Read the book first!

...reading the book before seeing the movie is agreat help. The film leaves some things out, that if you had read thebook first, the movie would make a whole lot more sense to you. I admit, if I had seen this film without reading the book, I wouldn't have liked it. But, I was fortunante to get hooked on the book first and then see the film.

Hard Bop and Butterflies

"Cowboy Bebop - The Movie" is a rare achievement. It does the all-most impossible, capturing the spirit of the anime series and producing a top-notch feature film. All of the familiar cast of characters are here, with each of them getting their due. A pumpin' soundtrack full of bebop splendor plays its necessary role as well. Yoko Kanno has earned her paycheck on this one.
"Cowboy Bebop" tends to float between serious and silly, and while the movie has both elements, it is definitely the serious on display here. The stakes are higher, with the future of the entire human race standing in the balance. The use of the butterfly and metamorphosis makes an excellent visual metaphor for the bio-weapon. Life, death and transformation are the contemplated ideas. Vincent is a sympathetic villain, while remaining completely evil.
While "Cowboy Bebop - The Movie" is clearly intended for fans of the series, I would think that first-time viewers would still rate it highly.

Goin' to California and it has arrived....

I just got the DVD set today. I first saw a link about this DVD set about a week ago and listened and watched some samples from it online. Having seen the band at a "Day on the Green" in Oakland, CA back in the day, and going to the Benefit Premiere opening of the Song Remains the Same in San Francisco, CA I was hoping that this collection of live concert footage would reconcile what I saw of Led Zeppelin live and what I saw in The Song Remains the Same. I'm very pleased to say it has and then some. Those out there worried about the MSG need to worry! The sites and sounds bring me back to the days of massive stadium concerts and crankin' the volume up on my stereo until the vinyl LP spin'in on the turntable would start complaining it needed better acoustic isolation (no slab of granite just put the turntable on a heavier piece of furniture.) I heartily recommend this to new and old Zep' fans!

Die Hard

This is an unbelievable set. The movies look absolutely beautiful and the sound is great, but what really makes this set is the extras. All three movies have commenatry by the directors. All three movies have behind the scenes specials. However my favorite extra is the alternate ending to Die Hard with a Vengeance. This is not your normal alternate ending of just re-edited footage put on the disc. This one is actually an all new ending in a new location with different dialog. Whether this ending is better or worse than the one they used is up to you to decide.
I really can't say enough good things about this set. If you are a fan of the films you need to own this set. That is it 'nuff said.

jess franco's best movie.

Dr. Flamand (helmut berger) kidnaps beautiful women and cuts their faces off in experiments for his sister. His beautiful assitant (Brigitte Lahaie) helps abduct the women , one a fashion model played by genre favorite Caroline Munro. There is a descent amount of gore , not like the package plays it up to be. telly savalas has a small role. The extras are cool but the interviews go on forever and the still gallery is poorly set up.This is jess franco's best movie , but if you've seen anything else he directed that's not saying much.

Ending is terrific!

I just loved the ending to this film, I did suspect, but I could never be quite sure, I just have to say that of all the films I have seen, the finale to this one was peachy! Actually, I am glad I never twigged 100%, I would have missed out on the thrill.
When this film starts off and Nicole Kidman is interviewing people for the servants' jobs, I thought "what a nutter", locking all doors, no light in rooms where the children were to be, the kids couldn't run about, not allowed outside etc etc etc, however, this just added to the superb storyline.
This film had never appealed to me, I only watched it because my own daughter had said how good she thought it was - I am glad I heeded her advice because I thoroughly enjoyed it too. It does not make you jump, but it does keep you interested - creepy scene when her daughter is playing with the string puppet in the attic though.
Great film with a superb ending, I definitely recommend this one.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
A classic season

Buffy the Vampire Slayer really came into its own in its brilliant second season.
This season introduced an extraordinary new villain, the charismatic vampire Spike, superbly played by James Marsters. Spike's partner Drusilla, a mystically crazed vampire who sees strange visions and longs to destroy the world, is a less successful creation. Also introduced in this season is Oz (Seth Green), who becomes a love interest for Willow, allowing her to drop her childish infatuation with Xander and mature as an individual, and Jenny Calendar, who provides a bittersweet love interest for Giles. Comic relief is provided by Principal Snyderman, well played by Armin Shimerman, who becomes the nemesis of Buffy and her friends at Sunnydale High.
In the main story arc of the season, another 'new' character is shockingly introduced in the episode, "Innocence". Angel, the good vampire who Buffy has fallen in love with, is suddenly reborn as his evil self, and we learn that Ms Calendar has been hiding a dark secret.
Buffy struggles to cope with betrayal by her lover and the realization that she may have to kill the man she loves. This sets up the plot arc that drives the second half of the season to a shattering conclusion in the two part season finale. The final moments are unforgettable. This is where BTVS transcends mere entertainment and becomes truly great television.
It isn't all wonderful. Some episodes fall flat, such as "Ted", where the late John Ritter does a guest shot, and "Go Fish", where Buffy investigates the mysterious disappearance of members of the swim team. But even the weak episodes have some redeeming moments - Cordelia's speech when she thinks Xander has been transformed into a fish is priceless.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE--One of My favorites!!!

Warner Bros could not have made a better choice with the casting of this movie!! It seems like all of the actors were made for this movie and the music score was excellent. Sometimes I don't play the speaking parts--I just listen to the music--it is just that good!!! The color is vivid and the stars really put on a show--if I didn't know any better, I'd swear Claude Rains was REALLY Prince John and Olivia De Haviland was really Maid Marian and Errol Flynn was Robin Hood!!!!
