Murder by Numbers (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Ryan Gosling and Michael Pitt Shine

I was very intrigued to see this movie because my mom had told me about the Leopold and Loeb killings. Also I remember watching Ryan Gosling on the Mickey Mouse Club when I was younger and he was wonderful as Bosely in Remember the Titans not to mention Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actresses. The movie definetley managed to keep my attention preventing my brain from letting my legs get up and head towards the bathroom even until after the movie. There was a great amount of sexual attention between the characters Cassie (Bullock) and Richard (Gosling) that definetley added to the plot twists. Anyone who did not want to beat the snot out of Richard right up until the very end of this movie is crazy. He bullies Justin (Pitt), who Michael does an outstanding job playing, and just uses everybody in order to further himself. There is a surprising twist at the end that I for one did not see coming. A definete must see.

A Real Charmer!

I can enthusiastically recommend Lilo and Stitch to both families with kids and 'Toon fans. You've read and heard the plot elsewhere, so I would just like to address a few issues for parents taking kids to this movie. My son, ten, has always hated the "orphan" angle that is so frequent in kids' movies (and literature, for that matter.) I can sympathize: how would I feel, as a mom, if every other movie aimed at me dealt with the death of a child? But in Lilo and Stitch this was handled sensitively: the parents had died before the beginning of the movie, and while Lilo is obviously aching for her parents, there aren't many scenes that deal directly with the deaths. (She does show a photo of them to Stitch, and explains that her parents had gone for a drive in their car on a rainy night.) Also, the social worker who questions whether Lilo can stay with her sister is not presented as a villian, which you would expect. The aliens trying to retrieve Stitch are shown as bumbling, rather than sinister. And lastly, there are few "startling," jumping-out-at-you scenes. All these elements make the movie appropriate for little kids on up. And 'Toon fans: the plot is strong, the humor is off-beat, the watercolor back-drops are beautiful, and, I must confess, I got sniffly more than once. All this and a fine Elvis Presley soundtrack.

Like everyone else, I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE COSBY SHOW HAS YET TO BE RELEASED ON DVD. I would LOVE to have the series on DVD... The Cosby Show is, hands down, one of the best shows to ever grace television. It's a classic, a MUST-HAVE. Awesome, great quality show to laugh your pants off to. The show is timeless... so, uh... what's the hold up?

Dana Brown is cool guy...

Step Into Liquid is probably the best movie ever's not like anything you've ever this don't need to rent it, because you'll buy it anyway...It reminded me of my youth. I went surfing in Indonesia only because I went to the beach and a couple of locals had some boards and invited me. That was a very intense experience, because I'm catching a wave and I can feel all the big preditors out there checking me out, and I'm turning my head toward the shore and all I see is coral rock and the thundering wave ahead of me...I'm alive, and I'll never forget the experience...I was stoked! For a moment, I had entered into a beautiful lifestyle. The movie is about the dream lifestyle, and the encouragement to just do what you dream about doing with a subtle reminder to spread the good cheer.

Worth it for the Cheapness

This movie is not particularly chilling or horrifying, as it was intended. Nor is it a masterwork of any genre. However, it is enjoyable just beccause of the cheap, B-movie-ness of it all, and the delightfully idiosyncratic acting of Vincent Price. Buy it.

Andromeda - Season 1 Collection - movie DVD cover picture
This is a cross between Farscape and Star Trek Voyager.

Kevin Sorbo, straight off the "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" series, plays the charasmatic captain of the Andromeda - an intelligent, sentient spaceship that can heal itself. That's good because with a crew of 6 (7 counting the ships's humanoid form), you can't get hull repairs done easily.
Anyway, his original crew is evacuated from their super deluxe starship just before the captain is alone stuck on the edge of a black hole. He's rescued 300 years later by the crew of a salvage ship - in like the year 10,000 something. They eventually all form a ragtag group of beings, from wildly different backgrounds, trying to restart the "Commonwealth" - an alliance of over one million worlds (that broke down while the captain was in his 300 year 'sleep').
I LOVE the bigness of everything in this series. The ships are supposedly many times larger than ships in other series, close-range combat is like a 100,000,000 kilometers (or so many light seconds) and they have bombs that can explode the suns of solar systems and take out many planets at once. When they have battles, it's typical for billions to be killed and, when they face the home base of the dreaded Magog (in the ending cliffhanger), it's claimed that there are "trillions of them" waiting - to eat us.
And there's LOTS of cool space battles without so many episodes where characters are overly "flushed out" (Star Trek: DS9 - ahem). I say go ahead and keep the characters mysterious until we're just dying to know their back stories (like what's the deal with the purple girl), and give us our action straight up - at least, at first - and save the sentimental stuff for later. This show has a lovely dark flavor that I'd like to see preserved.
