Screw the bad reviews

How could you possibly give this movie a bad review? This is the best Batman of the series. There is not one major plothole in this story. Christopher Nolan has done the best job of any Batman director. Christian Bale is the best Batman ever hands down. He would kick Keaton's ass any day. This is the best comic movie to come out. It is better than both Spiderman's hands down. This movie is actually true to the Dark Knight comic it's not supposed to be very funny just dark. So don't tell me not to think when i see it i was thinking the whole time and i really loved this movie.

Homo Sapiens

I'm concise. This movie confronts our species in ways that few of our members do. Questions and confrontations abound. Frankly, either the homo sapiens who hated this movie didn't "get it," or human experience has been conditioned to be subconsciously adverse to such movies-- various institutions do a great job of this. Go ahead and watch or own this movie. Small-scale evolution and increased consciousness are not out of reach. We certainly are THE ridiculous species, the one that has advanced beyond the point of seeing itself for what it really is.

Best-Looking Bond Movie!

This has got to be the 007 movie with the greatest visual flair of the series. A fantastic Tropical setting, Brilliant set design by remarkable Ken Adam, and some stunning underwater photography make this one worth really WATCHING. Subtle touches like the lead villain's eyepatch and the SPECRTE rings helped Thunderball to become one of the most memorable, and most spoofed of the spy genre.
The movie itself is no bore either. The plot sticks fairly close to the original Ian Fleming novel, which is basically the first "steal a nuclear weapon and hold it for ransom" plot which seems to have been used in half-a-dozen 007 movies since. Only this time it's done well, with some great characters and tremendous setpieces. The distinctive villains seem straight out of a comic book, and there are no less than four beautiful 'Bond Girls.'
The action is tense, the humor is sly, and the stunts and effects are very good for the time. The music is great too.
If you're making an entrance to the Spy genre or Bond series, this is a good movie to start with. If you're already a fan, the DVD will provide you with all sorts of interesting information and extras. I highly suggest you buy this movie, and you might as well order the soundtrack and original novel while you're at it!

The best Rock band ever !

Zeppelin fans buy this now ! I have all the Zep Cd's but this DVD is truly a pinnacle. My only regret as a lifelong fan is I never saw them live. This DVD almost makes up for that in some ways. The last peformance on the DVD is Knebworth, England in 1979 and the fab 4 are truly at the peak of their prowess. Pity we had to wait 24 years. Perhaps some genius at their record label will realize that many of us would also want all the material they did not use on this DVD - give us all there is !
5 hours of great Zeppelin. For those who are not Zep fans - watch this to learn what rock music is really about. This truly ranks amongst the best rock music DVD's released to date.

Rare Hong Kong action

Infernal Affairs is a landmark series and this double feature gives us a glimpse into the evolution of Hong Kong movies that led to this point.

The first film,Triad Affairs is a gangster comedy with all the leads from Infernal Affairs.
It's interesting to see them in roles different from the characters in Infernal Affairs.

The second film,Gods,Gangsters and gamblers is a John Woo style gangster shoot `em up that is terrific.

Loads of bonus fetaures on both Andy Lau and Tony Leung including music videos, behind the scenes footage and even some short films they made during the SARS epidemic.
There's a great short film Andy Lau did for a watch company that's very cool.
This is a bit high priced but well worth it for Hong Kong action fans!

YOU'VE GOT MAIL IS A PURE DELIGHT!

I have one word for this movie: CUTE! Okay, so maybe I have a few others, like, entertaining, funny, and thoroughly engaging! Of course, how can you go wrong with the ever-popular pairing of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? This is definitely one of those "feel good" movies that's perfect to pop in when you're depressed, sick, or just have a bad case of the "blahs!" In the movie, Hanks and Ryan develop an e-mail "relationship" and find themselves getting serious about each other; always anxious to hear those three special AOL words: YOU'VE GOT MAIL! Little do they know, though, that they are business rivals; Hanks runs a giant super-store book chain that threatens to steam roll over Ryan's quaint corner book shop! Although the plot can sometimes seem a bit contrived, the clever writing, excellent acting, and timely Internet involvement, make You've Got Mail a pure delight to watch, over and over again!

"That's why we're on top of the food chain!"

Tremors 3 takes us back to Perfection, where it all began. There, Burt has a "graboid-proof" house, with cement surrounding his house underground. Jack runs a phony tour of "graboid country" with the help of his friend. But, when a graboid ate his friend, he calls the tour off. Meanwhile, Burt is at home and spots the graboid on his computer screen. He quickly alarms the town of a graboid attack. Graboids turn into "Shriekers" if they are left alone. If you leave the Shriekers alone, they will shed their skin and turn into.....a flying menace dubbed "... Blasters" (I'm not kidding) who can fly in the air. These ... Blasters can see body heat, like the other two forms. This movie stars some of the people from the first movie, including Melvin.

If you are Cuban this movie will mean the world to you. My husband and I are Cuban and this movie really moved us. These people depicted, are our people, they are the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, uncle, aunts and cousins we have left behind when our families left the island. And they want to be free too, but like everything in life, freedom comes with a price and some people don't want to pay the price no matter what the benefit. Whether you were born in Cuba or another country, everyone should see this movie and be grateful we live in the United States of America.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete - Season 1 - movie DVD cover picture
Fear not, My Little Vikings.

Contrary to other reviews posted on this page, the image quality is actually better than when it was shown on Nickelodeon. This is because the signal no longer has to bounce off of satellites to get to your local cable provider.

The reported glitch in the Day Of The Dot episode is there, but this is due to improper storage of the tapes in a salt mine in Kansas City, Missouri, where they were never to be seen again (or so they thought). This might be easily corrected by realigning the pixels, but this kind of restoration will have to wait for future pressings.

It is advised that one repeatedly press the chapter advance buttons immediately after inserting the disk to skip past the commercials and get to the main menu. The menu is simple, crude, and sluggish; perfectly fitting the style of the early Nickelodeon shows. The chapter stops are located at the beginning of each episode, rather than at each scene, requiring a little care when rewinding and fast forwarding. Ironically, though the release is called Nick Rewind, it is difficult to actually rewind the footage. One must go back to the start of the episode and fast forward to just before the point you wanted to rewind to, just like old eight track tape.

The series holds up well since not much has changed visually since the early 1990's. Children who watched the show long ago will now be able to appreciate the sly amusing references and humor that was not easily understood before. All in all, a minor miracle. A good beginning for further Nick Rewind releases.
