Quit Crying

The documentary on this dvd is amazing, almost 3 hours long. It covers every wrestler that helped create ECW,on a note to all cry babys who complain about lack of interviews-so what if most of the ECW stars werent interviewed? The Sandman cant wrestle. I have seen his matches and he is slow and out of shape, New Jack always seems to be in trouble with the law, and Raven and Shane Douglas are under contract to the rival company TNA. The highlights are cool, and the documentary covers basically every major event year by year. Something WWE lacks in every other documentary. The weak point is the matches; I have most of the matches on ECW dvds and agree more RVD or Tazz matches would of made this dvd better. Other then that, the documentary diffently gets 5 stars. I recommend fans who havent seen ECW before, they'll fall in love after watching the highlights of what this men did to their bodies for fans and love of wrestling.

Alison Krauss & Union Station Live - movie DVD cover picture

A great venue,an appreciative audiance, and six of the most talented musicians in the world combine to make this one of the most enjoyable DVD concerts in years. Here are six gifted musicians who are clearly now at the top of their game. Their affection for the music, and each other, permeates this performance. Recorded with DTS surround sound capablilty, the production takes full advantage of what technolgy can now deliver. AK's history (not to mention her singing) of "Let Me Touch You For Awhile" was priceless. The best two hundred and ten minutes you will ever spend listening to some of the most evocative american music made today.

Yoga for Urban Living - movie DVD cover picture
I vote it the best Yoga DVD for 2003!!!

I have over 40 exercise and yoga DVDs in my collection and many of them by Sara Ivanhoe (her's are wonderful too). But this one by Hemalaya is the best in my collection!!! A wide variety of choices, my favorite being the 1 hour yoga session. I'm just getting into Kundalini and it's nice to see breath of fire used in the practice. I use the DVD again and again and love it. She holds the poses for a nice amount of time with relaxation betweeen. Thanks Hemalaya! I'm waiting for a follow-up to this one. Well worth the money!!!
It is broken into 3 different sessions. The AM and PM sessions are 30 min. The AM is energizing and PM is relaxing. Both include a wide variety of yoga poses. She explains well, holds the poses for a long time, and allows time between to listen to the echos of the pose. My favorite is the full 1 hour session. Also included on the CD are explainations of breathing techniques and details on form of the poses.
Check my other review on Amazon for the best choices in exercise and yoga DVDs. Thanks!

Listen Up!

Half of this special edition DVD is about as special as old bread in an ice box. The Director's cut is long and meandering with the extra scenes edited it in a slow/almost pounderous way. It's like Titanic, too long and over dramatic. The Theater version is better, editing wise. The bonus features with all the interviews with the cast and crew were a bit mixed. The special effects artists sound like internet geeks with no talent. The sound editor's dialoge is slow and pounderous and the James Horner interview shows how much the composer still dispises Jim Cameron, (I'm sure the feeling is mututual). In the end, about half this DVD is a one star only.

Outstanding Single-Time Swing (Jitterbug) DVD!

Simply one of the best dance instruction DVDs I have. John Hill explains things clearly, from different angles, and with a good deal of easy-going all-American charisma befitting Swing.

This DVD has added a lot of nice flourishes to my current repertoire of Swing moves, and I even recently used many of John Hill's techniques that I learned from this DVD at a national ballroom DanceSport competition. These included the Alternating Rock Turns (aka Stop Turns) and Flare kicks. (I did quite well with my dance partner in the competition, most of the time earning first place finishes on our heats.)

I also got a lot out of the chapter on Multiple Turns, including the cool Double Inside Turn. In fact I still have quite a bit to go through on this DVD and it has provided me with hours of learning pleasure.

The bottom line: This DVD is worth the money, not only for the priceless info on it--but its ability to make you smile every time you play it! :)

The Woody Allen Collection - 8 pack - movie DVD cover picture
Woody fans (like me) will scream in ecstasy

Eight Woody-Allen-films in one DVD-collection. This is clearly a must for all collectors of great film classics. The included pictures should especially attract fans of his "earlier, funnier" work.
Most of the films on the DVD's were made in the 70's and most of them are pure comedies. "Bananas", "Sleeper" or "Love and Death" are among the funniest work by the director. It's unnecessary to say more words about the masterpieces "Annie Hall" and "Manhattan". Their place in the film history books is certain. Another film of the collection is the underrated "Interiors", which might not be funny, but a well observed, subtle, bergmanesque drama. "Stardust Memories" was also treated in an inappropriately hostile way when it was released.
I already said in my reviews of "Annie Hall" and "Deconstructing Harry", that I consider Woody Allen as one of the funniest, wittiest and finest filmmakers. It's really a pity that his latest films are all struggling to find an audience. I recently found out that his last film "Small Time Crooks" (which I haven't seen yet) succeeds to draw in customers. Maybe this is the beginning of his commercial comeback. Artisticly, he rarely let me down.

A compelling thriller

If you enjoy this genre, check out the latest Alex Cross thriller. Morgan Freeman returns to this role which is well-suited to his acting style. He portrays the phlegmetic investigator who is still trying to recover from the death of his partner in a sting gone awry. This time he matches wits with a man who enjoys toying with him. The perpetrator kidnaps the daughter of a senator and hides her, with no immediate plans to demand ransom. Plots and counterplots, double-crosses and red herrings--these are all a part of this carefully planned and slickly executed movie.

The Wait is Over! 01-11-05: Mark Your Calendars

89 days and counting from 10-14-04.

I've been waiting for this title on DVD format for a very very long time. Warner Home Video, who brings us the "The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn)," "Scaramouche (Stewart Granger)," "The Crimson Pirate (Burt Lancaster)" and "Knights of the Round Table (Robert Taylor)" is finally going to release it on January 11, 2005. At the original "Full Frame" format and for only $19.97 listed, it is a steal on my book.

Both Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor were at their youthful prime when the movie was made in 1952. I consider "Ivanhoe" one of the best of the very best of all swashbuckling movies ever made. Coming from Warner, I have full confidence that this release is another keeper. Enjoy!

Zorro, the Gay Blade - movie DVD cover picture

Saw this first when I was about 10 or so and I missed most of the gay jokes, but I LOVED the fencing. Now, 20 years later, I am an anomaly: A straight male in theatre, but now, I get all the gay jokes and it STILL cracks me up! Watch this movie if you're looking for swashbuckling fun!THANK GOD FOR SMALL FAVORS!
