this film has got to be one of the funniest movies of the 1990s.if this does not make you laugh, then you have no sense of humor. one of the pleasures of watching this movie is when you 're familiar with what movie they're spoofing in some scenes. highly recommended, especially if you're a fan of low brow humor and films with a cult following. p.s. check out the spy who shagged me. it's even better and funnier than this one.possibly one of the best sequels ever made.

Amazingly, matches the hype - a great show

I'd never heard of this series before, but stumbled upon it while browsing DVDs here at Amazon and bought it because of all the rave reviews.
I just finished the first episode, and have to say it's as good as everyone says. Good special effects, an interesting universe, and most importantly interesting characters and relationships.

Quentin is not all that crazy......he has a heart....

WOW... is the only word that came out of my mouth after i saw this brilliant movie.... Uma did it again... she really did not kick as much butt in this movie but she still did her thang...

I think i like this movie much more than the first one is because of the DEPTH... the acting in this one was some of the best i've seen ever... I like Daryl hannah as a villian... It answered tons of questions on everyones mind... "Elle vs. I" is the best chapter in the whole KILL BILL saga...PERIOD!!!!

I love the way they ended to movie... i did not want the fight between BIll and THE BRIDE to be so long and overdone... it was quick and to the point....

The KILL BILL saga is the best series i have seen... the last good series was maybe AUSTIN POWERS or INDIANA JONES... to be completely honest way way way way way way better than the MATRIX series.... you will not waste your money if you like action, drama, depth, and gore....

Tombstone - movie DVD cover picture

I have watched this movie so many times that I've lost count!!! As an old western buff (with favorites like Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, the orignal Return of Frank James, etc), I first watched this movie out of curiosity. I did not think that a modern day western could possibly match up to the powerful guns of yesteryear. How wrong I was! Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer shine in this movie, and Kilmer makes Doc Holliday a lovable character, even though the real Holliday was anything but. The story itself did not totally match the true lives of the characters, i.e. the violent relationship between Doc and Kate in real life was replaced in this movie by a 'girlfriend/boyfriend' type situation even though, clearly, Kate's desire was Doc's demise.
All in all, Tombstone, in my opinion, is one of the best movies ever made. I thoroughly enjoyed it and although the budget was much lower than the 4 hour Costner movie, Wyatt Earp, which was released around the same time, Tombstone blew it's competition out of the water! Hands down!
It is a definite 'must see' not only for western lovers, but for those who enjoy good action movies. You will not be disappointed.

A great film!

I highly recommend this film. I would give it ten stars if I could. It's a great movie, and has some very wonderful dance numbers in it. Jane Powell and Fred Astaire are great in it as a brother and sister dance team.

Gilmore Girls - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
I'm out of the closet....and lov'in it

I started watching Gilmore Girls about half way through the first season. Of course as a fortysomething single male, I couldn't tell anyone! But as the years have past, it now seems that the word is out on one of the best written Television shows of all time. The first season is of course the best one. As is the case for most shows. The characters are new and you can't wait to get to know them. The relationship between Lorelai (mom) and Rory (daughter) is so real that you can't help loose yourself in their struggles to make it through what life dishes out. The thing that I have always liked most about the show is it's fairy tale approach. The comedy is always there, the too good to be real hometown, the quirky townspeople it's just a joy, and yet it's real when it needs to be, but never quite being a soap. I can't recomend the DVD enough. I'm planing on talking it with me to the nursing home someday cause it (Gilmore Girls) will stand the test of time. Hope you all enjoy it as much.

Beautiful Film, but where was Jet Li?

Okay, Zhang Yimou is one of the all-time great film directors and i love his movies, though this one came across as a Disney cartoon done in real-life. My main complaint is that he didn't give Jet much to do. The part of the so-called Hero was a wooden, 2-dimensional character who wasn't on screen much. Instead, the story is really a visual tapestry of how China became united, without much dialog. Whatever. Great for kids, I guess.

This film is so much more that it is given credit for.

This movie touched me in a way that no other movie has. I loved every minute of it. After living in Europe for 4 months, I was longing for something that would take me back. I took some of my friends to see it, but one by one at different times so that I could see it again. Audrey Tautou is simply amazing. The music is perfect. The characters embody a part of all of us. This love story could happen to any one of us, and perhaps it will! After 5 minutes I didn't even know the movie had subtitles, the language is so beautiful, I now want to go learn French.

The Exorcist: One of my favorite all-time horror movies!!

The Exorcist has always been a frightful movie to watch. Theexistence of evil and everything that it upholds sends chillsdown my spin and possibly to those who "believe." The faceof teen-ager Linda Blair possessed is one that is neverunforgettable. Excellent directing and great commentationon the new version.

A masterpiece! A wonderful look at petty organized crime!

This film is quite frankly a masterpiece of storytelling, and it does an excellent job of explaining how it might be to be on the inside of organized crime. This is the story of petty gangster Henry Hill, and is based on his actual, true-to-life autobiography. As Hill explains in the movie "I always wanted to be a gangster. To me, being a gangster was better than being President of the United States..." Now that's ambition!
Hill and his fellow gangsters (known among themselves as "wise guys" or "good fellas") look down at working men and women as schmucks. Why should anyone slave away and work for a living in a real job when you can make ten times more money (or a hundred times more!) stealing and playing the rackets? Hill couldn't see one single reason to engage in legitimate work for just this reason. For a time, for Hill crime paid and paid big. This film chronicles gangster Hill's initial ascent into the prosperity of being a successful gangster, and his eventual descent into drug dealing, wanton murder and horrific violence, and in the end, poverty, jail, and betrayal.
The film is great entertainment, although it has sufficient really bad violence such that this is no movie for young children or even teens under maybe 16 years old. The violence is pretty graphic, but it is not gratuitous and I will say that it is a necessary part of the story because it shows the terrible price that these gangsters paid in order to keep the easy money rolling in.
Ray Liotta is very good in this film as Henry Hill. Robert De Niro turns in his customary subperb performance as Jimmy "the Gent" Conway. Joe Pesci is effective as the rabid mobster Tommy DeVito, and Pesci's excellent performance in this film is what really caused his career to ignite. The rest of the supporting cast does extremely well also, making this film one of the really great gangster flicks. While The Godfather in a sense glorifies organized crime as a modern day Roman Empire (as Tom Hagan refers to it in Godfather II), this film shows the mob's dirty, gritty underbelly of pointless violence, cruelty, and corruption.
The film never fails to hold the viewer's interest and entertain. It is not for young children, however.
