Regarding Commentary...

The reason no commentary is on the DVD is beacause Warner Brothers wouldn't put Matt Stone and Trey Parker's recordings on the DVD without editing them.
They Badmouth the movie "Contact", which is Warner Brothers.

Blade II (New Line Platinum Series) - movie DVD cover picture
Better Than the First

Blade was generally thought to be a great action movie. Blade II raises the bar by several notches. In the continuing (movie adapted) adventures of Marvel Comics' favorite vampire hunter, Blade (Wesley Snipes) and Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) return for an even more intense round of vampire hunting with the stakes even higher than ever.
THE STORY:
When a stronger and more dangerous breed of vampire surfaces which hunts both humans AND vampires, Blade and crew form an uneasy truce with the "Vampire Nation" and their elite band of fighters to take out the new breed. It's an action tour-de-force fight for survival through the vampire world (revealing some pretty nasty stuff) as the "posse" attempts to hunt down the new breed before they infect and destroy both races.
THE COOL STUFF:
Blade II is by far perhaps the most action packed flick to hit the theatres all year with more ultra-choreographed fights and blows per frame than any Jet Li or Jackie Chan movie. Martial arts and action lovers will definitely be satiated and impressed by this outing.
Overall, these are the movies highlights:
1. Cool choreographed fight scenes (and by there's a lot of them!!!)
2. Even cooler weapons.
3. Stronger villains and ...heroes.
WARNINGS:
One of the cool things that I believe makes Blade II much better than the first are the much stronger villains in this film who literally just SWARM everything in their path. Depending on who you are though (and you know yourself better than anyone) you may find the villains in this movie a bit much to digest. Quite frankly, they are pretty spooky looking and pretty gross as a cross between where "Nosferatu" type vampires meet the Predator. At one point in the movie an autopsy of sorts is performed which may set off some of those squeamish. The other downside for those squeamish is the look into "vampire culture" which includes some pretty nasty and gory stuff (including the feeding on humans).
Here's the things to watch out for:
1. Autopsy scene
2. Lots of violence
3. Freaky and gory vampire culture stuff
THE VERDICT:
The villains as well as the fight scenes in this movie are far superior than the ones in the first movie, making Blade II ten times better than the first. In all, this is definitely an action lover's dream. However, if you've got young kids you were thinking of taking to this one or if you yourself are on the squeamish side though, you may consider a judgment call on this one as some of the villains and gore may be a bit much for you.
Highly Recommended (for action fans)Recommended (for others)

Perfection!

G3 Live in Concert is one of the best concert DVDs I have ever seen! Not only does it have the best guitarists on the planet but they all get to jam together at the end!! Their virtuosity is a sight to behold!! I am a fan of all three guitarists and I was in heaven when I saw this DVD chronicling their incredible talents! Now don't get me wrong there are many fantastic guitarists out there but this concept of getting premiere players together is a great one!

Their styles are so different yet you can see the mutual respect that exists among them as they all play together!

If you're into guitars or guitar playing you'll be in heaven watching this DVD!!

SEE, THERE ARE ANGELS EVERYWHERE !

Enthuses Wanda, whereupon Chinaski replies "Good , it's about time those (expletive deleted) came out of hiding!"
-------------------------------------- ---------------------------
And, to paraphrase the film's most memorable line: Some people never see Barfly, what truly horrible lives they must lead!
The autobiographical ' Henry Chinaski ' is one of the most disturbing characters ever created.
Why?
Because while he is a genius who has ended up up on skid row due to his unwillingness to lift a finger on his behalf, a screwed up drunk, and the quintessential All-American loser, he does not try to make us feel sorry for him, nor outraged on his behalf. He is neither self pitying nor mean spirited and his honesty is surpassed only by his warped but magnificent sense of humor.
The reason this is disturbing is because it gives one the impression that while his sufferings are, by and large, self inflicted--Gee, perhaps there is something wrong with the world we live in and its gung-ho values.
SUCCESS NEEDS NO EXPLANATIONS AND FAILURE TOLERATES NO EXCUSES!
Go ahead and shoot yourself, Van Gogh, see if I care. You're mentally ill and it's your responsibility, anyway. I may not be able to paint but if I make 40k or more a year, and have a laser printed resume, I am obviously a better human being, a take charge kinda guy, and a true adult.
Right?---------------------------------- -------------------------------
Mickey Rourke is terrific and Fay Dunaway ain't bad either. The late great Charles Bukowsky's only screenplay is as well written as any of his novels.
Indie filmmakers, eat your hearts out! This is the real deal, told with superb dialogue and without any self indulgent whining.
An American original.

