PERFECT

Amelie is a perfect little movie. I saw it for the first time last night and fell in love. Creative filmmaking, gorgeous use of color, and artistic visual style & composition. The story, and adorable Amelie, are totally captivating, sweet, sad, quirky, and lovable. It sounds like fluff, but it's not, it has a lot of genuine feeling and substance. Like a movie critic said: "It deserves to be cherished, hugged and celebrated." ... Delightful film making... "with a cherry on top."

Lost in Yonkers - movie DVD cover picture
This is great!

Mercedes Reuhel as an eccentric auntie and Irene Worth as miserable granny steal the show from nominal star Richard Dreyfuss. There's nothing wrong with Dreyfuss's performance, in fact he's very funny as a George Raft style gangster reined in by the domestic prison of his family. It's just that the aforementioned ladies are SO good that you are constantly watching them to see what they will do next.
This wartime story centres round two boys whose father sends them to live with their grandmother so he can repay a debt. There's an air of tragedy throughout this comic film. The debt is the hospital expenses of the boys' dead mother, and much of the film is spent dwelling on this and other deaths in the family. But Neil Simon does it so well, and the comedic moments do not in any way lessen the impact of the more melancholy scenes. The screenplay was adapted by Simon from his own play and it shows, with almost all scenes set in Grandma's house. But this does not detract from what is a very well made, enjoyable movie.

FUNNY,FUNNY MOVIE!

This movie is hilarious from beginning to end. It is quite simple and predictable but that's not the point of the movie. You see it for the incredible performances of the actors and actresses, especially Steve Zahn and William H. Macy. Lots of laughs and great acting. Recommended for anyone looking for a good time with a light-hearted movie.

The Best Glenn Ford Film

I have been a fan of "3:10" since I was a kid. Every time it is on I have to watch it. It is compelling, beautiful and fascinating. This is a very powerful film for its time and stands up to today's standards. Glenn Ford is wonderful against type, a truly bad man, but able to charm the pants off the girls (literally) and becomes likable yet despicable. Van Heflin is excellent as well, both men play well off each other and we see without corniness the contrast between the two characters. The supporting cast includes some excellent talent, too, including Richard Jaeckle, Ford Rainey and others. This is a must see and a must own film, especially now that its on DVD, my VHS copy is all worn out...gee, I wonder why.

T3 is terrific! Fantastic!

Is no on else glad there is a fresh perspective? I won't rehash the story. Many here have done that. This is a great treatment and a worthy installment to the series. Great effects, but thankfully, the camera doesn't linger on them. Great action and cast. Good story and a fresh take on the series. I saw it twice!

Possibly the best Christmas Romance Film?

Stanwyck is great as bride to be that is having second thoughts. However, Morgan's acting is strong also. He goes unnoticed in most films but was a very capable actor, check out KITTY FOYLE. He plays the visiting sailor that woos Stanwyck away from her husband to be.
This is a christmas classic. The settings and the story make for a great christmas romance.

Don't let her go before buying this DVD

I don't really write reviews but I thought I would for this one just because I think it is something people should take a look at. The DVD includes the first two music videos from Jennifer Love Hewitt's last album, "Barenaked". The first song "Can I Go Now?" is focused on questioning what the purpose is of continuing on in a troubled relationship, while "Barenaked" is about the insecurities everyone feels in life. Both are fun, hook-filled pop/rock songs, and Love's voice really goes well with these two tracks. The videos are both very high quality transfers, everything looks and sounds great, and I personally think "Can I Go Now?" really stands out as a video. There is also a bonus photo gallery included with the DVD with some promotional photos. If you are a fan of Jennifer, or her type of music, I think you will be very pleased with this item. On a side note, this is the first DVD single I've bought, and I hope record companies embrace them in the future, it could really help make buying singles worthwhile again. I think anybody else who buys this will see what I'm talking about.

Barton Fink - movie DVD cover picture
Did "Barton Fink" really happen?

Barton Fink is one of the most fascinating films I've seen in a long time. The amazing thing about this movie is that having seen it, one immediately wants to talk to someone about what it really was about. Most of the characters are not what they seem -- they all have a normal and a very dark side, which gets revealed as the movie goes along.

A possible interpretation of this movie is that the entire movie from the opening scene to the end is nothing but a dream that exists in the head of the protagonist -- Barton Fink. There are so many sets and scenes in the film that have a creepy, surreal and dream-image quality. The movie is as plausible as nothing but a horrible nightmare from which the author, Barton Fink, must gratefully awaken at the end, rather than being a sequence of "real" events. Virtually all of the acting is first-rate.

I think this lesser-known movie is a great achievement, on a par with Fargo or even with O Brother Where Art Thou, in its own right. A must see whether you are a Coen Brothers fan or not.

A MUST HAVE...

Diana Krall has outdone herself... This is the Ultimate jazz DVD to own. Diana Krall is not afraid to share the spotlight. In fact, she enjoys it in this DVD with guitarist Anthony Wilson, bassist John Clayton, and Jeff Hamilton on drums. She looks like she is enjoying every minute of this concert.. and the sound from this fantastic group shows it. I was in a state of awe(yeah, my jaw was dropped, saying WOW) throughout this concert. I have watched this DVD five times already and am still amazed at the musician-ship and love betweeen these artists. Diana Krall has to be the most beautiful jazz artist out in todays jazz(or even pop) world, but her artistry of the keyboard and love for the music outshines her beauty(barely). If there is ANY jazz DVD to buy, THIS IS IT....

I too saw The Point Years ago and absolutely love the fresh and creative way this movie tells a story and is infused with such life learning. I strongly encourage the powers that be to re-release the video as soon as possible. I will continue to watch and wait for it to surface.
