The Pianist (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

Wow, initially, a friend recommended me to watch this movie after he received it for christmas. I was almost laughing at him because of the commercials and I thought it was horrible at the time. After constant nagging by him, I decided to give it a try and I feel in love with it. This movie is incredible and almost, almost brought me to tears. If you know me, I'm one that you can't get to start crying.

The true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman who, in the 1930s, was known as the most accomplished piano player in all of Poland, if not Europe. At the outbreak of the Second World War, however, Szpilman becomes subject to the anti-Jewish laws imposed by the conquering Germans. By the start of the 1940s, Szpilman has seen his world go from piano concert halls to the Jewish Ghetto of Warsaw and then must suffer the tragedy of his family deported to a death camp, while Szpilman is conscripted into a forced German Labor Compound. At last deciding to escape, Szpilman goes into hiding as a Jewish refugee where he is witness to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Warsaw City Revolt in 1945.

I guarantee you will absolutely LOVE this movie.

Thank You and enjoy

ok this movie is hillarious! an awsome sex romp that doesn't take itself seriously for a second. i'm not even gonna get into the story line or whatever because it is not what makes the movie at all. if you like oddball humor and sleaze then do yuorself a favor and get this double feature. plus it's limited to 20 thousand copies. i haven't watched the Naughty Stewardesses yet but as soon as my sides arn't in stiches from cracking up at the first one then i will deffinately check it out. though oddly enuff the dvd presents Blazing as the first when actually Nughty was. anyway, get this one and if you smoke....Blaze away! it's a riot.

An awesome anime that begins comic, and ends tragic.

The $$60,000,000,000 man.
The humanoid typhoon.
Vash The Stampede.
An anime that begins very lighthearted and comic. Yet as it continues shows itself to be unique for its main characters. Vash is not some self rightous gunman, cold and unyielding. He has more in common with Shinji Akari (Neon Genesis) then with Spike Spiegal (Cowboy Bebop). Taught from childhood that noone has the right too take the life of another, vash has tried too honor his surrogate mothers words. Fearing too kill and Feeling remorse when even his enemies die. Vash's comic goofiness, gluttonous love for doughnuts, and exuberant flirtation for a pretty face (even if that woman so happens too be pointing a gun at him at the time) is merely a mask for his tortured soul within. An alien, with great powers, long life, and intellegence; he and his twin brother knives have always disagreed on a simple matter since children. over the years, thier differances have engulffed a world, and brought many innocents into thier feud.
A striking anime, very different from many that has come before it. Vash's melancholy and remorse about people dying, is deep and heartfelt. And the characters around him help too make this story, a worth while one. with adequette animation by todays standards. Music that is also, merely adequette. This is not macross Zero or X. the production values are not state of the art by todays standards. But the story, is timeless, and moving.

I have watched this movie every year since I was a kid. It has all the elements of a great movie. This one, noone can duplicate. It will make you mad, sad, cry, and smile. 20 minutes into the movie, and you will be hooked. A movie you can sit with your kids or friends and relate too. 1 to 10, I give it a 9.9.

Fantastic holiday DVD for children

Even though my husband and I generally regard Caillou as overly whiney and annoying, not to mention his peculiar baldness, his holiday movie is wonderful. Through the use of an Advent calendar Caillou learns about the interesting Christmas rituals different cultures embrace around the world. Additionally he learns about Hannukah, tree trimming, giving, Santa - the works. The singing and feel of the movie are engaging and definitely put one in the Christmas spirit. Our four year old daughter loves this movie and I enjoy it too.

something for us...

I confess; I am a wrestler and that probably biases me slightly. No matter, I love this movie. My wrestling coach showed our team this movie my sophomore year in high school, and I have loved it ever since. Truly, before I seen this movie I thought no one understood how we felt--the feeling of sacrificing so much and receiving so little in return. The blood, sweat, and tears (literally) that came along with such a demanding sport, along with the joy, comradery and lasting friendships developed through sweat all come together in this movie. There are dozens of football, basketball, and baseball movies, but now we have something to call our own. Something we can watch that reminds us of how we used to be. If you have ever worked hard or sacrificed for anything in your life, you should not only understand this movie, but should love it.

Jason X - movie DVD cover picture
slasher films in the new milenium......Jason X

Next year the friday the 13th franchise will turn 22. For series of films that is universally panned by critics, they proved quite profitable. we the fans love this stuff, low brow or high art. We all have varying tastes. I dig the angle New Line cinema has thrown at the franchise in order to keep Jason a viable commodity. Jason X looks fresh, fun and boasts the highest bodycount so far. The film pokes fun at the conventions of the horror genre. Jason X was shot digitally so it will look great on DVD. Slasher films, horror films are our modern twist on tall tales and mythology. Plus gallons of blood being spilled in zero gravity is probably pretty cool too. The only problem is where do we go with jason fom here? Well,it's a double edged machete. Now that Jason has been brought to outer space, following installments will have to stay within some sci-fi continuity. In other words: give us what we really want...Jason versus aliens, cyborgs and Freddy Krueger......... Justice X

Lone Wolf and Cub - Baby Cart in Peril - movie DVD cover picture

This film may be my favorite of the whole series. This film features such an accurate representation of issue #23 of LW&C: performers, and the story itself is very moving. O-Yuki is a very sympathetic character that whose quest for revenge is even more admirable than Itto's as she was not only disgraced but violated as a woman. (...) The ending battle scene is also magnificent. (...) While the battle is not as visceral as the one in the previous entry or part 6, this film's battle is still quite magnificent. As I said before, this is my favorite film in the whole series though all of them feature spectacular amounts of bloodshed.
