Original ending= Death /// This DVD= Rebirth

After suffering through the last two episodes of Evangelion I was dumbfounded with disgust. "No! It can't end like that! So many questions unanswered! BLARGH!" I actually thought that this DVD was neccessary to the plot-line of the series (its not, End of Evangelion is), so I was a little disappointed that it isn't. However, after watching Rebirth my faith in the series skyrocketted! So happy! This is packed with extra features that no fan of the series should be without. :-)

A cinematic masterpiece

The Deer Hunter is the story of how the lives of four steelworkers, their famlies and friends are irreparable damaged after their tour of duty in the Vietnam War. This movie goes far beyond the autrocities of the conflict in Vietnam by delving into man's ability to cope with severe stress. Although we all deal with stress in different ways, Cimino depicts that no one is immune from it. Some of us are delt good cards in life, others are not. The Deer Hunter portrays macabre truism that all we have is 'one shot, and that's what it's [life] all about.'

blade is so hot in the movie

The BLADE movies have kind of been the halfway point between the years of Marvel's Low Budget Movie efforts and their now big box office record of doing A-Quality Pictures on their heroes. When Blade came out in 1998, it was a moderate box office hit but it was not a very good movie. It was done mostly on Wesley's production company, Ahmen Ra Films and was written and co-produced by David Goyer. It was largely shot overseas to save on production costs and had about the same amount of gore and zero story as the Alien movies. Blade 2 was not much better, and while the two movies developed something of a cult following with Movie goers, neither New Line nor Marvel was really that happy with the scripts and the finished films. New Line did not make as much money off the films, and Marvel did not approve of the changes done with the character that were different from the comic stories. These movies have only been done as part of a three picture deal that was signed in 1996 and that's about the whole story. Blade Trinity is the final movie of the series, and Marvel seems glad of that. There is not much to say about the picture except that it show cases Goyer's inability to write or direct, Blade himself seems reduced to playing second banana to the Nightstalkers as played by Ryan Renyolds and Jessica Biel (whose screen time in the movie is given a larger presense as part of an attempt to get a NightStaklers movie made, however Marvel seems little interested in doing that). It's also strange that Marvel's now familar Movie Logo does not appear at the start of the picture, which may mean that they did not like or approve of this series to begin with. That;s easy to see why.

Ever After - A Cinderella Story - movie DVD cover picture
Surprisingly enjoyable

This is the kind of movie that no self-respecting guy would admit to liking in front of his friends. Seeing as i have no self-respect and even fewer friends, i have no reservations in stating that i loved this one from start to finish. It is a clever and highly original retelling of the classic Cinderella story, set in France. The entire cast does an inspired job. Drew Barrymore hasn't been this endearing since "E.T." (or was it "Doppelganger" ? I keep confusing the two), Anjelica Huston is a fittingly loathsome stepmother and even the featured "prince charming" i found easy to stomach. Need i recount the (allegedly true) tale ? (daughter turned lowly servant turned pretend courtier turned princess) Check elsewhere !
The pre-feminist subtext is hard to overlook, but far from obtrusive. Couldn't help liking the not so evil second stepsister. No fantastic elements are introduced: there is no evidence of sorcery, or a pumpkin anywhere to be found. Replacing the fairy godmother with Leonardo da Vinci of all people is a stroke of genius, adding to the credibility of the storyline. The payoff is thoroughly satisfactory, leaving you with a smile on your face. My fellow countryman Jeroen Krabb? (Barrymore's father) sees his acting career cut short as he is killed off within the first five minutes or so. The whole thing is accompanied by a great music score. Set aside your prejudice & suspend your disbelief. This is 1 hour and 57 minutes well spent !

real horror

this was the first horror movie i ever saw when i was a kid and have been hooked ever since. i still think to this day of an escape plan if in fact this really did happen (hopefully not but you never know) but when i watched it i wondered why didnt they have an attic? perfect hiding place the zombies wouldnt have been able to get up there, in the 1990 remake there was an attic all along, that annoyed me, why didnt they just go up into the freakin attic! but anyway good movie minus the attic.

An amazing cinematic epic that is a must see

I watched Band of Brothers when it first came out right before 9/11 and just recently noticed that HBO was running the series again. The first time through the series was just simply an amazing ride through the realities of WWII. BoB not only accurately described the war from the perspective of the men of Easy Company but it showed what it meant to be a soldier during those years. I personally have been inspired to know more about that generation through reading more books by various authors and I encourage everyone who has an interest in these topics to read up on WWII from different perspectives. I think what you will find ultimately is that the soldier in WWII whether American, British, German, Polish, Russian, Australian or Canadian, were all honorable men doing a job for their country. As I sit through this series a second time now, I find it every bit as gripping as the first time. Now I get a chance to look for little things that i missed the first time through. Also.. the quotes.. the quotes in this series are great. My favorite by far is Winters saying to Sobel "You salute the rank not the soldier"...

Thank you, Vicki!

This is as superb a show as has graced primetime American TV.
The DVD set is excellent, with an enormous amount of features, though letterboxing would have been nice.
One complaint: the theme song and occasional music is EXTREMELY LOUD versus the dialogue. The show willend all poignant and 2 secs later, the music will RIP into action. It's needlessly loud.

I hate Baseball but loved this movie.

If you like corny Japanese movies, this one is for you. If you like hot Asian men with long hair. Well, there is only one piece of eye candy but he is a treat and goes all out with his acting for the camera. There is nothing in the world like seeing a grown Asian man cry and at the same time being as macho as possible.

See it at least once.

The dvd xtras are not that great and the 'zombies' in the film are not really zombies in the traditional sense [Fresh..brainnns.....] but are actually quite lively and apparently are high school students out to take over the world through baseball.
Also, this is not a predictable movie by far. I guarantee that you wouldn't have guess what was going to happen.

I love it!

I had to watch this in French class, so, automatically I was thinking it was going to be boring and stupid. I was completely wrong about that! I love this movie. The littlest details all tie together at the end, the plot is twisted, the characters are twisted, the whole thing is amazing. It caught my attention in less than 5 minutes. I'm definately going to have to buy this one!
