QUEEN OF SCOTS...

This creative film within a film, a mock documentary, is simply delightful. Funny and original, it is a biting satire on the Beverly Hills/Hollywood power circuit. In the process, it tells the wonderful story of Crawford MacKenzie, a popular and talented gay hairdresser from Glasgow, Scotland, who believes himself to be invited to represent Scotland in a prestigious hairdressing competition, the Platinum Scissors, to be held in Los Angeles, California. When he arrives, complete with a BBC film crew filming his every move as part of a feature documentary they are making of Crawford's participation in the competition, Crawford discovers that he misread the letter. He is strictly to be a member of the audience and is told so in no uncertain terms by the patronizing director of the competition, who has sized up Crawford as a nobody.
This does not deter Crawford from trying to be allowed to compete, as he definitely is not the kind of person who takes no for an answer. Crawford, charmingly played by the ever talented Craig Ferguson, pulls every trick in the book and ingratiates himself with Sean Connery's publicist, wonderfully played by Frances Fisher, who manages to open some doors for him. Along the way, he is snubbed by some Beverly Hills/Hollywood power types, including one of the competitors, an obnoxious Norwegian named Stig, who was the prior year's Platinum Scissors champion, played to perfection by David Rashe.
Still, the ever nice Crawford remains undaunted, and what he does to get into the competition is funny, especially when he starts fighting fire with fire. In a short time, Crawford becomes a force with whom to be reckoned, and he finally gets his dearest wish and is allowed to compete. The competition itself is hysterical and will amaze and delight the viewer. This little known film is an absolute gem. Craig Ferguson's performance makes the character of Crawford MacKenzie totally endearing, and the supporting cast is, likewise, terrific. There are also a number of marvelous cameos, including Drew Carey playing himself. All in all, a bloody good show!

Heroic Epic at its best

What should I start with? Well, it's really good piece of anime. It tells us a story of six characters, joined together by fate. Young man with the passion to become a knight someday, one young woman in love with him, one dwarf searching for his friend's daughter and one warlock who is helping him in his quest, one cleric and one thief sets out on a journey. We follow the adventures of Parn (human knight), Deedlit (beautiful elf woman), Etoh (human cleric), Ghim (dwarf), Slayn (human warlock) and Woodchuck (human thief). The series started with episode actually taken from the middle of this saga. Our heroes went into Great Dwarf Tunnel and... the story begins. In next few episodes we will learn how our heroes get together and what their backgrounds and goals are.
Great thing about this series is that story develops really fast and main characters rarely stuck in one location. Many new characters they encounter make this adventure even more exciting because those characters usually bring another story arcs into main plot, but in the end every path our heroes take is leading them to their final clash with ultimate evil.
Another aspect that makes this particular title interesting to watch is its unquestionable RPG link. It is really interesting to see how Parn's skill grows with every stroke he make, every new fight matures him, making him tougher and more able. It has everything average RPG fan will want.
What at first seemed like ordinary adventure becomes journey of their lifetime. Epic battles, great adventures, many races (humans, high elves, dark elves, orcs, berserker, even great dragons), sorcery and swordfights - it's all here. This anime takes itself seriously and delivers to us the genre that seems not so popular these days - heroic epic where good heroes are good, evil is evil, and almost every fight have an affection on the final balance of forces.
Opening and closing songs are very good, animation is top notched (for its time), and although there aren't many features on these DVDs, the animation itself is worth it. This anime set standard for fantasy adventure, like later Berserk did. Enjoy it.

A Wonderful good-time Comedy

This movie isn't exactly going to win an oscar for "best movie", but that's not what it's aimed at. This movie is hillarious! It has you laughing before the beginning credits are through! Okay, so maybe the comedy isn't exactly intelligent and provoctive, but hey, does it really matter when your rolling on the floor? The music is also great, but if you are going to buy the soundtrack, buy the first. The one that says, ORIGINAL. I know reviews say the old songs are better, but you can't get "just the 2 of us" on the second cd. The song is hillarious! This tape definately insures a good time!

The teens today!!!

CRUEL INTENTIONS is about how some troubled youths act in high school, both in the movie, and in reality as well. This movie is great, it is aimed for a teen audience, but is still entertaining. It is almost repulsing when you see how these shmucks treat each other, but then you can see the connections between the Character partrayed by Sarah and Ryan, and the kids at your high school. Insomse cases it hit pretty close to home, but it is refreshing to see the "just desarts" in the end of this movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar found her inner "Erica Kane" from her All My Children days. I say her inner "Erica Kane" 'cause I cannot type the real word on this review. In the movie, you almost want to slap her in you are a girl, or splash a glass of water in her face if are a guy,'cause you can't slap her if are a guy. Sarah Michelle Gellar uses some strong language in this movie, so do teens today. Which is so realistic about this movie, with their language and their actions If want to see some evil teens try to use and abuse and manipulate eac other(with thier "Just Desarts" in the end) then sit down, kick back and enjoy!!!

This is an amazing show

okay as many other ppl have already stated it takes a few e.p. to get started but so do alot of great books. they do alot of set up. the characters all have there own agendas and there is always some mystery to their true motives. i highly enjoy this show and recomend it to everyone. i have the 3 disc series which is just the e.p.'s and not the pin set. its cheaper that way and its well worth the money you will spend.

A movie to rule all

This movie had everything a fantasy was suppose to have. Obviously one of the great movies of it's time (and surpassing the nonimaginative and terrible Harry Potter movie), this film includes terrific acting from everybody and visual effects that match the tone and mode of the story (not over or underdone). A great movie that eveyone should see.

Worth buying!

This isn't the best show currently on TV (The Wire holds that distinction and you owe it to yourself to watch that show if you haven't seen it yet) nor is it unquestionably the best show currently on network TV or basic cable (Battlestar Galactica Redux would arguably win that fight) but it is definately up there as the most interesting series out there today. It leaves you asking questions, and answering questions with other questions, and it's a ride you'll love to be led on. I pre-ordered the DVD as soon as I could, at this price for this show it's a good deal. Here's hoping for great special features!

Something puzzles me in this movie

Lovely girls, handsome men, humorous, beautiful and romantic story. I do enjoy watching this movie. I like George's dialogue a lot (not because he is gay!). But I am curious about one thing and feel not so right about another.
Why Michael is so attractive to those two girls? This is an unexplained point in this movie. Of course we don't need to say everything in a movie, but just from my impression of THIS man in THIS movie, I don't feel that he has more charm than any other man on this planet. While I feel George really has some charisma: warm heart to friend, witty, active when necessary and mature, good looking. Bu Michael seems a very self-center guy. When his own career was touched, he was irritated, and wanted to break up with Kimmy. He has only himself in this movie, and the marriage is like his patronage to the girl loves him. I don't understand why he LOVES Kimmy in this movie, but I can see he loves Jule, pretty much.
