Still Funny

Wonderful movie that is funny and poingant at the same time. One way I gauge how much I enjoy a movie is how fast the time passes. This one was over way to early for me. The obvious comparison is Spinal Tap. Still Crazy is a kinder, gentler version of that great film, with more believable and sympathetic characters. And, like Spinal Tap, bears repeated viewings.

groovy baby

This movie is too funny for words. It was a depends movie, as Rosie would say, and it really is. Mike Myers has real talent. The fact that he can make just about anybody laugh is good enough for me. I own this video and watch it every time that I need comic relief. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who isn't a stick in the mud.

TOON TIME TOO!

If you loved the first Looney Tunes DVD set as much as I did, you'll flip over this one. The early (pre-Chuck Jones) Bugs Bunny is well-represented- a little less slick and a little more fiery. Road Runner and Tweety-Sylvester fans will find a big batch of each- the formula may be the same but Chuck and Friz knew how to make the chases different and clever. For me, though, the highlights are the Bob Clampett cartoons like "Book Revue", "Baby Bottleneck" and "Great Piggy Bank Robbery"- pure animated insanity all (check out Daffy as Duck Twacy and Danny Kaye!). This set also includes the fabulous Disc 4, which will become legendary. What a great batch of Warner zaniness: the incomparable "One Froggy Evening", the one and only "What's Opera Doc?" in all its hot-pink and purple glory, the library to end all libraries in "Book Revue" and "Have You Got Any Castles", the inspired Tex Avery caricature fest "Hollywood Steps Out"...even the animation-meets-live-action "You Ought to Be in Pictures", which inspired "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" 50 years later. The color quality, given the age of these (almost 70 in spots), is great. I liked the extra commentaries on the Clampett entries- he was truly a gag-a-second genius. There's also a golden-anniversary compilation show and two interesting shorts: Jones' ultra-earnest public health lesson "So Much for So Little" (an Oscar winner), which harks back to those not-so-thrilling classroom films you sat through in sixth grade, and a curious Freleng creation with live animals called "Orange Blossoms for Violet" (she's a monkey). Oh, yes- did I mention Chuck's old-school college-humor "Dover Boys"? Or the great Stan Freberg-performed piggy-wiggy-boogie "Three Little Bops"? How about Sylvester singing everything from opera to Spike Jones in "Back Alley Oproar"? I'm telling you, I can't get enough of this. Introduce your kids and grandkids to the best of American animation...watch it as a big kid, like me, who still loves a good laugh...or become an animation scholar (Clampett's Bugs v. Chuck's Bugs v. Avery's Bugs). Looney Tunes- they're the grub-ba-ba-da-that's all folks!

An Endearing Movie

This movie is not going to be a landmark picture, but it is one of the most charming movies I have ever seen, and it has a more tongue in cheek style than the David Niven and Marlon Brando version that preceded it. It is a joy to watch, and one that you will smile all the way through.
Don't waste time, buy it and enjoy life a little more!

This is a book to movie done right!

Tolkien would be very pleased were he around to see his masterpiece come to life on the big screen. I don't know who the director, Peter Jackson, is but he has done an incredible job of capturing the look and feel of the book. So much attention to detail from lighting to special effects to sound and music. The action sequences are refreshingly original and well interspersed throughout the movie. Casting was surprisingly well done. There was not one person that did not fit their role. This is a book to movie done right.

Great DVD

This is a great concert DVD. The picture quality and sound are fantastic. Not every song from the CD is on the DVD but there are plenty of Ryche classics to make it well worth picking up. If your a Ryche fan I would recommend this DVD for your collection.

The Ultimate Classic Collection

I love all the Indiana Jones Trilogy it is what movies is all about. From the classic scene in Raiders of The Lost Ark with the boulder to the very dark Temple Of Doom and who could not forget in the Last Crusade the classic scene where he is on the bridge to when he picks up that rusty old cup. I'm only 22 years old so I would of just been born when the first one came out. I am planning to become a director one day and when I do I will definatley do a movie like this. So Buy this collection it's worth it. Next Classic collection Star Wars Trilogy.

A Classic

I hate to play the race card, but I have to say that one of the best things about this movie is that it is among the first, first, first great black comedies that worked without being, excuse me, ghetto fabulous. I watched this movie because it was rip-roaring funny, subtley race-conscious, and because the sistahs were Phhhine, slammin, and the brothers were educated, cultured, and well-spoken (except for the Martin Lawrence character, but he was great too). In other words, it felt great watching buppies (black yuppies) on film, with not a finacial care in the world. They looked great in corporate America making artistic decisions, swinging business deals, deciding to quit their jobs on principle and FIND themselves--wow. The vicarious pleasure was almost too much for me. Now add all that to some of the funniest comedic material ever and you have a classic. Every scene is a gem. This movie is even better than Coming to America.

A MUST OWN

Highlander was a series that although very well done, could not hold a decent time slot. When it first aired I was only 8 years old and when I fianlly grew up enough to want to watch it, it had bounced from to many stations to keep track. Well now it is here on DVD and it ruely kicks ....
The series focused on Duncan McKloud (which for those who don't know anything about highlander is not to be mistaken by CHristopher LAmbert from the Films) who runs an antique shop while dueling immortals whenever they arrive. Duncan McKloud is played by Adrian Paul which to my knowledge the only other thing I have seen him in is the movie "THe BReed". Along with his wife Tesa and friend Richie they live their life in the antiwue store while mystical adventures, as well as real life ones stumble in their way.
SO basically if you are in to swordplay, early 90's rock and roll, and good story, than this is the series to check into.

There are no duplications!

There's some confusion sparked by the reviews below. Simply put: there are no duplications of cartoons. Golden Collection Volume One and Volume Two have totally different cartoon listings. "What's Opera, Doc?" for instance, is NOT on Volume One.
