Quick & Easy

I started with quik fix pilates, then added this two weeks ago. I really enjoy both tapes, this one has a few harder moves in the last two sections. I find I grab this and quick fix to get me started. Wish more folk would make the ten, ten , ten format. Its so easy to do "just ten minutes", then ten more.. then ten more... this is a good beg/intermediate tape.

Can we get an explanation?

I don't know what it is going to take for someone to realize how many people have been waiting years for a DVD of Wonder Years episodes to come out. I would, without a doubt, purchase episodes for myself if someone would pull this together and get it released!

Led Zeppelin Remains the Same...AWESOME !!

The Song Remains the same was made back in '76 and is basically footage of the 1973 Houses of the Holy tour concert in Madison Square Gardens, NY. The movies is a hybrid of the concert and fantasy sequences that the band filmed themselves.
I have watched this movie over and over again. the music is of course awesome...and some of the songs are played better live than they are on the original albums....the particular song that comes to mind is "The Rain Song". the fantasy sequence in the rain song is amazing too. Other songs they play include "Since I've been loving You", "Dazed and Confused", "Stairway to Heaven" & "Rock and Roll". A must have for any Led head!

Best TR documentary

This is an extremely well made and interesting documentary. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't had the time to read Edmund Morris' biography.

Joanna Going -- WOW!

It's offensive that Cameron Diaz is on the cover of this thing, when her mediocre part is over just about as soon as the credits.
Joanna Going gave her all, meanwhile, and isn't mentioned on the box at all. I bought the DVD to see her, and every red-blooded male out there bought it for the same reason. Who are they kidding with this Cameron Diaz jazz? It's a taut mystery story, too, with real characters in an unreal situation. I loved it.

Perhaps the best movie of 1999, period.

It's a brilliant musical, classically structured so the songs actually advance the plot. The story is over the top but the plotting is tight, the satire is razor sharp, and the characters get a little more room to live than they do on the small screen. If you're easily offended by crude language then this movie is not for you. If you like to laugh until you hurt, this is your film.

THis is a terrific DVD. It is fun to watch for both the children and adults. The songs are catchy and don't annoy you when you find yourself singing them all day in your head. My daughter (22 months--although we got this much earlier) loves it, dances and sings to it and asks for it to be played. It is definately a favorite. And a favorite I wholeheartedly approve.

A great concert direct to DVD...finally!

Phil Collins has always graciously bothered to record a "memento" show to document his successful world tours...Berlin in 1990, Paris in 1997, Dallas in 1985. A nice reward for some of us who got to see them in the flesh. His 2004 "First Final Farwell Tour" was no exception. If anything, this DVD reminds me how disappointing it is Collins has chosen now to "retire"; he has always packed his shows with top-notch production, both in visuals and sound. However, this couldn't always be captured on VHS (or even DVD rereleases of VHS). This DVD does capture it though. DVD technology has caught up to him...and now he's leaving!

Still, he has left us something truly wonderful on this DVD. Filmed in Paris in June 2004, the musical performances are fantastic, most notably topped with great sax solos by Gerald Albright. Helmed by director Hamish Hamilton, who worked wonders with Peter Gabriel's "Growing Up Live" DVD in 2003, the video footage is likewise sweeping in its scope, covering the massive stage, loads of band members, and the vast audience present. Collins is enjoyable to watch, but so too is everyone else around him.

The DVD is also packed with bonuses. A few performances from the concert come with the "multi-angle" feature and it is used here to good effect. Most tracks are also accompanied by their original music videos, which are nice to finally have in a digital format. There are also several other rare live performances culled from the archives that really make this DVD a must-have for all Collins fans.

Great visuals and great music, along with tons of extras, make this DVD a great buy. Sadly, Collins is part of a slowly-disappearing class of musicians who combined stunning visual styles with musical substance and produced fantastic rich shows that never tire on repeated viewing. Yet, thanks to great DVDs like this one, the show will always go on.

Wonderful Introduction to Gould's Work for Students

I first showed this to my students five years ago in one of those "after the holiday concert slump" moments. At first, the seventh grade students were restless, similar to the German hotel chamber maid whom Gould forces to listen to his newly arrived recording. At the same moment she becomes riveted, the students became riveted. I showed the video over two days. After that, students were curious about Gould and his life and work. With the advent of the suggestion that Gould suffered from Aspberger's Syndrome (a neurological disorder with similarities to autism), some of my students were interested in learning more about people with this disability, especially their afflicted classmates.I do need to stress, both to my students and even to some adults, that this is not truly a documentary. It is an art film. The man playing Gould is not Gould himself, but the actor Colm Feore. Many of the other people interviewed are truly portrayed by themselves, including Gould's piano technician, friends, and violinist Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Even with its questionable historic accuracy, it is a wonderful introduction to the works of one of the most highly regarded musicians of the last century.
