Plays on emotions, obviously, but still watch it.

Fahrenheit 9/11 is the best documentary made this year. I know many people will tell you to see it, but a few will say dont. What exactly is wrong with this picture? Perhaps its because the man who made the doc. is so hated among Bush supporters. Many of the people who support Dubya just watch this movie to slam it. If you agree with just watching a movie to hate it, dont bother reading my review.

MIchael Moore. What comes to your mind when you hear the name. Someone who hates America? Someone who hates Bush? That guy that wears the strange clothing? Well when I hear the name, I think of the good documetaries he has made. In this particular film, Moore decides to target Bush and the Iraq war. He interviews mothers whose children have died in the war and congressmen who refuse to send their children to the war. Do you see what I'm getting at? Moore tries to show both sides in this movie. If your unsure about the reall meaning about the war, watch this documetary(or is it a comedy/drama).

Was the bit about the monkeys true? Ha ha

Fran is the Best!

I always loved "the nanny" and when I heard that it was coming on DVD I got really excited. Over here in Greece "the nanny" was pretty big (in the 90's).So big that they decided to remake it with greek actors! WTF?! I was against this idea the first minute I heard about it. But actually it turned out to be ok. It only ran for 2 seasons. In the first season they remade episodes from the first 3 American seasons and in the second season they remade episodes from the last 3 American seasons. But still the episodes missed something... Fran Drescher! Without her its just not the same...and I cant believe people think she's annoying. I think she's great! Funny, Talented,
Beautiful and Sexy! And her voice is very cute. I'm so glad that I own the complete first season of the "original" nanny! (God bless Amazon!) It's Great! And I can't wait for the other seasons to come out...hopefully they wont take too long like they do with the "Simpsons".

Fargo. Brilliant Black Comedy

Seldom have I seen a movie that so captured my attention and imagination. Such a simple story to tell and who would have ever thought such a simple beginning would unfold into such a complex yet fully and completely hysterical, sick and twisted humor? It is amazing to me to see so much talent on display both on the screen and behind it. It makes going to the Movies the most special of all entertainments.

Path to War - movie DVD cover picture
An important movie.

Path to War is a very good , very well researched movie . The movie shows Lyndon Johnson as a man who is torn between sending more and more troops into Vietnam while at the same time wondering if the war is winnable. I have read many books about LBJ and am glad a movie sticks with the facts. I am 24 yrs old and hope that the rest of my and the younger generation will take the time to see this movie. Even if you lived in the 60's and already have a opinion about LBJ and Vietnam, please do yourself a favor and watch this movie.

Grand achievment in Cinema and Horror

First here I am going to discuss why I loved this movie, then I am going to go over why some people did not like this movie (for those of you who haven't bought or seen it yet, so that I might aide you in deciding).
Much like the Billy Rae Cyrus song, "Achy Breaky Heart" this seems to be one of those things that you either love to death or hate with a passion. While I hated the aformentioned Cyrus song, I loved this movie. The plot was mildly creeping in the beginning and built up into something so utterly terrifying that it set itself in my spine and gave me chills for hours after watching it (and as an avid horror fan,I am immune to horror;it is very rare something creeps me out in the least, and this terrified!) The premise was original in itself: a movie done like the unedited footage of a documentary (not of people making a documentary, but only footage that would have been seen by their two cameras--one black and white and one color. Many complain of the characterization, use of profanity, and unstable camera shots: the characters were actually quite realistic as college characters and any complaints are probably because the characters weren't the larger-than-life pretentious people of most movies; the profanity was part of the characterization and it's frequent increase was an accurate way of showing the increasing horror of the characters; and the wobbly camera shots were there because the cameramen had no tripods and were filming much like you'd expect a film to look for a college project. I saw one reviewer complain that it looked like a college students product--that's not a complaint, that the ! POINT! of the movie. I believe the primary cause of disliking this movie is a result of a weak suspention of belief or the viewers unwillingness to try to suspend disbelief. If everything must make perfect sense for you. the way things socalledly do in the "real" world, don't watch it (or just about any horror movie for that matter). If you know you are going to be biased against it because you go into the film knowing it is untrue though presented as if it were, don't watch it. But I must say that not to watch this movie or not to be able to suspend your disbelief will cause you to miss out on one spectacular film.

Requiem for a Dream - Director's Cut - movie DVD cover picture
Thought Provoking, Sensory and Soul Journey

Some reviews I have read about "Requiem" stated that the film had nothing to say, did not add to the dialogue about drugs or drug films, and served merely as a cautionary tale about how drugs are bad. I completely disagree with these ideas. I felt that the heart of this film is very socially concious. It examines a culture where drug addicts are put in prision while drugs are handed out like candy on Halloween to solve even the smallest problems. This film seemed less about the evils of addiction then about the evils of our cultures hypocritical attitude towards drugs and drug addicts. More thought provoking than, say, Trainspotting, but not for the weak of heart or mind.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - movie DVD cover picture

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" has panache, slapstick, clever con hijinks, some gorgeous scenery of the beautiful French oceanside, a wacky Steve Martin peeing in his pants at the dinner table, and a debonair Michael Caine changing his impersonations as often as his hat.
Plus, a great ending.
MGM has done a fairly surprising job with the feature-rich DVD. Apart from a couple of standard theatrical trailers, it has a complete altenative track from Frank Oz (director) which is quite funny overall. Next up is a six and a half minute "behind the scenes" featurette including interviews with director Frank Oz, Steve Martin, Michael Caine, Glenne Headly, and the writer. In short, MGM has done a pretty decent job with this DVD.
Recommended purchase.