EXTRADIONARY MOVIE

OF ALL THE JOHN CANDY AND STEVE MARTIN MOVIES THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS MOVIE I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT, OF COURSE I GOT IT ON VHS, AND THEN LATER ON DVD. STILL TODAY I LOVE TO WATCH IT OFTEN.

ALL THEY GO THRU, ALL THEY ENDURE, JUST TO GET HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS (THANKSGIVING).

BUT IT WAS NICE AND STILL TODAY IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES, WHEN AT THE TIME THAT STEVE GOES HOME, HE STARTS TO REKINDLE ALL WHAT WENT THRU BETWEEN THEM AND THEN REALIZE THAT JOHN HAS BEEN ALONE FOR A LONG TIME AND GOES BACK TO RESCUE HIM AT THE TRAIN STATION.

STEVE DECIDES TO BRING JOHN TO HIS HOME, PRESENTING JOHN TO HIS FAMILY AND HELPING HIM THE WAY JOHN HELP HIM. AND THE LOOK JOHN MAKES WHEN HE LOOKS WHAT HE LOST AND MUST TREASURE....A FAMILY.

Excellent

I'm not a huge Zep fan, in fact, I still have doubts concerning the moral integrity of the band (check the songwriting credits on their first album). But as a musical ensemble, this was one amazingly talented bunch who took their music very seriously. Sure, the bombast is there and so is Page's notorious sloppiness, but the urgency and soulfulness of this band just shines through. Bonham's power and dexterity and Jones' multi-instrument virtuosity just blew me away, while Plant's ability to wail in tune impressed me. I'm only talking about te 1970 Albert Hall performance, mind you. No special effects or self-important poses or long, boring stadium crowd shots here, just rock and roll played very seriously and professionally. Buy this, you won't regret it.

STATIC Deserved Better

Six episodes of the "Twilight Zone" were recorded directly onto videotape instead of film. STATIC is one of those episodes. It was written by Charles Beaumont and directed by Buzz Kulik. It starred veteran character actor Dean Jagger as a cantankerous old man tired of the mundane quality of television. Confined to a boarding house full of idly comfortable couch potatoes, he longed for the simplistic days of his beloved radio broadcasts and for a fellow boarder whom he once loved but was never able to express his feelings for. This is one of the best episodes of the "Twilight Zone" and is a companion piece to KICK THE CAN. Because it was recorded direct to videotape it suffers from the technical shortcomings from that era and loses all its dramatic impact. I never realized how good this episode was until I watched this DVD. STATIC should have been the classic episode it was meant to be right up there with WALKING DISTANCE. I recommend this one from the heart.
FOUR O'CLOCK is a tour de force for actor Theodore Bikel as a man bent on exposing all evil at 4 o'clock. I believe that this is Rod Serling's commentary on the McCarthy era. This is a very memorable and important episode.
THE PARALLEL is a fourth season hour episode written by Rod Serling. Steve Forrest gives a very good performance as a returning astronaut whose life seems to contain very subtle changes. I read some criticism about Steve Forrest's "wooden performance." On the contrary, Steve Forrest is the professional United States Marine pilot who remains cool headed and objective while trying to analyze the dilemma he is now in. This is a good episode.

A Brilliant Comedy on the Joys and Woes of Family Life

This 1989 comedy directed by Ron Howard and written by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, is one of Steve Martin's crowning achievements. A very sensitive and well written comedy on the ups and downs of family life.

The film follows the lives of two married sisters and their families. Steve Martin and Rick Moranis play their husbands who each face a different crisis in their domestic affairs. Steve Martin is uptight about his childrens' failings and is worried about his ever-shrinking family budget. Rick Moranis plays an even more anal-rententive character who, despite his wife's pleas, doesn't want to have another child for fear that it will diminish his only daughter's phenomenal intellectual growth. Jason Robards plays the grandfather who has his own issues to resolve with his impulsive and reckless son (Tom Hulce: W.A. Mozart from 'Amadeus.')

Again, this is a very well done film which touches upon normally very dramatic or emotional subjects with clever and elegant humor. The film warms the heart and inspires the soul. A great movie to watch over and over again by the entire family.

When stressed out, I visit Elizabeth & Darcy's world...

I own this film series, and watch it over and over and over again. I never tire of the relationships, the landscapes, the personalities. It's a lovely, lovely film, and an exquisite place to go when real-life stresses are getting me down. The intelligent, valued, athletic, independent Elizabeth, and the equally bright but much more mysterious and troubled Darcy are a pair to watch. How their relationship builds over the course of the story is never boring - the ups and downs, combined with the accomanying subplot storylines, keep my interest time and time again. And the elements that backdrop the story - the costumes and scenery - are beautiful in and of themselves. Obviously, I give this film the highest rating available. Watch it when you, too, need to escape for awhile...
