If you liked this movie, RAISE THE RATING!!! It deserves much more than 3 1/2 stars. A definite must-see. I was so totally scared. One of my all-time favorites and easily the scariest movie I've ever seen. Very funny too. Very very good acting also. Do I see some oscar nods here...

My grade: A+

"What's your favorite scary movie?"

"Scream" revived the horror genre, and created one of the scariest films ever made. A sadistic serial killer stalks the teenagers of a small town, specifically, the daughter of a woman who was murdered exactly one year ago. Directed by horror master, Wes Craven, "Scream" promised to be THE horror film of the 90s, and followed up on that promise. The DVD is fantastic; loaded with extras such as: 3 Behind the Scenes Featurettes, Audio Commentary, Theatrical Trailers, TV Spots, Film Facts, Q&A w/ the cast and crew and so much more. This is THE horror dvd!

I give this nude revival 5 stars. For taste and originality

It is obvious form the start of this asana yoga tape..that the artists' interest in Yoga is genuine. That is good news! I love doing yoga and have enjoyed it's benefits for many years. The central theme apparently is 'how to relax' and the various exercises or asanas are variations of popular choices that you will find in best selling Yoga books which are on the market Today. The style and the nude approach are realistic in accordance with the attentions of these times. As long as the spirit of yoga is genuine then the effort itself is not wasted. The willingness of the teacher is applied directly through the willingness of the students.Relaxation and this kind of natural flow can be found in the various yoga methods which are available for study in the Now and Present Times.Thank-you.

A Must See!

I just finished watching "Local Hero" for the 100th time! I love it, I love it and I love it. It never gets old, the story remains fresh.
Few questions that I've yet to answer after all these viewings...
1. Whose baby was that anyhow?
2. Whats with all the women swooning over the Russian?
I will continue to watch until I have solved these mysteries! Thankfully, I think they are unsolvable!
Watch this movie, you will not regret it.

Outstanding documnetary overview of the Depression

There are very few movies I chose to see again and again, and fewer still when it comes to documentaries. However this film is filled with wonderful period pieces -- mostly carefully chosen newsreel and movie clips -- that weave a woeful tale of the Depression. Strangely enough, the film is almost exhilarating, showing the courage and perseverance of individual Americans as well as the country as they faced the 1929 Crash and struggled through the grim thirties. There are dozens of carefully chosen movie clips using characters portrayed by Cagney,Bogart, etc., as well as many other lesser known actors and films dealing with very real issues of survival. I bought this DVD three years ago. When I went to purchase it for a friend I was surprised to see that no one had reviewed it! It deserves five stars and a much wider audience. (There is a short film, "The River", about the 1937 Mississippi flood, which by itself is worth the price of the DVD.)

Cry, the Beloved Country - movie DVD cover picture

This adaptation of Alan Paton's best selling novel is superior to the 1951 version starring Sidney Poitier, though that earlier adaptation is also excellent. Here, Richard Harris gives a sharply drawn performance as a hard nosed, well to do landowner in South Africa with a somewhat negative attitude toward the native population. James Earl Jones gives a beautifully nuanced, sensitive performance as a simple, country preacher who is described by a colleague as simply the "best man he ever met".
The story takes place in 1946. The preacher temporaily leaves his flock and family to go to Johannesburg to search for his brother, his sister, and his son, Absalom. For those who are well versed in the Bible, the name "Absalom" is not without significance.
He finds all three, but too late. His brother has turned away from the church and become involved in racial politics. His sister has turned to prostitution, and his son has become involved with less than salubrious companions.
The landowner lives in the same countryside as the preacher, and he, too, has a son. As did the preacher's son, his had also migrated to Johannesburg, and was a well known city engineer, as well as an altruist dedicated to helping the native population. Unfortunately, the son ends up murdered in his own home by a gang of natives, one of whom is Absalom.
While the landowner and the preacher may have been from the same area and their paths may have crossed, they had never before spoken to one another, until their paths tragically intersected through their sons: one murdered, the other, the murderer. Their respective journeys to reach their sons serves to starkly draw the contrast between White and Black South Africa. In fact, this is essentially the story of two South Africas, one White, the other, Black.
It is also the story of two fathers, each finding that his son is lost to him forever. What follows is the struggle of each father to understand what happened, and the reasons why it may have happened in the bigger context. Ultimately, they are just fathers, united in sorrow, as they never could have been in life, at least not in South Africa; neither of whom comprehends the new order of things to come. Yet, as each discovers who his son had been, a new understanding dawns upon them and a barrier is surmounted.
There is an inadvertent meeting between the two fathers while in Johannesburg, that is one of the most moving scenes of any film, carried by the affecting performances of Harris and Jones. It is a moment that is certainly not lost on the viewer. There is also one other scene where the fathers meet again, back in the countryside where they are from. Again, Harris and Jones create a mood that bespeaks volumes, such is their talent.
This is an incredible and memorable film that should not be missed. Harris and Jones are supported by Charles Dutton, who gives a dynamic performance as the preacher's errant brother, and by a largely unknown cast who are uniformly excellent. This is a quality film from beginning to end.

An Epic Look At The Beginning Of The Space Program

This film should have been a hit. I was suprised that it wasn't. It accurately depicts (despite a few little inaccuracies) the beginning of our journey into space. The visual effects were great for the time period. The storyline moves fast but well written. Bill Conti's music for the film was inspiring. The cast (Scott Glenn, Ed Harris, Dennis Quaid, Fred Ward, Lance Henriksen, Jeff Goldblum, etc.) was well picked. This film, despite some inaccuracies, should be recommended viewing for High schoolers (along with "Apollo 13," and the war films "Saving Private Ryan," and "The Patriot."). 5 stars and above.

Give me just one reason...

I love almost every performance in this video. But if there is only one singer you are going to see in this video, it is Michael Ball; if there is only one song that you are going to listen to, it's his Gethsamane.
This guy sings with all his heart and soul. Such devotion. And you can tell the difference it makes. I have seen Michael Crawford sang the same song in a concert on PBS, no I am sorry his performance could not compete with Michael Ball's. Somehow Mr. Crawford treated the song indifferently. And the one in the motion picture has the passion, but not the voice. Michael Ball has both.

PERFECT QUALITY - Nothing Wrong With This Copy!

Why would someone *LIE* and say that the picture quality to this DVD set was bad?! The picture and sound quality (for both films) is absolutely PERFECT! If you're a fan of Citizen Kane, or Touch of Evil, take a chance.... Open your mind to the next level of Welles genius! The Trial, in particular, will blow your mind with its avant-garde flare!
