a HS or Community Theatre production of Bye Bye Birdie.

Great for hardcore Star Trek fans!

I have to say that this film would probably only appeal to the more intense Star Trek fans. I myself think it was great! Lots of humor, great acting, awesome special effects, everything that we've come to expect in Star Trek movies. However, the story was more of a classic Star Trek story, almost like something you'd see in a tv episode, which I don't think would appeal to many fans, but again it is most definetly a great Star Trek movie.

A moral crossroad!

Polanski as images maker is unique . He is a superb film maker and in this case this notable adaptation of the Ariel Dorfman play .
First at all , the emotive nervous is powerful and only a talented director and an admirabble cast could take this material and become in an unforgettable film .
Sigorney Weaver has made the best and finest acting of his career with this haunting story .
Since her husband Gerard (Sam wilkinson) is hired to investigate a lot of political issues , he will meet to Miranda (Ben Kingsley), and for those curious coincidences she is really surprised due that voice sounds her familiar .
This initial suspect will turn in the awful true that will reveal the crudeness , the insanity and the excess of a merciless and absence of any scruple in the Government represive forces .
Watch the film coda in which we will see the couple in a Hall Concert listening the death and the maiden this glorious quartet of Franz Schubert . That cross of sights , seem to vanish , ignore and rejoin themselves in a final which states clearly several issues.
First there is in the air the attempt to sacrifice in the name of a future free of revenge , the right spirit of justice and prevailing of the truth .
But there is the sense of blame of Gerard concerned with the fact of avoiding to croos the line and not going to the last consequences of the investigation , in contrats with her who to her own way established her own behavior and punishment code out off record .
Watch that shocking and haunting film . One of the most remarkable films of that decade and an artistic triumph in itself .

Hot Japanese chick gets naked in hot DVD!

I just received the Kei Mizutani DVD Collection box set yesterday and UNDRESSED FOR SUCCESS was the first DVD I viewed. Let me tell ya: this is one HOT DVD!!! Kei is absolutely gorgeous and possesses a truly fantastic body! This DVD has it all - long, lingering erotic looks; hot and sexy flashes; simulated onanii complete with heavy breathing; and lots and lots of nudity! I just can't say enough good things about this! Yeah, it's only 40 minutes long - but it if had been any longer I think I might have caused some permanent damage! I highly recommend this DVD for anyone who enjoys watching a beautiful and sexy woman frequently get naked!

Nothing Can Compare To Buffy

This is a great buy for any die hard fan or newbie who wants to join in watching the world's greatest show. Many people cannot get past the corny title, and don't give it a chance, but Buffy is the best drama/comedy/horror show out there. The material is funny and deep at the same time. Each episode/demon metaphorically represents a problem teenagers sometimes face. From parents who try to relive their own lives through you "the witch," to being attracted to a teacher "teacher's pet," and feeling completely alone- whether you are surrounded by people orno one knows you exist, "out of mind, out of sight." i highly recommend this show to EVERYONE!

Great and heart-warming!

Marla Wilson acted brilliantly as a young girl raised single-handedly in a conventional household. Her childish talk was delicious and Richard Attenborough was superb! Its plot is pretty nice and it has just the right homey flavour for Christmas!
