If I was trapped on a desert island with only 1 movie...

FaLiLV would be the one!!! This is the best movie I have ever seen besides The Hunt for Red October. You should be chemically altered (beer of course) to actually watch the whole thing. I have seen it countless times "drunk" and about 3 times sober. It is good. Get it now. Please buy this movie!!!

Fabulous dancing, fabulous music, fabulous Chayanne.

I loved this movie and bought the soundtrack immediately after seeing it the first time. The movie holds up even after seeing it four times. Chayanne and Vanessa Williams are excellent in the lead roles, and the movie has richness and depth in the many supporting characters.

See the Signs

I sat down on my sofa, wraped a blanket around myself, got cozy, and began watching this movie with high hopes and anticipation. I did like this movie, but it was much to serious. The characters seemed to be enveloped in a cloud of sadness and depression all the time. It's dificult to explain my reasons unless i detail why the constant sadness was present. There were a few moments of levity in the movie, but even the levity was downplayed.I loved the intense anticipation of .."what's around the next corner...". But i still felt like Mel Gibson was holding back. The Kids and Mel's *brother* were spectacular.I liked the movie, but I don't think it's up to its full potential for the actors that were in it, or the other way around. I'm not sure.Amy Davies

Delightful Kids Flick

I discovered thsi movie at the age of eight and became obsessed with it renting it several times then buying it for myself a few years later. Kids flicks don't get any better than this.
This movie is based on the book by Rolald Dahl which is about a boy who comes across a flock of witches while vacationing with his grandma on the English seashore. The witches *led by Angelica Huston* are meeting under the disguise of a "children's charity organization* but really are discussing plans to get rid of all of the children in England by turning them into mice! Unfortunately, the boy whose name is Luke becomes one of their first victims. The story is great fun as are the actors. The end is the best part which takes place at a fancy dinner for the witches, but I won't give it away. Fantastic movie for the young and the young at heart.

One of the best war films I have ever seen

This is one of my favorite films of all time. The battle actions is great and very realistic. Sergeant Steiner is a heroic combat veteren who has survived some of the fierces fighting against the Russian Juggernaut. In addition to having to fight the brave Russians, he has to endure the Military Politics that are ever present, even in battle. I spent twenty years in the U.S. Navy and know very well how the miliary social life is lived. The commaraderie displayed by the the Germans soldiers in this film draws an emotional bond known only by military personnel. This is truly a great movie.

Recommended by Leni Reifenstahl!

One of Guy Maddin's best-known films, Careful is naturally, extremely bizarre. The inhabitants of a mountain village must be careful not to make a noise loud enough to trigger an avalanche, which would bury them all. Naturally ther are all repressed, sexually as well as literally. The film is often very funny, with great lines of dialogue such as "here is all the hair I've lost in the past few weeks." Even the Oedipal elements are so melodramatic they're pretty chuckly. The colour scheme is pretty painful on the eyes, and often irritating, but it does make the film what it is.
