Bad Santa - movie DVD cover picture

No matter How sophisticated you pretend to be, or how much you pretend to scoff at low brow humor: this movie will make you laugh harder than you ever laughed in your LIfe! The casting is absolutley perfect, so much so that my father, who has loathed anything with John Ritter in it, enjoyed his performance. "The kid" is so delightfully pathetic, you can't help but love him, yet can't help but laugh at him either. And of course Billy Bob Thorton as the drunken, foul-mouthed Santa, casting so well done it might pigeon hole him into that persona much like Keanu Reeves and the Bill and Ted movies. This movie is an instant classic and a new holiday family favorite in at least my household (bear in mind we are on the opposite side of the spectrum that the Cleavers are on) but those in need of a ton of good laughs and an important Christmas message, this is th movie.

Wonderful Series, Worth the Money!!!!!

I absolutely loved this season; so much of the story unravels. J Abrams did it again!! I watched both seasons on TV every Sunday, but watching it on DVD is so, so much better. I could not take the suspense, plus there were so many things I could not believed I missed. I truly recommend this series, even those who have seen it religiously on TV should buy it. It is like watching it for the first time. And the ending, OH MY! I think I curse after seeing it. That is all I can say about that.

I loaned my copy to a co-worker and he and his girlfriend, and entire family are hook. So beware, you Will become addicted!

Nuns on the Run - movie DVD cover picture
A Rare 1990 Film That's Laughable!

For a movie that takes place in the UK, you wouldn't expect it to be as funny... but it is. It resembles so much other movies... guys dressing up. For a good example, the recent White Chicks is quite similar. Except these two guys/criminals, are trying to hide from the police and the gangsters with the cash they stoled, dressed and living as a couple of Nuns.
Eric Idle(Brian) known for his humor in all of the old Monty Python movies... gives a stunning comedy performance here. Robbie Coltrane(Charlie), who we all know as Rubeus Hagrid in the new Harry Potter movies today... also gives an excellent job in acting here. The rest of the cast is a bit hazy, but you definitely won't forget any of their faces and silly humor after watching this. Even the bad guys have characters of their own.
Jonathan Lynn, the director is definitely well known for giving us comedy. Directing great movies such as "My Cousin Vinny"(Joe Pesci/Marissa Tomei) and "The Whole Nine Yard"(Bruce Willis/Matthew Perry).
I can't tell you a whole lot about this movie... it does tend to drag along at times, with action that does seem more laughable than enjoyable. All in all, Nuns on the Run is just flat out funny. It has comedy, actors, a great plot, little action, little nudity *winks*... this is a movie worth watching, but not a title all of you would want to own for yourself!

Brilliant! An uplifting celebration of the joy of life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a film. The story is simple and not a little metaphorical. The finding of one's own voice is something that many of us can relate to. Unfortunately though, I was left with the jarring, discordant memories of Michael Caine's character and LV's mother dominanting my impression, at the expense of some of the more exquisitly delicate aspects of the story. Ewan McGregor's Billy was brilliantly underplayed and the perfect foil for Jane Horrock's LV. I replayed all of their scenes to balance the lingering discord, and that worked relatively well. I think if the director and the editor had been more judicious in their decisions about the length of time that overwhelming characters were on screen the film would have been a masterpiece.

while the middle saga of the three tends to feel contrived, the characters are what keep it alive. Dana and her buddies are fun to watch as they argue, flirt, and fool around. Just get the whole is worth it.

Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

The re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy on VHS for the third (or is it fourth) time is an affront to fans. This newest release appears to offer nothing new but a trailer to Episode II. As fans eagerly await the DVD release, Lucasfilm has ignored their wishes, but instead has insulted fans by asking them to spend even more money on VHS tapes that will be replaced when the eventual DVD release is distributed. Shame on George Lucas!

Terrific Animated Tale!

Shrek is one of those movies that is impossible to dislike. Anyone will enjoy this movie. Mike Myers brings out one of his funniest voices and teams up with the incredible humor of Eddie Murphy for an unforgettable movie. From the beginning to the end of the movie you will be laughing (I laughed so hard at times I cried).
Parents, I would like to mention that this movie does include some adult themes which some parents could find too much for their small children, but I think that most kids would still enjoy it.
The DVD is loaded with all sorts of goodies too. There are two discs with hours of entertainment.
