Ugh!! Movie Bad MST3K Good!!

If you ever wonder why some movies ever get made, rest assured that everything has a purpose. This movie, for example, is one of the finest fodder flicks (try saying that 3 times) for MST3K. I suspect that Mike and Joel are the descendants of the writers of this movie. I can hear them now "Son, I have a terrible secret. I helped write Eegah. Avenge me, son. Avenge me!!
As with most MST3K flicks, I laughed myself silly.

Nice surprise

Didn't expect much and I was pleasantly surprised. Nice picture quailty, comical characters, good soundtrack. Had a nice funky attitude that was refreshing in a stale atmosphere of gangster movies.

Unrequited Love

I liked this movie. Any person who has ever suffered from unrequited love has to relate to the character of Nina. I thought the acting was superb too, especially Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. The more I see of Aniston, the more I realize that she is a very, very good actress. She has a great expressive face, making the viewer feel every emotion with her. She and Rudd have great chemistry, and I'd like to see them work together again. Their brief love scene was...well, WOW! Nigel Hawthorne (The Madness of King George) was also terrific. The man should be arrested for scene stealing!

my son can now count to ten and recognize numbers

This is the best educational video in the sesame street collection for teaching numbers. I'm even going to purchase it for my sister in -law who is having a baby. It has catchy tunes and upbeat music to go along with counting so little ones can't help but want to try to count along...thus teaching them to count!

Take a second look

Almost all critics hated this film (and still do), and at the time it came out people were going out to the movies less and less. That's really too bad because after all the madcap nonsense and running around that made up the majority of the movie, there's an underlying current of paranoia and fear reflecting a time when the country was just starting to flex its power on a global scale. Thankfully, that sense of dread is brought back into the movie with nearly a half hour of footage cut out in 1980. Now as you may have read at the top this was done because sitting through a 21/2 comedy was unheard of then (it would still be frowned on now), but Spielberg using the comedy classic, "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world" as his model, obviously knew what he was doing! Most of this new footage is at the beginning as its almost all character devolpment. Exactly what feels missing from the studio original! I had seen this movie over and over so many times, yet when I saw this version I finally see what the mean by "Director's cut" A huge thank you to whoever got this movie back on tape and impressively restored despite its bad reputation. It may not have been the right movie for 1980, but definitely check this version out and see what a difference it makes.

Lilo & Stitch - movie DVD cover picture
Spectacular family film -- the one you've been waiting for!

Trust me, parents, Lilo & Stitch is a treat. This is one to own. It is an adventure across the galaxy. It is a lighthearted tale of a fuzzy little anti-hero and moral lessons learned. It is a spectacular watercolor. It is a celebration of the beautiful Hawaiin islands and their culture. It is the best animated Disney summer blockbuster since the Lion King.
Stitch is Experiment 626, an alien designed to wreak destruction and chaos. He is a little too good at havoc ? so good that the Council has decided that he is too dangerous for their society. Before they can exile him on an asteroid, he escapes his makers and takes refuge on Earth (which is a wildlife reserve where his pursuers must capture him without harming the locals or making a scene). There he takes up with Lilo, a cute little Hawaiian girl with behavioral problems of her own. Pretty soon they become an adorable pair of holy terrors around town while bounty hunters lie in wait for an opportunity to reclaim Stitch.
At first I was skeptical that Lilo & Stitch could be any good after a string of box-office bombs from Disney in the last 6 years. Well, whatever creative slump they were in, the writers and creative forces have redeemed themselves at last. Returning to a softer visual style with vivid watercolors and rounded designs seems to have worked well with the peppy little story here. Stitch himself is just too cute, despite naughty hijinks aplenty. And even though there is a sentimental steak running through the film a mile wide, I never once found myself wishing for that bucket.
The DVD version has some fun bonus material, including deleted scenes which have some delightful raw sketches in areas, as though a ghostly afterimage was infused with life and action. Don?t miss the trailers (the Aladdin version is a hoot). There is an educational bit about Hawaii and Hula dancing included, and we are treated to a behind-the-scenes making of the film through all stages. Finally, a DVD rom game is waiting. Don?t be afraid to buy this DVD, it is sure to return your money?s worth in entertainment.

A GREAT LOVE STORY BROUGHT ABOUT BY A VOLCANO

Excellent love stories are hard to find on film.
This is one of the excellent ones.
By-passing any criticism this one of the top love stories with the back-drop of the action of the volcano.
Excellent acting by all even the children - and that dog.
Again, one of the few men that can portray emotion with out have to act it out - gentleness, tenderness, emotion.
Action is great - whew! I could even smell the sulphur.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --- definitely a keeper!

Thoroughly Enjoyable Family Film!!!

I watched this movie for the first time tonight with my daughters and all I can say is Wow! I didn't know the movie was based on a book and so my review is given from the viewpoint of someone who has seen the film only.

Lots of laughs and plenty of action abound in this fairy tale. I enjoyed watching Cary Elwes play the villainous uncle in this film ALMOST as much as I enjoyed watching him play the handsome prince in "The Princess Bride". Anne Hathaway was beautiful and entertaining as Ella and the prince...I had to agree with my daughters - he was HOT!!!

I can't find one thing anyone would NOT like about this movie. Those who have read the book seem disappointed that it strayed from the storyline in the book so much and that's understandable. However, I'm glad that I watched the movie for myself prior to reading some of the reviews this movie recieved.

If you're still undecided as to whether to purchase this movie or not, my best advice is to rent it first. However, if you loved "The Princess Bride" and are a fan of "Shrek" - "Ella Enchanted" will leave you absolutely.......ENCHANTED. *smile
