Roger Moore's 2nd best

Roger finally came in to is own with this great movie. The only Bond flim to top ots stunts is A view to a kill. This is first Bond movie I can remember watching. If it hadn't been as good I don't think I would have ever become a fan.

Untamed Love (The True Stories Collection) - movie DVD cover picture

A woman who believes in a troubled child must go against the law in order to help her in this made-for-TV drama, inspired by a true story. Six-year-old Caitlin is a deeply disturbed child whose violent and disruptive behavior prevents her from attending school or day care with other youngsters. However, Special Education teacher Maggie Barnard senses that there is a great intelligence in Caitlin, and she believes Caitlin can be taught if someone can find out how to reach her. However, not everyone Maggie works with agrees with her assessment, and as she attempts to break through the walls of anger and abuse that surround Caitlin's mind, she must also do battle with a system that sometimes does more harm than good to kids.

This is such a well done movie and is a movie that you find yourself watching again and again, theres just something so good about it!

Why can't you get these wonderful videos in the UK?

A wondeful successor to the first series of Mapp & Lucia, dramatising the later Mapp & Lucia books. As with the first series, the cast could not be bettered and the various comic episodes of rivalry between Tilling's two grande dames are brilliantly realised. The ceremony of the dedication of the organ and the local election are particular favourites. I just don't know why we can't get these in the UK and have to invest in NTSC video players...

Four Weddings and a Funeral - movie DVD cover picture
One of my favorites

I really laughed at this one. Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell's story line is hilarious, but I was really moved by the touching portrayals of the unconventional couple and other minor characters. A extremely pleasurable film! There are some flaws: I'm not a great fan of either Kristen Scott-Thomas or Andie, but they passed muster in this one. The wry sense of humor that prevails more than makes up for a couple of silly lines. All in all, though, the story kept it going...I'm still smiling!
Grade: excellent!

Acting and Action

The perfect storm is what an action movie should be. Lots of action and suspense. And if the acting is good its a plus. There has been so many action movies where you say to yourself, "well the action was great, but the acting..." The perfect storm has both of these things. With George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg you're bound to get star quality acting and that's what you got. The other actors did a superb job also. Also the director, Wolfgang Peterson, was able to make you care for 4 different sets of people: the crew with Clooney, another boat with 2 women and an older man, the helicopter rescue team, and the people back home worrying for their loved ones. It's not often that you can make 4 sets of actors be believable and have the audience care for them but that's what Wolfgang did. Yes, the ending was depressing and done quickly but the other part of the film made up for it. The perfect storm is nearly perfect but falls on its face a bit at the end. 4 1/2 Stars but forced to give 5.

Amelie - movie DVD cover picture

See this movie!! It's superb--- From the director of" Delicatessen", "The City of Lost Children" & "Alien Resurrection"--- (so of course it has Dominque Pinon in it! ) Infused with a lush soundtrack from Yann Tiersen who also worked on "The Dreamlife of Angels" that carries you delightfully through, on the bouyant beats of the accordian. You'll need to buy it after hearing it-------
We see Amelie grow up with her odd parents, her father a doctor--touches only each month for a checkup (which makes her heart race--so now he's convinced she has a heart problem) Her mother a schoolteacher--meets her end while they were at church praying for a baby brother--a young woman from Quebec jumps of the roof--right onto her.Her father busily spends his time tending her mother's shrine in the backyard--which consists of a large garden gnome--- Amelie leaves home as soon as possible---becoming a barmaid in a bar where we meet even more strange people---Suzanne,the owner (an ex- circus star with a limp) a woman who is a crazed hypocondriac (Georgette)-- Gina whose ex Joseph (Dominque Pinon) is now a permanant patron of the bar (just to pester her it seems) he tapes conversations and keeps track of all the other male customers he thinks Gina pays to much attention to---
One day (on the death of Princess Di ) she discovers a box hidden behind a tile in her bathroom---she tracks down the little boy who hid it there--now 40+ years later--she decides if it makes him happy--she'll make that her mission, to help people... She arranges for him to find the box, and once he opens it, he's overcome-- he's found his lost childhood...
Amelie moves on to aid others---
This movie is wonderful.....

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Collection 1 - movie DVD cover picture
Quit your complaining! This is excellent!

I read the reviews of everyone here before seeing the DVD and I was a little worried that the DVD quality would be bad, but I had nothing to worry about. First of all, someone put it best when they said that we've been spoiled by Lain, I'm sure that series was made with DVD in mind. Evangelion was originally made in the 80's. Someone else said that the Laserdisc looks better, of course it does! Laserdisc isn't nearly as compressed as DVD. I don't know if they changed this in the more recent printings, but Misato still promises "fan service" not a "bargain." There are also things that were translated that weren't in the VHS I watched, IE some girls yelled "pervert," "wimp," "ape" etc in the background, I had always wondered what they said. In all, this is an excellent DVD of an excellent series! Hurry up with the next episodes!
