Sweet and simple! Cute animals, nice songs, not annoying.

My daughter (who has a ton of videos) absolutely adores this video. It is her favorite and she always wants to watch it again. Interestingly enough, these productions are quite low-tech when compared to things like Blue's Clues, Barney, etc., but something about them is very endearing. The music is well-done, and the voices of the characters are cute and well-chosen. All the classic nursery rhymes are here such as "Old King Cole," "Little Boy Blue" "Hey Diddle Diddle," "Little Bo Peep," "Old Mother Hubbard," etc. If you can get past the slightly hokey animation, you'll probably enjoy this simple, sweet rendition of Mother Goose (or at least your 2-year-old will).

Blade Runner

I cant believe that you cannot find the original theatrical version on DVD. As for the Directors cut of this movie, you seemed to have taken an awesome movie and turned it into a movie that,of course, is still great, but not as good. I think Harrisons narrative makes the movie. BRING THE ORIGINAL BACK!

Stephen King's The Stand - movie DVD cover picture
The Stand is one of my favorites

Stephen King's book THE STAND was wonderfully adapted to film in the made for tv miniseries. I bought the DVD as soon as it became available - it is one of my favorite films. I loved the performance of Jamey Sheridan as Flagg (he has such an evil handsome grin) he was perfectly cast. Gary Sinise as Stu Redman and Rob Lowe as Nick Andros were also wonderful choices to fill the large shoes created by Mr. King- not everyone could have done it so well. There are more Ruby Dee, Ray Walston, Molly Ringwald (I like her performance, contrary to many people) and Laura San Giacomo (?) but you can't mention them all. (Oh- don't forget that King makes several appearances in this one- not just a brief glimpse.) The Stand is a book which is so long and detailed that there is no way it could have all been put into the film but Mr. King did an extraordinary job of compacting it into the time constrains of t.v. The nice thing about owing the DVD is that you can jump to favorite scenes or past ones you may not like so easily. As I said this is one of my favorite movies, I have watched it a several times and read the un-cut verion of the book twice and the short version once. It is worth the time and money. Tom would say M-O-O-N that spells BUY IT!

A relief in the search of good zombie movies.

This movie starts out fast and without explanation which creates a perfect setting for a zombie film. It is creatively set in a mall where the heros have all that they need to fight the undead. The movie also takes dramatic changes which assures you to be on the edge of your seat. It is probably the best zombie movie ever made.

Never mind Keanu . . .

Yes, Keanu Reeves fits in to this Shakespearean production like a tuba player in a heavy metal band, but don't let that scare you off. His leaden delivery can't weigh down a movie this light and bubbly.
Branagh has outdone himself in this tale of young men and women in love. It is set in the gorgeous Italian countryside, all warm sunshine and bright colors. The actors positively glow with happiness and health.
Branagh plays an almost self-parodying arrogant ham with just the right note of swagger and hidden insecurity. His battles of wit with Emma Thompson's Beatrice bring some of Shakespeare's cleverest writing to vivid life. Denzel Washington makes for a truly regal prince, and Michael Keaton puts in a knee-slapping cameo as the Beetlejuice-ish Dogberry.
This is one of Shakespeare's best comedies and Branagh films it excellently, moving the plot along and keeping things light. The title is apt -- the problems the characters face aren't difficult to solve -- and Branagh thankfully doesn't take any of the proceedings too seriously.
This is Shakespeare as it was intended to be. It's not actors dressed in tights histrionically shouting lines; it's funny and vibrant with a strong pulse. It's a feel-great movie and not to be missed, by Shakespeare loyalists or by anybody else.

Tremendous example of low-budget film making

Riveting drama with first class direction by Anderson and excellent performances by leads Sadie Frost and Jude Law (who incidentally are now married in real life). Wonderful noir-ish photography in the industrial wastelands of London masks the fact that the car chases are not really as high octane as they seem (the Police drive Ford Sierras for goodness sake). Dated now, particularly by its thumping soundtrack but still a film which proves beyond doubt that high budgets are not necessary for good movies. Don't miss the opening sequence, Pertwee and Bean's sinister villains and the violent ending. A film that will have you thinking about right and wrong and offers some real insight into youths who sincerely believe that theft is property. Not for the squeamish.

Better than anticipated, but subtle.

Subtly effective fantasy drama - you never see the dancing caterpillar in the box, but the movie is about the people and how they react to the simple, almost insignificant miracle, and the relationship between the sneaky showman (unusually cynical role for Grant) and the boy who owns the caterpillar. Their relationship is wonderful except for one thing: Grant is trying to steal the boy's pet and sell it to Walt Disney, though he promised he wouldn't. For a mild, subtle story, the surprise ending is surprisingly satisfying. The DVD quality is fine.
