Outstanding Film

Equilibrium was a bit of a dissapointment for me. The cover of the DVD says "Forget the Matrix!" but after watching this once, it was swiftly returned to the shelf. The problem is, you go in thinking this is going to be a hyperactive action film with lots of action-packed fight scenes. The few fight scenes in the film are great, don't get me wrong, but they're too one-sided. Christian Bale's character is nigh-invincible from start to finish, which removes any real sense of dread you may get during the minimal fight scenes. Furthermore, while the characters aren't supposed to show emotion, which is the focus of the story, it also makes for some dull character interactions (except of course, when you can spot certain actors--cough, Taye Diggs--failing to appear emotionless). As I watched this movie, it felt like forever waiting for these so-called 'groundbreaking action scenes' this movie was hyped about. While it's not a bad movie, it's far from the greatest I've seen. "Forget the Matrix"? Likely Equilibrium will be the forgotten movie in a long line of action films.

Happy Baby=Happy Mommy

These videos/dvds are the BEST! My 8 month old son gets so excited when I put his walker in front of the TV because he knows he's in for a treat. Let's be honest parents, these videos are a lifesaver for those times you need a half hour to get things done or just take a longer shower. The baby is happy, you're happy (and clean), and it's quality educational entertainment.

Stunning DVD transfer!

Of the millions of films made over the last century, only a few stand out as films which not only are true to the story they portray but are made so exquisitely that to release this film without significant TRUE Restoration would be a crime. The color in this film is worth the experience of watching it even if there was no plot. Like the restoration of Hitchcock's Vertigo, Moulin Rouge would glow once again and be an example of how to use color as exquisite and intelligently as possible. Please, if this is to be made into a DVD (and it must be for the sake of preserving Hollywoods best for future generations)only a full and pristine restoration DVD would be acceptable and most sought after by thousands upon thousands of true film afficianados around the world. I rank this film in the top 20 ever made.

Bronson's Best!

I've been waiting to get this movie on DVD for a long time. Thanks to MGM for bringing it out. Today when I found it on the shelf at the HMV store in Hong Kong, I forgot where I was & screamed out.......
This has gotta be the best of Charles Bronson. This is a must see classic by good old Charlie. A tongue in cheek performance by master of action movies & with an excellent ending. Jan-Michael Vincent also is good in this one.
It's quite unfortunate that there's no subtitles on this DVD. As for the picture quality, I should say that it's ok. Go for it guys, rent it or buy it & enjoy yourselves.

Slicker is Quicker

I reaqlly love this movie. Why? Because I love treasure movies, that's why! This one's even better than The Treasure of the Sierra Madre for many reasons, not the elast of which is SIerra Madre is such a downer. Sorry, Bogey. ALso I love comedy and yes, I even love cattle being mistaken for the opposite sex. Great locations, good writing and Jack Palance, the man you just can't stop listening to. I enjoyed the cameo appearances in the end and the sappy parts. It's all good entertainment! The Ending always gets me jumping and cheering.
Mooo.

Oscar, Academy Award!!!

This movie should have won Best Picture!!!!
Let me tell you that just the commemntary track alone is worth buying. The commentary on this movie is better than most Movies I've seen. Get this, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and other actors in the movie sit around and drink while the movie is playing. By the end of the movie Trey isn't even talking in sentences, it's more like really long words. As for the movie, well it's low low low low low budget. When someone says low budget they mean a few million. So for the amount of money they spent it is good. As for the content of the movie... the best. His jokes are played perfectly and the timing is always on. Yes this movie is a musical, but remember it is a comedy as well. It's more like a Comusicaledy.

:-) :-) :-) :-)

The Spirit of '76 is GREAT. Lots of extra features, including "behind the scenes," some scenes that were cut, the Redd Kross "1976" music video, easter eggs throughout where you click on an unassuming item onscreen and get one comic or another (Paula Poundstone, Michael McKean, Bobby Slayton, Ben Stein...) talking about the 70s, and a running commentary by Carl and Lucas Reiner.
The movie itself was a little bit less fun than on the first coupe of viewings (I first saw it in a theatre); the surprise of all that 70s stuff has worn off a bit, I suppose. But still pretty funny. Rob Reiner does a good turn as a Werner Erhardt-type guy. The Redd Kross guys are great as typical 70s teens. A lot of humorous moments, overall - but I think you might have to be of a certain age - such that you were sentient during the 70s and especially the bicentenial year - to truly enjoy it.

Tenchi with diffrent characters and still diffrent.

This anime is a very good one. The characters look like characters from Tenchi Muyo and that adds to the story. Its a bit more adult than tenchi muyo as there is nudity in the beginning. The innocence of the Photon makes the story interesting. At times you can tell that he has no idea what is really going on and then there are times, like when photon is fighting, that he seems to be so in control of things. The action that i have seen isnt corney and the comedy is very good. I have seen and own the english version and the dubbing is very good.
