Prepare To Cry

Takahata Isao is the unsung partner of Studio Ghibli. He takes scripts that could easily be created with live actors and makes them art through animation. This story is amazingly presented with terror, sadness, and compassion. The DVD format provides wonderful Subtitles as well as the dubbed version. The story starts with the line, "September 21, 1945....That was the night I died," and gets more depressing from there, but in the end the heartbreak is worth it.

inspirational!

I saw this when it first aired on Lifetime. Let me tell you, I was teary eyed the whole movie. Liz showed great courage and never gave up. I'm glad to see Lifetime airs true stories like this. Liz if you're reading this, please know that you are an inspiration to many - you never gave up and have achieved so much. One reviewer mentioned a book coming out next year. I will have to pick that up!

A Pleasure to Watch

It's so wonderful to see someone put forth such a show that centers around a woman with a classical voice!
No, she doesn't lip-synch. If you watch carefully, the breaths match perfectly. She just has spectacular breathing control (who wouldn't with that degree of classical training in voice?) and is able to maintain her composures. Yes, even with her previous Eden concert, if you watch her breathing, you notice her shoulders even precisely with each breath.
You have to like Sarah and enjoy her music to appreciate this concert. It's a very thematic concert. She draws you into her imagination. This concert is beyond a doubt a fine presentation from who I would say is the greatest voice in the recording industry.
About the DVD vs. VHS debate on this concert, I purchased both because the VHS came out a month or two before the DVD was released. I very much disliked the VHS. There was no flow to the concert, and it was just very weird how costume changes came about and how songs lead up to each other (since quite a few songs are left out on the VHS version). When I bought the DVD, however, everything made sense and the concert flowed beautifully. Since she's such a thematic artist, every costume and design has it's purpose. To really enjoy the flow and thematic journey, you really have to watch it from the real beginning and end, and that's what the DVD offers.

The Best Movie Ever!!

Okay, I've officially adopted myself as the spokesperson for "Love Affair!" I've spent the past few days telling everyone I know to watch it!My mom actually recommended it to me (telling me it was even better than "Jerry Maguire", my previous favorite movie), so I rented it on a whim.....the best decision I've ever made! Now, at first, I was watching it just like a regular romantic comedy, but as it progressed,I realized that the scenes were really ABOUT the emotion. The way that Annette gazes out at the Empire State Building from her balcony....The way that Warren ignores everyone but her on the Russian cruise ship....The way they look at each other in the theater near the end of the movie....Oh, and I felt the emotion! I was in tears through the scene where they are reunited (Annette's "I was looking up" line!), oh, and the scene when Warren is waiting for her with the painting! I cried my eyes out over this movie! I've never seen the original 2 movies, but now I have mixed feelings about if I want to - I couldn't bear to tarnish the magic of this one!It really is a "poetic" movie....beautiful, tender, emotional....everything a hopeless romantic (like me!) could possibly hope for!Everyone looking for an excellent touching movie, buy LOVE AFFAIR today!!!!

A Masterpiece

This is one of the best film's that I've seen in quite some time. The breathtaking sequences and graphic effects really put me in this time period. I also like the special features such as the hour-long gladiator documentary, and deleted scenes with commentary from Ridley Scott. I definitely recommend adding this one to your library, and if you haven't seen it, rent it. You'll want to buy it then.

Personally- I think it's a GREAT sequel!!

Who knew that Eddie Murphy could be so funny without cussing?? The plot and the animals are even better in this one, as well as Murphy's Recently-Grown-Up comedy. Lisa Kudrow and Steve Zahn do steal the show as the endangered Pacific West bears, as well as the "Da Beavuh" If only I could find more easy-to-swallow comedy like this, I'd be in heaven...

dirty dancing review

Okay, now you know my alltime unfavorite 80's movie. Sure its set in the early 60's - then tell me why the hell are they dancing to 80's songs? I almost shelved Patrick Swayze after this one but he was redeemed by Roadhouse. This movie could only be enjoyed by a pack of prepublescent girls at a slumber party who are wondering what its like to lose their virginity. And am I the only one who thinks that Jennifer Gray is a total dog? Sure she's got a hot body but that face! UGGG! That is the one thing that kept this movie from scorring with the guys in my opinion. Skip it, rent roadhouse instead. Better plot, better chicks!
