Please let there be another one!

This DVD has provided my husband and me with 22 wonderful evenings. I agree with all the reviewers - this was the best-acted television program ever. The entire cast is amazing and the story feels so real that we laugh and cry as though we knew these people. I SO hope the next season will appear on DVD also.

Rei admits feelings for Shinji!!!

The most pivotal moment in this DVD of Eva is the moment when Rei admits her 'mind and soul is to become one with Ikari.' She was talking about Shinji, draw your own conclusions, but I personally think she finally found the love she was looking for. The other two episodes reveal more of the secrets of NERV, Asuka, and Rei herself, but also of Gendo Ikari and Ritsiko's mother. The one thing I hope is that we see is Shinji continuing to become the hero we know he can be.

perfect movie

this movie I saw years ago when it first aired on nbc, i think. this is a really good movie that lets you know how dangerous eating disorders are and the pressure society puts on young girls to be perfect. this movie really touched my heart, I felt amy's pain, it made me feel like it was happening to me. it's a really good movie to watch as a family. it shows all the signs that people with eating disorders have. it makes you more aware of them.

A hilarious cult-type movie

Where's Poppa has been a favorite of my family for many years. Ruth Gordon, George Segal and Elliot Gould suffer through all kinds of slpastick antics that make you laugh out loud. Knowing what Jewish mothers can be like can add to your enjoyment of this one!

Conversing with G*d

The movie started out slow, but that's called for, puzzle pieces here and there... The soundtrack is excellent, Jules and Kelly did a fantastic job meshing the song and the images together at the end, and it was at that moment...

Vivid, Wild and Intriguing - A Truly Unique Urban Fairytale

I would call this a fairytale before it is a comic-book-like adaptation or a science fiction tale simply because of its specifically magical quality. Though dark and perhaps somewhat disturbing because of how warped the graphics can be, it presents its audience with a circus of both crazy and endearing characters. An orphan girl who is tough as nails and a circus strong-man who is soft as a marshamllow take us on a wondrous journey in search of the city of lost children. There, orphans are taken hostage and their thoughts stolen by a mad scientist who is no longer able to dream.

The special effects and cinematography are so unique and effectual, it's like nothing I've ever seen. And though the dark, swimming and quirky quality was engrossing to me, it made my roommate nauseaus.

For some it may be too weird to convey a poignant message, but ultimately its strangeness makes it more effectual as it demonastrates how the absence of childlike wonder can corrupt a mind, yet maintaining youth's optimism can set free the child in us all.

ultimate cult flick

how do I do this justice? Only in my Fellini days did I watch films more than once. I've watched this one 5 times and I'm still laughing, still relishing the humor. It unfolds easily... but it keeps unfolding each time I watch it and hasn't grown stale. I just watched it again and it drove me here to urge you - this is the best stuff! No cliche goes unexploited. social mockery? don't even start. ... just a comic book really. sure. Try it. Totally fun.

A Remarkable Series

I'm not a Sherlock Holmes fan. I watched this DVD solely because it was produced by the BBC. What a surprise it turned out to be!

The DVD provides background information Doyle and how he became the writer of the Holmes novels.

The acting is superb, the filming remarkable, and the viewer really feels like he/she is in Victorian England.

Another reviewer says that this isn't the only episode and one can only hope that the others will become available in the US.

Gremlins (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Comedy? Horror? Who cares!

"Gremlins" is one of those movies that you'll either think is pure genius or pure stupidity. I happen to believe it's the former, for they really don't make movies like this anymore. What other film can make statements on everything from the commercialization of Christmas and the stereotypes of sitcoms to the of the innocence of Walt Disney and the fad that was Phoebe Cates? "Gremlins" is the story of a cute little creature named Gizmo (anyone who doesn't adore this guy has got to be cold-hearted). When his new teenage owner fails to follow certain rules to take care of him (you know how irresponsible kids are these days), all chaos breaks loose and the nasty fun begins. Now that it's controversial and marketing overkill days are long gone, you can enjoy this film for the remarkable madness it is. What makes the movie work is the combination of a Mel Brooks-style comedy, a "Poltergeist" clone, a live-action Looney Tune, and a Speilberg-spoofing hit. It may sound confusing, but that's the idea. One minute you're pointing out hilarious parodies from "E.T." to "Flashdance", and the next minute you're jumping out of your seat in terror. "Gremlins" takes everything fun about the movies and squeezes it into a thrill-a-minute adventure that remains exciting every time you watch it. Don't miss out on the superior sequel "Gremlins 2: The New Batch".
