The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

I was wondering how this was goanna end up like the original 1974 movie. When I saw this, it was completely different to the original, some characters were different, the story was different, and it's so much more scary. This is all about a group of five teenagers who are heading across country, they soon pick up a hitchhiker, but she is totally strange, and she shoots herself in the head inside the van. The kids are asked to take the body to an old mill so they can speak to the sheriff. But what they don't realize is that someone is out there waiting for them. Leatherface. The five teenage characters on this are different to the others from the original, but similar in some ways. The acting is briliant, I liked Jessica Biel a lot. The gore was quite high. And the film was definately scary, so many shocking scenes and suspenseful. Also, the dinner scene from the original isn't in this one, it is replaced with a big chase scene with Leatherface and Jessica Biel, and I think that works better, 'cause they go inside a slaughterhouse, and I think that works well with the movie. I haven't seen all the special features yet, but I have seen the screen tests, which are interesting to watch. I've seen the redux documentary, which lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes and it contains some cool stuff to see behind scenes. I haven't seen the rest of the features yet. So, this is a brilliant horror film, one of the best I've ever seen, much better than the original.

Touching

I definately recommend Donnie Darko for anyone who thinks a little outside the box. Its great for us teens who dont know what to think about life. It definately is NOT one of those movies you can watch and then be like "oh, it was good". It makes you think. I watched it for the first time this last Halloween and i havent been able to get it out of my head ever since. Its hypnotic in so many ways. It has a great cast, great script(i think),and a great soundtrack!!! It has alot of potential into being a great cult classic.
By the way, the docter doesnt call in regards to his girlfriend.

Great DVD

This DVD is SRV's best. It has all of his most famous songs and is the only DVD that Riveria Paradise is on. Leave My Girl alone is my favorite song. The sound and camera angles are very good. The guy about five reviews down is a complete idiot. To say that SRV isn't a great guitarist is a complete joke. I would definitaly buy this DVD.

Best new phonics movie out there

For parents trying to find a new and different way to teach letter recognition and sounds letters make, this is for you! In one or two viewings my daughter went Leaps (sorry about the pun!) and bounds ahead in her learning and understanding of the Alphabet. If your Child loves to watch TV I am sure this would be a useful tool for you. My daughter loves to sing the little song for the letters everywhere we go and that to me is important as it shows me her understanding is visable away from the TV. Great Movie Hopefully Leapfrog will continue to produce lots more of this quality. Definitly go buy it.

Different Taste, but Delicious. . . .

I generally do not watch films such as this kind, but a friend offered it to me saying it was not like a porn movie or anything, but an intriguing film that makes you want to watch it over again and again. It was truly a sensational film, though I had never heard of Gia Carangi.
It is a film in which starts Gia (Angelina Jolie) as a street/city girl who had no manners and worked for her father in a small restraunt. She was later discovered and introduced to a woman who saw a future in her. The hunch was right. Though Gia was one extroverted character, which made her unfavorable to other models, she was daring and extravagant. She was willing to try new things, and she was not afraid to what extent. She soon became quite popular.
From her first shoot, she met the makup artists, in which she got an uneasy welcome. But at that point, she met a person named Linda. Linda was to be her savior. Linda quickly learned how witty Gia was, not only when she heard Gia's quick retorts, but also when Gia asked her to pose with her in a nude protrait shoot with a photographer. From this point onwards, feelings began to develop and so did Gia's career.
In the beginning, Linda resisted to Gia's seduction and tried to convince herself that she was straight. Linda even retained a boyfriend, which infuriated Gia. Gia then started goijng back to her old ways--drugs and guys, like she did when she first was living in the city.
Anyhow, I will not tell anymore, in fear that I may spoil the whole movie, but this is a film in which I would strongly recommend. Though the genre may not be in the common mainstram, this film is metaphorical and can be related to many themes in life. It can be mixed with fantasy vs. reality, in such that Gia was living in a fantasy, but ended becuae of reality.

the classic English spy thriller,Caine at his best...

Ipcress doesn't disappoint - Caine carries off a remarkable performance as the Brit agent Palmer, rescuing his lines through inspired delivery and timing. The film's camerawork and composition are a sight to behold, provided an appreciation for frequently underlit scenes. Certainly a film with a (wry?) sense of humor - case in point: the exchange of words in the supermarket. If you won't consider purchasing Ipcress, do yourself a favor and rent it some night.

For those looking forward to the commentary (as I was) - the running commentary is subpar, perhaps the worst I've listened through yet. Neither of the gentlemen involved (Sidney Furie, Peter Hunt) can recall the plot sequences in the film very clearly and so spend quite a bit of time audibly guessing what will happen next. The track does reveal a few interesting tidbits, but it is unfortunate that most of these revelations find mention again and again.

Awesome

I must say that I waited with great anticipation for the release of this dvd. I was personally fortunate enough to see Maiden Live on the World Slavery Tour and Somewhere on Tour but missed the Di'anno era. I love Paul Di'anno's voice and this dvd brings to the forefront how great he was live. The Maiden Japan EP lets your hear how GREAT he was but this DVD lets you see him as well. You can feel that in those early shows, Ruskin and Rainbow, that somebody was gonna get there a-- kicked. The power was overwhelming. But as Di'anno says "Bruce is the best lead singer Iron Maiden ever had", on the documentary Disc 2, so you also get to see early Dickinson as well. How can you complain? you can't. So sit back crank it up and enjoy!
Up the Irons!

More Than A Sport/A Game

With maturity comes interest in more important things. Jones' friend O.B.Keeler says them in this best golf film: 1) Money will ruin sport; 2) Life consists of much more than winning championships; 3) You've did so much for other people, e.g. winning championships for your dad, etc, now what are you going to do for yourself upon retirment from competitive golf? Build Augusta National!

This well acted life of Bobby Jones is so well done by the actors. Give them all credit, they masterfully created essence of this great sportsman's life. The drama is slow developing and is not sensational, thus swimming upstream in our cultural air. That is why I enjoyed it so immensely. For this reviewer it is in the class of "Chariots of Fire."

More like this. The world needs it.
