Quite possibly the best movie of all time

What to say about this movie? I've now seen it upwards of 30 times, and I love it more and more with each viewing. It's really less about a psycho killer as it is satirical look at the "yuppie lifestyle" of the 1980's. As far as actual violence, the movie is way toned down compared to the book.
I think the category it best fits into would be a dark comedy. The more you see it, the more you notice every nuance of every character, with Christian Bale's portrail of Patrick Bateman being the undisputed masterpiece of the film. He brings a witty and amusing, yet still scary edge to Bateman. This is one of the best performances I have seen by an actor in a movie.
This is definitely a must-see.

Awesome Movie: Interesting reproduction of the book

I'm not going to claim that I have seen the original, nor remember reading the boring novel in literature class, but I did see this DVD. This movie is exceptional, stylish, and captivating. Ethan Hawke is brilliant, as the son of a poor handyman, who falls hard for the daughter of a bitter, old wealthy widow(played exceptionally by Anne Bankroft). The real show-stealer is Gwyneth Palthrow, the object of Hawke's affections, as an iceberg princess, incapable of love or emotion. This film shows that no matter what success we achieve in life, it is all hollow without the affections of those we care about most.

Disney's Finest film!!!!!

This is my favorite Disney film and I'm so pleased to own it on dvd. Made during Disney's "rebirth" in the late 80's and early nineties, this film was released to both critical and popular acclaim. After receiving 6 Oscar nominations and winning for best song, the film continued to be a favorite among many. Last year, Disney re-released the film on IMAX, a visual treat and now they are giving us three editions in this edition! This dvd is filled with lots of goodies, including games, commentaries, videos as well as the special edition shown in IMAX, the original edition and the "work in progress" that was shown at the New York film festival before the premiere of the film. The story of Belle, a young woman who dreams of adventure in her life is beautifully animated and filled with great songs that stay with you long after you've seen the film. All the characters are lots of fun and the film pretty well embodies all you could ask in a film---romance, adventure, musical numbers, and a good villain! This is a guaranteed good time for little ones and those of us adults who love a great animated film. A great gift for a friend, a little one, or yourself! This is a great two dvd set. You'll love it!

A Great Book Too

A made for T.V. mini series, a bit dated. The book is GREAT. This movie follows the book well (for a movie). Lots of little mini-stories going on. Lot's of popcorn opportunities here. I like it, saw it on T.V., rented it on VHS and now I own it on DVD. It's hit the bargin bin at Wally Mart, so you can get it there or here (for about the same price used). Now's the opportunity. Again... remember it's a made for T.V. mini series.
One thing... all these years it's been around I recently realized that Tommy Lee Jones was Capt Coll.. I couldn't believe I missed that. But I did. It really sucks you in. By the way, you have got to read the book if you never have. Then you will belong to the "cult" following. I'm a big fan of Larry MacMurtry!

A True Hero in the Shadows

I bought "61*" on a whim. I have a soft spot for baseball movies, and it was the first one I happened upon when I bought it. What a surprise! This movie is, hands down, the best baseball movie I've seen in a long time. Barry Pepper and Thomas Jane pull at your hearts while they portray M&M. You'll want to cheer Maris on in hopes that he'll break the Babe's record in time for his home run talley to be the "official" record(not the one with an asterisk). This isn't one of those giant vs. the underdog type movies, it's a giant vs. a giant, albeit one of them is a gentle giant in a game that has always had its share of outlandish stars. Mr. Crystal does not disgrace either of the heroes in this film. If you loved Mantle before this film, you'll have no ill feelings toward him afterward. As for Maris, Pepper's portrayal of him will make you want to cherish Roger even more. Go out, buy this movie, watch it, and then add it to the top of your baseball collection, preferably somewhere between "The Natural" and "Eight Men Out." This movie is definitely a bright spot for baseball's legacy.

Interactions

This movie is about interactions. What you say and do, what others say and do, influence what we do. Action and reaction with a smidgen of chance mixed in. That's it folks, in a nut shell.

Deserves a huge amount of "Mother-love"

I would have to say that Peter Jackson is one of my favorite directors now, bar none. I first saw this about 8 years ago and my life hasn't been the same since. Never did I see such a gruesome display of gore, but also I never saw a movie that made me laugh so hard as well. I think one should be careful if all they've seen of him is "Lord of the Rings". But its obvious many of the hallmarks of his style can be seen in all his films : Jerky but focused camera angles used for comedic effect, dry humor that gets funnier the more you think of it, a very exploitative style of filmaking, and so on. I have never seen a film of Peter Jackson that I didn't like. Some of the funniest scenes I have ever seen are in this and his debut, "Bad Taste". He deserves all of his success and more.

Titan AE...The way animation should be

Titan AE is one of the best animated movies ever made. The combination of 2D and 3D animation is terrific. The DVD is packed full of great features, including deleted scenes. The only real problem with these, however, is that the scenes are not totally finished, and some are missing the cgi materials and others are in black and white. However, the DVD as a whole is fantastic and a great buy. While the story is nothing to talk about, it's simplicity is what makes it so great. It's sort of like Star War in that it takes a simple story but makes me enjoyable with great visuals and twists. This is without a doubt the Star Wars of animation and will probably go down as one of the biggest Cult Hits in Animation. The movie as a whole will remind you of a new age version of Heavy Metal, especially with teh rock sound track interwoven within the movie. The only real difference between the two is that Titan is aimed at teenagers and not adults (ie, no foul language or sex). Its also great to see a movie that depuncts the Disney formula of graphic death scenes or sing alongs. My favorite scene in the movie is near the beginning when a character, who looks suspiciously like a cricket, has an unfortunate encounter with the guys (an inside shot at a certain Disney character?).

VIVA LOS GITANOS

Excellent. The music alone is worth the watch.Sure the storyline is thin (vendetta) but a look into the Moorish/Gitano (Gypsy) lifestyle in al Andalus well worth it.Stunning scenery, good acting, flamenco, all make this a great movie. As a descendant of these people I enjoyed a look into a culture that was unknown to me.Another thing that was all too realistic for me was the central character Caco's lack of fear of mortality due to his daughter being deceased;I lost my 4 year old daughter on 9/11/02 and I no longer fear dying if my daughter and I will be reunited.
