Ray was Excellent!!!

Ray Charles was from my parents generation; he was ok but I was never a huge fan. I mainly went to the movie to see Jamie Foxx. I was shocked to hear some of his early songs - I never knew they were his. That combined with Jamie Foxx's excellent portrayal made me love this movie and Ray Charles. Don't get me wrong, I didn't love the things Ray Charles did, but I feel like I got to know him. His independence was impressive, and he was a very smart business man. If you're a fan of music, enjoy dramatic movies and like to pull for the underdog, this is the movie to see. Great pacing, great casting and great acting. I certainly plan to add this to my DVD collection. Jamie Foxx should WIN best actor this year. Hopefully the academy will give the Oscar based on each actor's current performance and not all the other crap they mention when justifying why someone was overlooked.

Ok, yes, watch this film for it's haunting tale of war..But the reason I love this film is the love story of characters Dov and Karen, played by Sal Mineo and Jill Haworth. Their onscreen chemistry is heartbreaching. Sal Mineo won an Oscar Nomination(his 2nd) in "Exodus", and he also won the Golden Globe award in "Exodus" for best supporting actor. Mineo was robbed as he should have also won the OSCAR!

A must have even for the mediocre Fleetwood Mac Fan.

This is without a doubt the best Music DVD I have seen, even my wife liked it (and she doesn't particularly like Fleetwood Mac). Lindsey Buckinghams voice has changed since the Rumours album days, but the overall effect is the same. I would recommend this DVD to everyone.

My VCR is still smoking!

If you like dancing this is a video you must have. The costumes are wonderful exceeded only by the excellent dancing. I dare you to sit still all the way through this. A variety of styles that will suit everyone. Be forewarned though, the finale may cause spontaneous combustion!!

This "Thing" DELIVERS!

OMG! "The Thing" is John Carpenters masterpiece!

I watched this movie fore the first time last night; alone, in my darkened basement and it scared the living hella outta me! This movie ROCKS!

Somehow, "The Thing" always eluded me. I never knew much about it and never really had an interest in it until I started doing a little research on the internet of horror/sci-fi movies I had not seen.

First off, "The Thing" holds up marvelously 23 years after its release! In fact, this movie could probably be re-released today and make a ton of money. It's just THAT good. With so many of our classic horror movies being re-made these days; this is one re-make that was done right and at a time when re-makes weren't being mass produced (as they are in today's market).

Well written, acted, & shot, "The Thing" is one heck of a gore fest. The graphic violence in the "The Thing" is just amazingly shocking, realistic, and awesome!

Quick plot summary:

A US research team working in the Antarctic comes across a Norwegian base that has been deserted. They find a dead and deformed body and take it back for research. The end up learning that something has attacked the Norwegians and is somehow shape-shifting with detailed precision into a predatory killer. By researching the evidence left behind by the Norwegians, they find a space ship that looks like it crashed in the snow some time ago.

They soon realize they are being stalked, and it could be anyone of the team. They began to lose all trust and confidence in each other and quickly began to turn against their colleagues.

Will they find WHO amongst them is a "Thing"?
Can anyone kill this creature before it wipes them all out and infects our entire civilization?

Kurt Russel rounds out a very nice cast of actors in this fantastic thrill ride. I was very impressed and satisfied with John Carpenter's "The Thing".

I cant recommend this movie enough! Enjoy!!

trippy brooding sexy the best version

ok this movie may not be for everyone but if you are in the mood for a trully strange film (by the also srange jess franco) that is both sexy and stylish, has a brooding jazz score, and is about a down on luck trumpet player who finds a corpse on the beach in instanbul only to see the dead woman again apearing to him in a fur coat and stockings, in rio then give this a go, but be warned this is more a mood driven film not naration driven. that is not to say that the film has no plot but rather the plot takes a backseat to mood, i thought this was one of the most brooding films i have ever seen and enjoyed it for that. if the above doese not sound like your thing then i would be the first to say give thiss one a miss. if on the other hand you still feel like giving this one a go then you too may just fall into its spell. as for the disk its by blue undergound so you know your getting the best nuff said go see the movie

This is YOUR history!

The first time I saw this series I was enraptured. I was mesmerized by the simplicity of photographs, music and melodic narration that were seamlessly merged into a heartbreaking, yet beautiful vision of our past. The Civil War seems so long ago, but in doing my family genealogy, I realize that it wasn't. Many things have changed, yet some have not changed at all. These were real people, real lives, real emotions. We were devasted with the attacks on our country by terrorists from other countries on 9/11. Imagine how your ancestors felt about the attacks from within their country by their neighbors, friends and families divided by misbegotten notions. This series is a triumph of the human spirit.

Wow, great movie.

Everyone told me about this movie about 2 years ago. I was shocked the first time I saw it. It is a very funny movie, one of the best punk-related movies I've ever seen. It's placed in 1985 and it really makes you feel like you are living in that year. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone that likes punk.

What a fantasy to share with my little girl!

I fell in love all over again with Mary, Burt, the Constable, Admiral Boom and Uncle Albert. My three-year old insists on watching it at least once a day, and I watch it with her--it never wears thin. Like a good cult film, I see or catch something new every time I rewatch it.
