Quite A Thrilling Movie

Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (Cooley High, The Jacksons an American Dream, Welcome Back Kotter) stars in this thriller as a upper middle class African-American agent named Anthony on his way to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. Things are looking great, he has closed a big deal and he drives past a hitch hiker on the side of the road. He picks up this wacked out guy named Ernie. What is really hard to understand about this film is that on several occassions Anthony gets the chance to see just how crazy Ernie is and still stays with him. It gets unbelievable after while. They bond by telling child hood stories, but the viewer really can't really understand WHY Anthony would put himself out there for this complete stranger. They share story after story after story and Anthony seems not to worry about his own schedule or situation. Maybe he was lonely. What is quite clear is that Ernie is nuts and Anthony is a little nuts to stay in the car with him. You have to watch this movie for yourself, it's really good.

Emotional Roller Coaster

Spielberg and Osment will be getting awards this year. This is the best movie I have seen all year. The reason I liked the movie so much is that I was pulled into the story. From the previews I had really no idea what the movie was about. I knew it was about a little boy robot and that is it. The easiest way to sum up what I went through was an emotional roller coaster. This ride for me puts anything at Disney World to shame. It is kind of like when you get off of a roller coaster and you have that hazy feeling. I was left in that world when the movie ended and it took a day to get back into reality. I have to go see that movie again just because the story is so good and I loved the ride it put me on emotionally

Two At A Time Is Fine!!

I think the system of DVD's is fine the way it is. While it is sometimes more expensive to buy the whole season at two shows per DVD, these DVD's have more features on them than the other shows with their whole season on one DVD. The Farscape DVD's have more features that are great to watch, escpecially the commentaries that give the viewer a background view of what's going on in the show. These extra features would not always be available if the whole season were on one disc, and they are what make these DVD's worth every penny! Farscape is the best no matter how you package it!

mental exercise

Unlike most current movies, this one requires the viewer to think. This is the type of movie Alfred Hitchcock would produce today; very complex, but well done. Afterwards, we spent an hour discussing the script and characters.

A Complete Review Would Take Weeks

Carol, Harvey, Tim and Vickie do a great job of reminding us of just how funny that show really was. I disagree with many of the reviewers who only gave this one star because this show gave me all I could have wished for.
Tim and Harvey could always break each other up but the revelations that each of the others could be broken up too was a scream. Of course some great sketches were omitted and I wish this could have been longer but one does not get what one wants all the time. Five stars.

Berserk (Another Review)

This series is one heck of an anime. It has action, violence, and the occasional bloodbath. This my friends is Berserk , a anime that takes us to follow the life of Gutz. We see how he met up with the band of the Hawk and why he gets mad at Griffith. This series isnt intended for younger audiences but still its something worth watching!

Great Book = Great Film

First off, let me give a word of advice in reference to this movie and all other movies based on books: movies and books are not the same so don't expect them to be so. If you read the book and then watch the movie, comparing all the subtle differences and changes made to the story, you are really wasting your time.
I read the Green Mile and then watched it shortly after and I am conviced this is one of the best film adaptions ever made. The cast is simply amazing, straight out of the book. Michael Duncan Clarke, is John Coffey . . . "like the drink only not spelled the same." Tom Hanks was an even more compelling Paul Edgecomb than in the book. The set design is equally flawless, just how I imagined it as I read the book.
Now to comment on the actual storyline of The Green Mile, the heart and soul of the film/book. The Green Mile is a story which captures the spectrum of human emotion, evoking pain, hatred, sadness and joy. It follows the account of Paul Edgecomb, a warden on prison block E, death row. He witnesses the deaths of many types of men, the pitiful, the deserving and the innocent.
The Green Mile in many ways is an abstract, allegorical retelling of the christian story: John Coffey with the purity and divinity of Christ, Paul Edgecomb an apostle-like witness, the devilish Wild Bill, and Percy, a Judah incarnate. Having said that I won't reveal what happens to these characters, but like the christ story it is both a tragedy and a triumph. And like the Shawshank Redemption, in the darkest situations in life, the human spirit is allowed to shine brightest.
