Simply Fantastic

I was too young to see this in theaters but I was 5 when it was released on show time. My parents recorded it for me and i broke the vhs tape from watching it so much. My dad had to open the VHS and splice the tape back together.

Anyway, this is a great fantasy movie, for children and adults a like. I love the characters, the story, and the look of this movie. It was originally intended for kids so of course there are those "oh how corny" moments. But other then those, its fantastic.

Any True fan or "True" fan whould get the 3 giftsets

First of all let me say that I am a fan of Lord of the Rings, however I am not a nerd or a typical Lord of the Rings fans who kind of turn me off of the movie. I do not tell others how to like the series or how much to or what to like and I don't like those who do. I also think such reviews should be removed as they are reviewing the customers who paid good money and have a right to thier opinions. This review has as much right to be here as the other "knocking fellow fan" reviews see below. Second. If you were a true fan you would know that the three giftsets are available here at Amazon for a bit of extra money, and that you have no place knocking anyone. This set here is just the extended trilogy combined into one box. You are better off getting the separate movies, (extended or otherwise) or the Giftset for the extra goodies. Me, I'm going for the Minas Tirith tower and all the other junk. I'm a rich--- like you other know-it-alls, but I don't tell others how to think.

I mean the movie AND the lead actress. The film is as good as the book and Julia Ormond is sensational.

Is It True that Windex Can Heal Any Cut?

Since this movie looked so good in the coming attractions, off I went to see it asap. VERY funny! It's a sort of "Moonstruck" about Greek-Americans--folk ways and family relationships exhibited for all to see.
Toula has always been self-concious about her Greek heritage, but can't seem to find a way out. She lives at home and works in the family restaurant, Dancing Zorba. Both her aunt (Angela Martin) and her mother (Lanie Kazan)are flamboyant women making vats of food. Michael Constantine is a stand-out as the father who believes that any cut can be treated with Windex (I thought it was very funny that no matter where you looked in the house, there was a bottle of Windex lurking somewhere). And then, out of the blue, into Toula's life comes Ian Miller, a sort of lite Kevin Sorbo. In time, she bucks her father's resistance and takes a computer class at a nearby college, and before you know it, in go the contact lenses and on come the lots more attractive wardrobe, so that the next time she sees that Ian guy, she's prepared. From there, you can figure out what going to happen: after all, it IS called "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", isn't it?
My only criticism about the movie would be its lack of conflict. I kept expecting Toula to have a fight with her fiance Ian, but this never happened. I mean, even Liz Taylor had a fight with her fiance in "Father of the Bride"!
But that's a relatively small quibble for such a funny movie. Go take in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and have yourself a good laugh.

Hammerheads rejoice!

I'm a huge fan of Bilko, Get Smart, MASH, Fawlty Towers. Saying that I easily put Sledge Hammer! in the Top 5 funniest TV series, British included. The dumping of the laugh track was essential and Anchor Bay did this right on all counts. Buy both seasons, even if you never saw it when it aired in 1986-87.

Better than others would have you believe

As with all sequels to blockbuster movies, people allow themselves to get caught up in the hype, and go into the film with unrealistically high expectations. To all those who have given this movie a one star rating, I feel sorry for you.I saw Revolutions on Sunday afternoon, after months of eager anticipation. I tried to go into it with as little expectations as possible, and knowing as little as possible. It paid off. I was thrilled by the conclusions that the movie delivered. It wrapped it up cleanly, while doing the typical Hollywood thing, and leaving open the possibility of another movie.Quite possibly the only movie that will top this experience will be The Return of the King.Anyhoo, as most will know, Revolutions picks up at the precise point where Reloaded finished. Neo is trapped in a sort of limbo between the real world and the Matrix, unable to escape. From there, we are taken on a roller coaster ride (admittedly less mind-blowing than Revolutions' two predecessors) through to the finale of the human's battle against the invading sentinels, and Neo's final confrontation with the numerous Agent Smiths. Through it all, the film does a great job of proving that despite the revelation that Neo is really just another part of the program that is the Matrix, he is still human and capable of experiencing all the strengths and frailties that makes us human. And, in the end, it is that which will save Zion from extermination, rather than simply being able to piece together the riddles that the Oracle gives.Revolutions is the perfect finish to the Matrix trilogy. It is not absolutely conclusive. If anyone went into the movie expecting that, then they were idiots. It does leave the door ajar for future projects. But in the grand scheme of things, I believe the Wachowski brothers could not have done a better job of wrapping things up.

About the reviews!

To the two reviewers below who are all bent out of shape over the rest of the reviews here--get a grip! Isn't it obvious that the reviews so far are about the show and how happy the fans are that it's being released on DVD? Is there anything wrong with that? Anyway, can't wait until Tuesday and glad to see that others are looking forward to this release too! Oh, the five stars are for the show, just in case anyone else can't understand that!

I can hardly wait for the sequel...

This was a surprise. I expected some lame mutt of a movie, something for toddlers. The R rating called my attention, and then there was John Travolta and Rebecca Romijn, and was in.

I found some illogical things, some stupid plot ommissions and other stuff. Then I went to the special features and listened to the comments of director Jonathan Hensleigh. I learned how much could not be filmed due to budget constrains and how the movie had to be trimmed, deleting an important sub-plot.

Well, he performed miracles with one third of the budget for an action movien and half the time to film it.

He decided not to use CGI, because it looks artificial. For once, I found somebody with whom I agree totally. Mr. Hensleigh went "old school" with this movie, to the delight of the audience and realism of the action scenes.

All the stunts were done in cold blood by skilled professionals, including Tom Jane who did most of his own. It shows. They are the real thing. Magnificent!

This movie is entertainment at its best. Wisely, Mr. Hensleigh avoided excessive gore and some unnecessary violence. He could be criticized for this, but he is honest to recognize it and voices his professional opinion.

All actors perform superbly and Ms. Laura Harring is perfect for her part. And, oh, so beautiful! Ms. Stamos shows a side of her that we did not know and was lovely and very human.

And Tom Jane should be placed up there among the best action heroes, together with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vin Diesel, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and The Rock. Tom is superb. What a devotion to the cause! And such a grueling training schedule!

All said, this movie deserves not only a sequence but three or four times the budget, several months of shooting, and free hand for Mr. Hensleigh to do as he pleases.
