Smashing: Propels us to live with full abandon!

It's in a class by itself! As a 28 year old ethnic female, I have yet to find another that reaches into my soul and affirms the innately human need to live...Simply live! The message is clear, the love is genuine, and the humor is dark. Intelligent matching of script, acting, and music (all performed by the former Cat Stevens) make this film my eternal favorite.

different

I've heard a lot of women were bothered or turned off by this movie. I'm a woman and I was intrigued by it, not bothered. I do agree however that women tend to be very put off by viewing film with naked women, especially highly erotic scenes. While it would have been nice to see some naked men, in reality we really do look better without clothes. sorry guys.
I do get that it's very much visual poetry and there is a sense of wondering what is real and what isn't throughout most of the movie. It's interesting that not only do you question if the entire movie is a dream, but within that even there is the question of...was it a charade, did the woman die of natural causes. It seems impossible, but it seems even more impossible that a bunch of masked rich people into kinky sex would kill someone for finding out about it. I mean really. who cares?
If a bunch of doctors and lawyers want to wear masks and black capes and screw a bunch of naked masked women in every way imaginable, who the hell really cares? Why kill or threaten anyone over it. It's not like he would ever know who all was there as they were all masked.
While obviously anything poetic is metaphorical, I tend to think in terms of story, and this happens and then what? So on some level the story itself is frustrating because there are too many questions. This is definitely a movie you need to see several times before you make any final decisions on what anything means.

GTA Bi$#h, 10 Points..

Resident Evil - Apocalypse is the best video game to movie I have ever seen since the original Mortal Kombat. If your a horror film nutt then you'll enjoy this movie (I sure did). The acting is on point with the special effects. There are plenty of video game creatures in this one, zombies dont run in this film (thanx god), if you seen House of the Dead (stupid, stupid film) then you no what Im talkin about. Paul Anderson is also doing a 3rd film called Resident Evil - Afterlife, which will probably be the last film in the series.. check out this movie because RE RULES...

A FRESH VIEW

Trainspotting is one of the most exhilarating movies I have seen in a long time. I immediately went and bought the book by Irvine Welsh. The novel was equally as amazing. The plot and characters become a bit muddled from the novel, but that was necessary considering the novel is really a collection of short stories. Ewan McGregor is generally a dorky actor, but in Trainspotting one can separate the actor from the character. I fell in love with Renton, the narrator of the film, and plan to make this movie my permanent favorite.

Annie Hall - movie DVD cover picture
Hilarious and Sweet

Remember when Woody Allen made good films? Well, you can't find a better example of his cinematic genius than in Annie Hall. The movie is full of biting satire and Allen's trademark witicisms. Nothing is sacred, relationships, religions, minorities, drugs, actors, singers, Hollywood, New York, books, and the plastic 70's are ripped apart by the endearing comedic razor in Allen's nervous mind. Allen uses some clever film techniques to move the movie beyond the conventional comedic-love story and into the realm of the classic. Along with Allen, Diane Keaton delivers a great performance. The short minute that Christopher Walken graces the screen is very enjoyable, to say the least. In the middle of the comedy, Allen manages to create a very believable and sweet romance, between him and Keaton.
Allen's best movie, in my humble opinion.

I'm Cherokee Jack!

This steaming pile of celluloid proves that, no matter how small the budget or creativity, a force of six guys just can't conquer Cuba - not even when led by renaissance man Coleman Francis. This has always been one of my favorite MST3K experiments, despite a couple of weak host segments and dreary, slow-moving plot. Just goes to show just how great the Brains were at writing those awesomely funny riffs under duress. And remember, "they don't call John Carradine 'the voice' for nothing!"

Great. I Hate the Lack of Extras.

I've viewed this classic over and over, and it continues to amaze me that Ethan Hunt never kill one person in this version, nor did he ever fire a gun. Excellent scenery in the always BEAUTIFUL Europe. Excellent story, excellent excitement, excellent entertainment. Enjoy!

Plan 9 from Outer Space - movie DVD cover picture
Out of this world!

"Plan 9 From Outer Space" has been dubbed the worst film ever made. I can't disagree with that. Here are just a few of the things that qualifies it for that title.
- When the police drives from the town to the cemetary time somehow switches from night to day back to night.
- The Swedish accent of wrestler Tor Johnson, playing a police officer / walking corpse.
- The six feet tall, blonde chiropractor that replaced deceased Bela Lugosi.
- The plates-glued-together UFO's with strings completely visible.
- The cardboard tombstones that wiggle.
- The cemetery ground, obviously a piece of fabric covered with leaves.
- The plot, or rather lack thereof.
- The dialogue, hilariosly funny only because it's meant to be serious.
- The actors. Nuff said.
Still, it's also one of the best films ever made. Ed Wood Jr. was a filmmaker with a passion. He wanted to make films, so he made films. You can't help but respect that. That's why this movie deserves five stars, and "Deathstalker III: Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell" deserves none.
