Rei admits feelings for Shinji!!!

The most pivotal moment in this DVD of Eva is the moment when Rei admits her 'mind and soul is to become one with Ikari.' She was talking about Shinji, draw your own conclusions, but I personally think she finally found the love she was looking for. The other two episodes reveal more of the secrets of NERV, Asuka, and Rei herself, but also of Gendo Ikari and Ritsiko's mother. The one thing I hope is that we see is Shinji continuing to become the hero we know he can be.

Great film, great casting!

Even though this film debuted to less-than-stellar reviews, I think it is a superb film. Based on the book of the same name, the film gives the viewer a fictionalized dramatization of the 1992 Clinton Presidential campaign. However, regardless of your political leanings, you will enjoy this film, as I believe it is one of the best political movies ever made.
The really great part of the film is the casting, which seems almost perfect. John Travolta, Emma Thompson, Adrian Lester, and Maura Tierney all really shine. But my favorite actor in the film has to be Billy Bob Thornton, and his imitation of James Carville. Thornton is excellent in this film. Do yourself a favor, and pick up a copy of this film!

Great All-over Versatile Workout

This is a great workout. Way better than her first video "Shape your Body". You don't have to be really coordinated, and it keeps you interested by using moves from a lot of different sports, yoga, and martial arts. You will definitely feel and see the effects. I turn down the sound and crank up a CD because once you've done it a few times, it's easy to follow even with no sound.
WARNING: You will be sore the first few times.

true 1980s film plus The Plimsouls??!!! Thumbs Up!

If you like nostalgia and were a teen in the 80s, you may just love this movie. I distinctly remember the first time I watched this movie - me and my best friend - 15 year old girls wanting to be cool and just aching to find an equally "cool" boyfriend. So, this film was a wonderful piece of escapism for our emotional teenage girl minds!! The film is, like another reviewer said, a classic Romeo and Juliet plot. West Side Story even? But, it's Preppies versus New Wave/Punk. As a story line, perhaps it's not as slick and polished as a John Hughes film but the rawness - that's what makes this film honest! I still watch this movie and get caught up in the main characters' romance and angst - it all rings true, even today. I watch the teenagers are the screen - the way they're dressed, how they act, the music - and I remember - that's how me and my friends lived! Oh, and the music. How can you not like a movie whose soundtrack includes The Plimsouls? And not to mention, this was the first time I ever heard, Modern English sing I'll Melt with You. Not to mention, Pat Travers! The soundtrack itself is reason enough to buy this movie.

If the film is rough around the edges at times, it just adds to the nostalgia. I think this was one of Nicholas Cage's first roles and it just reminds me how far we've all come from those early 80s days.

Compared to any John Hughes movie, I would say this was one of "THE 80s" movies. Checkout "Say Anything", too, if you like 80s films.

The Best of All Holmesian Delights

Jeremy Brett is the quintessential Sherlock Holmes; no one else should ever play him. The sound and visual quality of this set are wonderful; the apartment at 22B Baker Street is just as you can still see it if you visit the address in London. All the stories are among the very best; in fact "A Scandal in Bohemia" and "The Speckled Band" ARE the best. This is series for someone who has never seen Sherlock Holmes portreyed before, or someone who has seen only Basil Rathbone or other early imposters!

Dead Poets Society - movie DVD cover picture
Peter Weir Smile

After watching "Mona Lisa smile" a couple of weeks ago, I decided to rent "Dead poets" to erase the bad impression Julia Roberts' movie left on my mind. "Dead poets" is one of the most sensitive and gripping movies in recent years.
Robin Williams is the new literature teacher in a most conservative and old-fashioned prep-school in the 50s. His unorthodox methods of teaching bring most of his students close to him, while the school board worries a bit more each day. In his classes, professor Keating makes the young boys not only understand and enjoy poetry, but also to understand how to make life worthwile, in society and as individuals (carpe diem).
I think there really is no central characters in the movie, since the exceptionally written script and subtle but eloquent directing by Peter Weir give life to many people, professor, students, fathers, deans, etc, each one with believable dialogues and motivations.
Seen now, 15 years after its original release date, somethings might seem stereotyped, even cheesy, but maybe this is just a "big picture" of a part of the american white high/middle-class society at the end of the fifties (I don't know, I wasn't there). Nonetheless, "Dead poets" will certainly always be emotive and touching, even to the least sensible person.
"Dead poets society" is one of those films that won't be forgotten easily, and in fact many years after I first watched it, I remembered certain specific lines and dialogues.

This film holds something for everyone!

Forrest Gump is just one of those films where everything falls perfectly into place, making it an instant classic. No matter what your preference in movies; humor, action, romance...Forrest Gump covers them all, splendidly. Released by Paramount Pictures in 1994 and running 142 minutes, Forrest Gump was directed by Robert Zemeckis. Zemeckis' starting line up consists of Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise, Robin Wright Penn and Sally Field. Not too shabby. The film won numerous awards, too many to mention here, but topping the list were Oscars won for Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Effects. The film follows Tom Hanks as a young boy named Forrest, with just a bit of a learning disibility, and his life growing up. Along the way, he runs into many characters, some well known, and in one form or another, slightly or greatly impacts the lives of each one. Where Forrest lacks in mental capabilities, he more than makes up for in his thoughts and actions, which are ruled by his heart. Forrest Gump combines all things nessacary to make this an all-inclusive film. From the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's to the special effects and storyline itself, there will be something for everyone. This film deserves 5 stars across the board for its power to make you laugh, cry, learn and hope!
