PPPPPLLLEEEAAASSEE! Release it on dvd!

That should do it. Were there enough exclamation points in that? Realy, five stars is not enough for this film. Many people have reviewed it giving it as many stars as I have. The only reason I am doing so is to make a bigger positive impression so they might release it soon. If you have not seen this on any kind of a screen, big or small then you have not seen one of the finest works of art that exist. Please do your brain a favore and see it, if you can.

Even with no extras this would be worth 5 stars!

I have waited patiently, as have many other maniacs, for this day. After years of wearing out bootleg copies taped from fickle network and cable stations, the show that needs no metaphor is on dvd. I am disappointed, however, that the show isn't being presented in widescreen. Nevertheless, I will not complain, because the dream is a reality. Now everyone can catch up on one of the greatest (albeit grossly neglected) shows of all time.

Best of all his movies.

I am writing this for serious Miyazaki fans since watching either Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away. Some of you who have watched this movie may find this critque interesting.

This movie has an excellent animation, moving story and well designed character development. Having said that I am going to give ratings to all his other movies, so that you will know what to expect of his other movies.

1. Nausicaa
2. Laputa (castle in the sky)
3. Mononoke
4. Totoro
5. Conan
6. Luipin III, cagliostro
7. Kiki's delivery
8. Porco Rosso
9. Spirited Away
10. Holmes
11. Heisei Tanuki Ponpoko
12. Cat Returns

As a side, I'd like to state that this movie is what Miyazaki devoted his whole life into. The movie itself is actually a shorter version of his comic book that has taken many years to complete (mostly because he took a long break right after 6th book). So if you really want to understand his works, you need to get those comic books. (I think there are 7 of them). It has been said that Princess Mononoke is a reenactment of Nausicaa in a comic book. The story is very complex and very intriguing.

Charlie B is somebody's Grandpa

Amazing. The finest of the Death Wish series. Paul is the one of the finest characters in all of fiction. What is better than a sixty year old man who blows people away. He is hard, no one can fade him. I offer a brief descripption of my favorite scenes. Paul is eating dinner at an elderly couples home whe he is alerted to a disturbance at his automobile. He calmly walks outside and is confronted by thugs. He wets them like it was cool, and walks back inside to finish his dinner unphased. The best thing is that he is happy about it. Next, he is walking down the street with his camera. The giggler snatches it and runs down the street cackling. Does this bother our hero? Of course not, he throws down and shoots the giggler in the back with Wildy. Once again, he is not is not bothered by this. The standoff with the villain in the end is the best. The bad guy is standing in front of paul, who is seated comfortably on a recliner/chair, with a pistol. Expressionless, Paul reaches behind the chair and draws his bazooka. The villain must not be much of a gunfighter because he stands dumfounded as Paul proceeds to shoot him at close range with a missile. Since Paul can never fade, he is unharmed by the blast. When I am old, I hope to be as half as hard as Charles Bronson.

The humor is low and the horror is high! This teen flick will nauseate your stomahcs as Antoin Tobias (Devon Sawa) stars as a drug atic who sits around like a slug and disovers his hand has been possessed by Lucifer and he must stop it before he kills anyone else besides his parents! Jesica Alba stars as his hot girlfriend and Seth Green stars as Devon's duggy friend as well! NOT RECOMMENED! Rated R for nudity, strong horror violence, drug use and language.

Film showing the influence of TV, the church and culture

Low budget is one thing, but I have truly seen home movies made with hand-held camcorders that looked better than this film. It is so dark and grainy that it's at times difficult to see what's going on. I had to turn the sound way up to even understand what was being said.
Other than that, a few good-looking, young Mexican men stumble through this awkward, melodramatic soap-opera ditty, never really touching on anything that rings true. It's neither moving, nor funny (though it tries at both). Banality would have been refreshing in comparison.
If someone lends this to you, you might want to take a look at Mike Ruiz and Irwin Ossa. Then again, why not just look at pictures of them in the internet; it would be infinitely more satisfying.

Great Movie, Horrifying DVD

Great movie. Fantastic Visuals and a beautiful soundtrack, great story. What more could you ask for in a GITS movie? A great DVD. I normally like Dreamworks and what they do but this is a travesty. I bought the DVD and found myself with much disappointment. And yeah, how could they not dub it in English? I do not mind the subtitles or the japanese language but I would have liked an English dubbed version as well. THe cover of the DVD is tragic as well. If it was not GITS, I would not have even bothered picking it up. If you are smart, you will wait for a better version. If you are like me, and just want your own copy for the time being, the movie is worth what you pay but do not expect anything other than a great movie.
