Review of the DVD, not the film

First things first: FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, the film, is quite good. If you can stomach its content, it IS a rather fun drug odyssey with a fair amount of underlying social commentary. Some of it becomes muddled and the reviews were horrible (Ebert gave it 1/4) but I enjoy this more than Terry Gilliam's BRAZIL, to be honest (which, ironically, Ebert also gave a negative review).
An overall wonderful experience. First, the packaging: superb. Criterion is always good at packaging their DVDs and this is one of my favorites. On the inside is an essay by a film critic and two discs. The first has the film, newly remastered under the supervision of Gilliam, along with three commentary tracks: by Gilliam, Depp and Del Toro, and Hunter S. Thompson. Wisely, they had someone interview him most of the time since he's obviously a bit of an oddball and would be prone to sitting there and saying nothing.
The second disc has some extraordinary specials, including an old BBC documentary about Thompson (whose semi-truthful novel this is based upon), TV spots, the theatrical trailer (with optional commentary by Gilliam - which I've never seen before), poster and photo galleries, Hunter Goes to Hollywood (an amusing short documentary about Thompson visiting the set of the film), a selection of somewhat bizarre letters between Depp and Thompson that date back to the pre-and-post-production of the film (Depp reads all of them to the camera for us).
Overall, one of the best DVDs I own. The film isn't a classic, per se, but it IS enjoyable. I'm sure part of my appreciation for it comes from this superb DVD, which is one of the finest I own in terms of special features.
Criterion can sometimes disappoint with single-disc DVDs priced in the $40 range but this one is fairly reasonably priced (compared to some of the others) and packed with special features to whet any die-hard fan's appetite.
A must-buy for fans, and a must-see for others - I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a blind buy for a number of reasons. It's very selective taste. You love it, or you hate it; it might be good to rent it first. But definitely rent this version, not Universal's.

Personally I consider Moore the best Bond, though others are sure to disagree. I grew up on the Moore flicks and they were always fun and campy. Here we see Moore's first efforts as he travels to exotic locales such as Haiti and downtown Harlem. The title song is fab and the action is fun. Jane Seyour is the main Bond babe, Solitaire, who has a hip connection to the Tarot. You can't lose with this! It has alligators, a wacky hillbilly sheriff and a Voodoo priest!

This show MUST be released on DVD

It simply must. I don't care what else is on television, if there is a rerun of Mad About You on, it takes priority. It is simply the finest, most delightfully subtle, witty, profound, well-crafted piece of television history I have ever experienced. The DVDs would be worth it for the opening and closing tags alone, the show was THAT funny.
And yet, the show was more than a sit com. There was more to these characters than a laugh track. Paul and Jamie, and all their friends, went through all kinds of life crises and issues - all presented credibly with honest emotional resonance. I cannot watch the sequence of episodes at the end of Season 4 where Paul and Jamie nearly break up without tears streaming down my face. Because these people are REAL.
Helen Hunt deserved her Emmys, and Paul Reiser got shafted so many times in that department. (It is unfathomable to me that Kelsey Grammer is considered more talented - go figure!)
This show is a must for any fan of 90's comedy. The show had heart and is so very quotable as to endear it to you for years to come! Please give us DVDs with lots of commentary from the cast so we can cherish this masterpiece forever!

ooh baby...

This is a classic romantic comedy. I'm old enough to have enjoyed the romantic comedies of 40 years ago when they seemed fresh and new. While You Were Sleeping can hold its own with any of the classics of the past. It not only takes great writing to make a great romantic comedy, it takes great casting. Fortunately, the stars of While You Were Sleeping fit their roles perfectly. I don't know how Bill Pullman affects the ladies, but I fell in love with Sandra Bullock within the first five minutes of the movie. Like most of the other reviewers, I have watched the movie many times and enjoyed it each time. If you have any romance in your soul, you will love this movie, too.

Outstanding Collection featuring the legend Rickson Gracie...

That is not the only reason to get the set, but while there are many on Rickson's bandwagon with his 400+ "wins," he still shows us all that he is very scary on the ground. Poor Takada never had a chance.

This set should have been called "The Kazushi Sakuraba Legacy" because it is in PRIDE's 2 - 5 that he begins his path to legendary status. He outgrapples Carlos Newton in an amazing display by both fighters and his pure, complete and total destruction of Vitor Belfort is awsome and has you laughing while you watch Vitor "escaping" to the ground.

There are many great fights here, and Sakuraba is not the only contributor to the events. Let's not forget Carlos Newton, Gary Goodridge, Shoji, Vernon White, Igor Vov, Mark Kerr and Otsaka.

Great set that is a must have. I wish the UFC would do the same thing and I also hope that pride keeps releasing these non-stop so we can eventually own them all for a resonable price.

Good thriller.

The movie trailers were misleading relative to the action/suspense. The storyline was somewhat predictable. Johnny Depp makes this movie. He is superb.

One of the most disturbing movies ever made!

Definately one of the sickest if not the sickest movie ever made. Don't get me wrong, thats not a bad thing. If your a fan of Troma movies like I am, then you pretty much know what to expect. The story is that they're on the set of a new Toxie movie, but there is a killer on the loose, taking out alot of the crew, but they keep going on like nothings happening. If your a Troma fan you'll notice alot of things in Terror Firmer that have been in some of their other movies (such as Tromeo & Juliet). Another 5 stars for Troma. Oh, by the way, you'll probably never look at pickles the same way again.

Much better than many others!!!

Tokyo SOS is a very good godzilla movie, much better than the newest godzilla movie, Godzilla Final Wars. I mean, come on! It's supposed to be a good movie for the big guy's 50th anniversary! Tokyo SOS will always be the one and only godzilla movie that stands out in the way it does--i prefer not to go into detail, I feel lazy--and so will the first godzilla movie that started it all. --This is all for my dad... :/
