Recounting The Journey

Classic Albums recounters the journey of the legendary music recordings.Classic Albums takes you a behind the scences look at one of jimi hendrix's most succesful albums. The story is told in rare archival film footage, music, and from a diary kept by a hendrix employee. Their are many great interviews from the members themself Mitch Mitchell, and Noel Redding as well as keyboard virtuoso Steve Windwood. I think the best part of the film is Eddie Kramer who engineered the electric ladyland sessions. This film is loaded with fascinating footage of Jimi Hendrix in the studio. I think from one perspective we can all appreciate how great Electric Ladyland really was.

The Thin Red Line - DTS - movie DVD cover picture

This is probabley the best war movie ever made. Its' only competition is Apocolypse Now. It has one of the best casts ever assembled including John Travolta, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, and Jim Caviezel(in one of the best breathrough performances ever). I can't understand how people could ever think that Saving Privat Ryan was a better movie since it was basically just a glorified action movie and The Thin Red Line is about as close to true art as movies get.

X2 - X-Men United (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

I went to this movie expecting 130 minutes of entertainment, and that?s what I got. X-2 is certainly better than the first movie. Now, all main characters are already introduced to those people who watched the first one, but have not a close relation to the comics.
At first, I thought X-2 would focus mainly on Wolverine, but that?s not true. Sure, in the moives Wolverine is still the most popular character, but he?s not alone. Every major mutant character has the chance to be a good time on screen. Every one of them is given dimension, I could see they were well-developed for screen. Even so, X-2 is not, as may happen in other similar situations, a show-case for every hero to automaticaly and pointlessly display what he/she is capable of. Every mutant?s actions is made acording to a good script, and Brian Singer?s competent direction is able to give credibility to the movie (of course, credibility based on the premises of such a movie).
I said the scrip is good. There are no boring fight scenes every two minutes, I could find no major sequence-continuity mistakes, no rushed conclusions, and what is best, the story doesn?t treat the viewer as an idiot. The only flaw I noticed is that the movie starts a little too fast, but that may be one more reason to keep the eyes on the screen. There are some funny moments too, mainly with Ian McKellen and his out-of-date uniform.
Speaking of Ian McKellen, pay attention to the casting: we don?t see this reunion of stars every day. McKellen, Patrick Stewart (the perfect Xavier), Brian Cox (as the common enemy of the mutants, that?s why the title ?X-Men united?), Hugh Jackman, Allan Cumming (amazing as the dark, catholic-fervorous Nightcrawler), everyone of them exeperienced, competent actors. And the women: all of them beautiful and talented: Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Famke Janssen (her best role so far), Rebecca Romijn (remember to close your mouth in the scene where she is not wearing make-up).
Not to mention the great visual effects. X-2 was an expensive movie, but one that will easily pay-off.
First class entertainment, movie grade 9.2/10

The contiuation of Love Hina!

Mutsumi Otohime is my favorite Love Hina character. Scratch that, she's my favorite anime character of all. Thus, I enjoyed episodes 5, 6, and 8 where she appeared.
Basically, the first two episodes are more or less telling one story, about Keitaro and Naru's "sad vacation" to Kyoto. they run into each other on the way, but having lost their glasses neither recognizes the other. This makes for some humorous situations. They also meet Mutsumi, who acts eerily like Keitaro and is also anemic, so she faints often. Naru's reign of terror against Keitaro continues (And on an entertaining note, Shinobu actually hits Kaolla with an appliance ^_^)
The final episode on the disc is one of my favorites. It's basically a parody of (among other things) Mothra movies and role-playing games. Mutsumi appears in this episode as two tiny copies of herself, and sings an addictive song garaunteed to be stuck in your head for a week at least (The extras contain the lyrics and a longer version of the song, though I found the full version online. It rocks!).
If you liked the first volume, you'll like this too. If you like Mutsumi, you'll love this!

Blast from the past!

I, too, watched Dynasty back in the early 80's and on! I am really thrilled to be able to watch it again. If I didn't know it was 2005, the quality of these DVD's could be streaming through my set today as they are that sharp. Another reviewer mentioned that there were no cell phones to be seen, but, indeed there were...and they were the size of a man's shoe! Check out Fallon on her horse calling Blake on his car phone when she returns home from Europe! Priceless! I'll definitely be purchasing future DVD's of Dynasty. Primetime TV is sorely missing soaps like these! Highly recommend purchasing if you love nostalgic looks into the past!

A Greek Cinderella who comes with family attached

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is a funny, charming, upbeat movie about Toula, a frumpy, plump and dutiful daughter who spends her days (and evenings) toiling away in her family's successful Greek restaurant. Facing 30, unhappy with herself, she takes charge and transforms herself into a svelte, made-over, attractive woman who soon attracts a suitor.
She is wildly happy, but her father is less than thrilled: Her WASP, white-bread boyfriend is NOT GREEK. Her father is devoted to Greek culture and to his fixed idea that all words derive from the Greek. Some of the funniest moments of the movie involve his convoluted explanations of the Greek origins of English words. In a later scene, his line about apples and oranges will leave you in stitches.
This sweet movie delivers laughs throughout, and its guaranteed happy ending will send you out smiling. Highly recommended for the whole family.

Extremely Interesting Scenario

A nuclear bomb is going to be detonated in Los Angeles. A former Counter Terrorist Unit agent is reactivated to eliminate the threat -- and the chase is on. It's puzzling, though, how the viewer reviews for this story overwhelmingly support the protagonist, who obviously understands terrorists and does not hesitate to employ lethal force against them in the pursuit of victory. Everyone backs the striving hero who is trying to save people from a horrible catastrophe, even when (perhaps especially when) he acts unilaterally and pre-emptively. This agent is not asking himself why the terrorists hate us. He is not being compassionate, tolerant, understanding or inclusive with the terrorists. He is not enlisting the United Nations to form a coalition and pass resolutions. No, he is merely hunting down the terrorists and wiping them out -- which is the only sort of action in the world that terrorists comprehend or respect. The viewers who cheer for this agent all know that is the proper way to confront terrorism... both on television, and most certainly in the real world.
