RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!

First off, I AM NOT a Star Trek fan. I am a Star Wars FREAK. Fortunately, my Trekkie uncle helps me get the plot, which was so excellent I didn't really need his help. He even lends me his awesome Locutus action figure! The only reason I watched FC is because I think the Borg are COOL! I don't know why, but I have a fascination with cybernetic beings, like the Cyberdyne Systems Terminator Endoskeleton Series 800 Model 101 (Terminators!). DON'T ASK ME WHY I LIKE CYBORGS!!!! Anyways, I felt this film covered everything. Special effects, dialogue, & the plot is not a "Trekkies Only!" type of thing. Of course, you should have some basic knowledge of the show, though. GEORGE LUCAS DOES NOT DO STAR TREK!!!!

You will be laughing the whole movie!

I have a 3 years old son, and together we have seen the movie a lot of times. It has excelent color and animation, and you'll be all time expecting what will wrong in next step.
Jimmy Neutron's parents are sweet and funny (at the end of the movie, check it!!), and shows a happy family. Their advices about not talking to strangers is a perfect way to the story.
If you are a adult-child, you'll enjoy and laugh out loud.

Brava, Madama!

This opera comes at the height of Gheorghiu-madness, when she was a budding opera star coming full force onto the scene! This is the BEST sung La Traviata, at least on the female side. The often-painfully sung "Follie... Sempre Libera" is PERFECTION in beautiful Gheorghiu's hands, sung powerfully without strain or painful-sounding noises, er notes. =)The only weakness is a somewhat weak, nasally Alfredo. But Frank Lopardo is a great tenor despite this tendency. The elf-like late Sir Solti was a brilliant masterful conductor. Sets are minimal, acting is fantastic (as it happens, some of the best actors, like Pavarotti, are poor as actors), the singing is superb. Highly recommended!

What could be better

I saw the movie back in the 70's, bought the book, read otherS. Jackson stories, bought the VHS, saw it over and over. The only thing that better the experience of "The Haunting" is if it will come out in DVD in widescreen format.

A Great Western, A Great Deconstruction, A Great Film

This is one of my favorite Altman films (Vincent & Theo, The Player, The Long Good-Bye, and Short Cuts round out the top 5). He takes the Western--a great American genre, but an oft-hackneyed one--and injects new blood into its withered old veins. Gone are the trademarks of the old Western, many of which simply transplanted bourgeoise America onto the Plains: the setting is cold, wet, snowy, green and mountainous as much of the west was and is--not flat, dry, still and khaki-colored; the dialogue is common, vulgar and overlapping--not genteel and well-schooled; the people are crude, dirty and uneducated--not clean and prim; the hero is not a hero at all, not brave and skilled at gunplay--in fact, not everyone owns a gun; etc. etc. etc. Altman recreates the Western in this brilliant tale of greed, cowardice, power, cruelty, progress, and the calculus of addiction. Warren Beatty, Julie Christy and the rest of the cast are outstanding.

OH MY GOD!!!!, I can't believe that the Sailor Moon R Movie is going to be on video commercially uncut/unedited! WOW! I've seen this video and in my opinion, it is the BEST out of the three. The moves, comedy scenes, drama scenes, and music are all excellent especially the ending song MOON REVENGE. This is a video that every Sailor Moon fan has to get!!!! Trust me you won't regret it ^_^

Amazing movie plus awesome bonuses from the DVD

Words fail me when expressing how much I love this film. It first came out when I was in middle school and I have watched the film countless times since then; each viewing as entrancing as the last. I love this movie not only for it's visuals but also for its incredible music. I am a huge fan of Danny Elfman. Had he just put out an album with music like this without being attached to the movie I would have been happy, however, this incredible music is accompanied by spectacular visuals, ultimately creating an amazing experience.

It is obvious to me that Tim Burton is a fan of Edward Gorey; the influence is apparent in his artwork. All of the art in the movie is rather dark, and dreary. The whole movie is stop-motion animation yet the movie takes on an ambiance of being sketched with a pencil. The story is very creative and quit alluring. All the characters in the film are relatable in one way or another. Jack is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town. Though he is the King of fright, he longs for more in life, but he doesn't know what will fill that void. Then there is Sally. She longs to be free from her creator and wants to experience life on her own terms. Ultimately Jack discovers that the void he has been feeling is not from lack of fame but from lack of love, which he finds with Sally.

As far as the DVD itself, you get wonderful bonuses with it. The production, commentaries, and creating of the movie is very interesting. It's amazing the amount of work, patience, and talent that went into this movie. Then there is the short film Vincent which Tim Burton made years before his breakthrough in the film industry. Though it is only a few minutes long, it's so cute, creative and well done. I just love everything about this DVD; the movie itself plus all the extras.

The best comedy ever.

My son and I took his three children (ages 15,11, and 5 to the movies. The two older children picked Bio Dome. Thank God 5 year old grandson was with us. He got bored and I used him as an excuse to leave the movie and amuse him in the lobby. Five or ten minutes went by and I was approched by the theater manager. "You must be watching Bio Dome", he said. I responded with "yes I'm afraid so". He said, "I've been manager since they opened this theater up, and I believe this movie holds the record for walk-outs". It was BAD!

Great music by Korn's Jonathan Davis; Townsend fabulous!

To begin with, Interview With the Vampire is my favorite movie of all time, and I thought Tom Cruise was wonderful as Lestat de Lioncourt. When I first saw the trailer with Stuart Townsend in the role, I thought, "Who is this guy? What were they thinking to choose him?" Nonetheless, since I love the Vampire Chronicles, I just had to see the movie anyway no matter how terrible I thought Townsend would be in it.
When I saw the movie, I finally realized why Townsend had been cast. He was absolutely fabulous as Lestat. He seemed more natural in the role than Tom Cruise had (though still great). He brought to Lestat the beauty and sensuality I felt Cruise had not been able to completely perfect. Townsend's Lestat is arrogant, sexy, and sleek. Did I care that Townsend refused to bleach his hair blonde? No way!
As for the DVD, I was delighted that it had as many features as it did. Especially great (to me) are the Lestat music videos and the extended concert sequences. As opposed to the soundtrack you can buy, these songs (as in the movie) all feature vocals by Korn's Jonathan Davis. I especially found this interesting, being able to compare the renditions between the CD soundtrack and the movie. So, if you're a Korn fan, I'd say this would be especially interesting to you.
Though I did not favor this movie over Interview With the Vampire, I still do love it!
