Read This: Great Action Packed Movie!!!!!!

This great action packed movie is a real heart thumper. The action gets it going, than the wonderful dramatazation and sacrifices the people make gets your eyes going. Harrison Ford played this movie with the best he's ever given a movie! When russian terrorists high-jack the air force one, its up to the world's all-time favorite president to make it out. But he doesn't want to do that. His wife and daughter are on the plane, and he's getting them and his crew safe before he goes. When the Russians get him and are black-mailing D.C., whats gonna happen? Is he going to give up his life for his family? Is he gonna let the US blow the plane? You'll have to whatch it to find out! I reccommend this movie to mature teens and adults who can handle this movie. Like i said, its action packed, and tear jerking. THIS MOVIE ROCKS!

Great googly moogly

Now before you all go crucify me due to the title, listen to what I have to say. First off, this anime is around 45 min. Second, there is no spoken dialog besides some gibberish. The reason why I refer to it as an art film is because it has very deep symbolism. Don't go by what the review on the DVD says, it is not 'Hello Kitty on acid!' It is, for the most part, depressing. Some parts are funny, and some are bloody. Anyway, it is about a family of kittens. One kitten, Nyaako, has a fever and is in limbo between life and death. Eventually, death comes and takes her away. Her little brother comes and takes a portion of Nyaako's soul away from death which basically makes her braindead, but alive. I don't want to spoil much, but I will point out several objects that are crucial to understanding this film: the orange flower, the metal butterfly, God, the mouse costume.

The Impossible Dream

Thank God that Fox has gifted the world with another full season of one of the greatest television sitcoms ever created! It is absolutely incomprehensible to me that season after season of trash like "Full House" gets released but MTM collects dusts in vaults. Would also love to see "Rhoda" and "Phyllis" released, but know this is probably a long shot.

As Real As Life Is...

I remember hearing about this show before it aired, What I was told is that "It is about a grieving family greving the loss of their mother and moving to a new envirnoment"
When I heard what it was about and after watching the Pilot episode. I could totaly relate to the lead actor playing the son and the family as well because I was about the lead son's age when my father suddenly died. So I loved how there was a show that can totally show what I went through. The only difference I find not real was the fact that the father of the show is so rich, he doesn't even charge his patients for his practice. I find that a little unrealistic because majority of widows out there are not millionares. Anyway I enjoyed watching the chemistry of "The Browns" the most because I found a show that you can really relate to. I'll be buying this DVD on the release date.

LOST FOR WORDS!!!!

What a classic. but first i must address the review on the first page from "a 12 year old viewer" titled "Goodfellas" (I think). Well first, De Niro is one of the most important characters in the movie (along with joe, ray etc.). Its also alot more than just "Cuss words and blood", actually watch the movie instead of just the violence and language aspect of it, anyway, this movie is not intended for an audience of your age. The movie shows an accurate representation of the mafia in america during 1930 through to 1980(and beyond) as well as a damn good story. Each actor (and actress) give it their best and it shows. Watch this movie because it is the best mafia movie ever made, i liked it better than the godfather movies, but thats just my opinion. (although the kid had a point about the pretty heavey violence and amount of swearing, but its pretty funny).

What can I say? I like this show.

I liked it a lot when it was on, and I'm liking having it on DVD. If you're a sci-fi fan and haven't discovered this show yet, there's an easy way to find out whether you'd like it.
Ask yourself this:
Do I really care about this stuff (rate them 1-5, 1 low 5 high):
Blowing stuff up Ongoing plotlines Political stories "Gritty" storyline Unrelated episodesCute characters
Now, based on this, there isn't a whole lot of "blowing stuff up" a-la Star Wars. If that's what you're looking for, it ain't here - there's some occasional armed conflict, but it isn't the focus. If you gave "ongoing plotlines" a 5, you'll like this. Same with "political stories" and "gritty storyline". They don't pull punches here. That's not to say it's grim reaperish like Bladerunner, but it is serious when it needs to be. "Unrelated episodes": there aren't any. Everything you see here will come back to haunt you...kinda like real life, isn't it? "Cute characters" (again, like Star Wars R2D2 or Ewoks)...none. If you're looking for something for the kids, go get a Barney video. This won't be very entertaining for them until they get to at least 10-13 or so.
All that said, this pack here is the first part of a long tapestry - you've just unrolled it, there's more to come, and it all sticks together. Parts are nice by themselves, but the appreciation of the thing really won't hit you till you've experienced the whole of it.
I found it to be the best-written, most well-executed, finely-cast, and interesting sci-fi series since the original Twilight Zone or perhaps the 60's Star Trek. You'll particularly like how the Presidency of earth seems to reflect much of what is going on today...like all good sci-fi, it is almost prescient in it's portrayal of human behavior.

Killer!

The movie was actually better than what I expected. The story line was scary, but only due to the fact the it happens every day. The story could have been stretched more though and Snider's performance was extremely dull. If it would have been a big Hollywood movie, it would have gotten better reviews. Tip to Snider: next time you make a movie, leave yourself out of it and pitch it to a bigger movie company. The movie could have been longer and a little more intelligent.

Correction Folks.

For the reviewers who keep commenting about the wonderful Irish scenery and how authentic it is, be advised the movie was filmed in its entirety on the Isle of Man, not in Ireland. A small difference maybe, but certainly not Ireland.

Possibly one of the best films ever made.

This review is for the Criterion Collection DVD edition of the film.

"The Devil & Daniel Webster" is simply put, a great film with an important moral. It is based on a short story of the same name by Stephen Vincent Ben?t.

It takes place near the state lines of Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire in the 1840's. Jabez Stone, a struggling and destitute farmer signs a contract with Satan, offering to give him his soul after 7 years of good fortune. He has money but is very unhappy with his predicament. When the devil comes to collect, Jabez calls on Daniel Webster to help him void the contract.

Note:
Daniel Webster was a real-life historical figure. He was secratary of State a few times and ran for president in 1836

I am reminded of Matthew 16:26
"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" I could almost say that this could be a Christian film. It goes to show that one's soul is more important that their life.

The acting in the film is excellent and a great Oscar? winning musical score. The film also includes the classic folk tune "Devil's Dream" which is a longtime favorite of mine.

The film was remade in 2001 by Alec Baldwin but never released due to budget problems in post production. Quite a shame as a remake would be great for the times we are living in.

The DVD has an excellent assortment of special features also.

There is a recording of Alec Baldwin reading the original short story by Stephen Vincent Ben?t, production and publicity photos and ephemerma, A comparison between the two versions of the film, a presentation about the music in the film, audio commentary by Bruce Eder and Steven C. Smith, and two audio drama radio shows based on Stephen Vincent Ben?t's stories "The Devil and Daniel Webster" and "Daniel Webster and the Sea Serpent."

This DVD is one of the best releases by the Criterion Collection and I highly recommend this film.
