Probably Jack Nicholson's best movie.

I've almost all of Mr.Nicholson's movies and like a good wine, this guy gets better and better with age. Don't even rent it before seeing it, but it inmediately. Much better than the last Nicholson and Penn movie. I'm really sorry that it bombed at theatres, after receiving mostly favorable reviews.

Man, what a good freaking movie.

I was blown away by this movie. And I'm rarely blown away by movies. There was almost NOTHING wrong about it.
Well shot, great cinematography, great script, great music. But I feel like saying all that lessons the sheer power it had and the immense feeling I felt watching it. It said so much about high school and kids and life and it was just so freaking honest and true.
Maybe the best thing, and most delighting, about this movie though is the acting. Literally everyone is just so freaking good. Everying was just so real, it made me so happy and excited and engaged.
I can't say enough good things about this movie. Go see it right now. I'm just upset that no one saw it in the theaters when it came out. I heard stuff like, "it was needlessly violent." It's not even that freaking violent. The violence is real and actually made me cringe and feel something.
Anyway. Go see this movie.

Definitely not Disney

I have watched Akira any number of times, and I have to agree with other reviewers who say it is confusing. Even the Amazon.com reviewer got mixed up--the motorcycle punk is Tetsuo, and Akira is the child/experiment that grew too strong too fast and was placed in deep-freeze in separate parts. But the scene showing what happens when those parts are reassembled is worth the price of the video. The best anime ever.

Excellent!

I had the fortune of watching this live (in addition to seeing the show on Broadway and listening to the various recordings). All I can say is that it's GREAT! Colm Wilkinson and Michael Ball are good, as usual, but the biggest revelation is Lea Salonga, whose acting and singing are far superior to any actor who has ever attempted to do Eponine (infinitely better than Frances-whatever-her-name-is on the London and Broadway recordings); she is the PERFECT Eponine.

Aside from the excitement of hearing the performances "live," an interesting feature of this recording is the inclusion of the different male leads from Les Mis productions all over the world in a special number. THIS is the definitive recording for Les Miserables and the one that you should get! (Don't waste your money on "rough drafts" such as the Broadway and London recordings!)

ULTIMATELY ULTIMATE

Well, every person who's in for cinema knows that "Dawn of the Dead" is a milestone picture. So it's obvious that you'd like to buy this one. And I won't tell about film itself - just a couple of words about this edition. I'd call it "All You Ever Wanted To Know About 'Dawn...'". Because here you have everything you could possibly desire. Commentaries, documentaries, galleries, trailers etc. EVERYTHING on 4 discs. The edition has three versions of the film - U.S. theatrical, extended and European. Extended is rather longer and has some bonus scenes but U.S. theatrical is what was prefered by George Romero himself so it's the one what this film was supposed to be from the very beginning. The European one was edited by Dario Argento and is slightly shorter than the others but it's not because Argento just shortened it - he cut out some footage but he inserted some more - some gory stuff. So it's not like this version is cut, don't be confused, it has some footage not available in other versions so it's interesting to watch it anyway. They say there is some German version which is the extended plus Argento's footage but it was not possible to edit all this in potable way so this version is a total mess and is not necessary to watch. Anyway you have all that's needed here.
I don't think there will ever be some edition to top this one so buy it without any doubts. It is definately worth the money.

So much fun, just like the show!

I wouldn't have bet that anyone could pull it off. The original series had such a unique and whimsical voice, I assumed that a movie maker would either overplay the feel of the film or just miss the point entirely.
But Barry Sonnenfeld gets it! And the cast is top-notch. Christina Ricci is more menacing than words can express. The late Raul Julia nails the character of Gomez.
Wonderful in its humor and its overall feel, this one is a keeper to enjoy over and over again.

Outstanding!

One of the best war/military movies ever. Acting and directing deserves an A+. Bruce Willis leads his role like no other could. No one but Willis could have played this role and his supporting cast (SEAL Team) was 'OUTSTANDING'! This movie should lift the status of Cole Hauser and Eamonn Walker to the top of the rising stars list.
This movie makes you appreciate what our brave men and women in the military do to protect us. This was a very realistic movie. I will watch over and over. Hey, I even hear George W. really likes it!

Top Gun is Great!

Top Gun was an extremely hilarious, action-packed, drama filled movie. I have it on DVD with Predator. The sound quality is excellent, you can hear the jets all around you. I enjoyed this movie very much. The cast was very good, the storyline was superior. If you have not seen this classic movie ( and tonnes of people have ) go and get it. People who enjoy a good laugh and like action, not to mention the great aircraft, will love this movie. This is a superior DVD. Most people will enjoy. Thanks!

If you enjoyed Memento's surprises...

This is one of the biggest wastes of a slew of good actors I've ever seen. Hilary Swank: wasted; Christopher Nolan: wasted; the gifted Maura Tierney: about four lines altogether; Robin Williams: horribly miscast. He's about as scary as a kid in a halloween costume and looks b-a-d. There are so many holes in this plot you could drive tractor trailers through them. And there's an ongoing bit of nonsense about Pacino being unable to cut off the perpetual daylight leaking in around the edges of the flimsy window shade. As if a place like Alaska wouldn't have decent shades on the windows! Give this one a miss. It's incredibly dreary. Pacino has insomnia but I could barely stay awake, waiting for something to happen. It's all sizzle and no steak.
